One thing the above clearly illustrates is the difference in perception an individual can receive in a team sport based on that team winning or losing.

Gerrit Cole opts out of his contract with the Yanks. The team has a way to keep him by adding a year at 36M.

Cashman in ESPN article……..wow……blah, blah , blah…..stuff happens. I am a big fan of Boone we are lucky to have him.

Oh well good bye Soto and good bye to any chance we had to win a World Series for the next few years.

He is already talking about who else might be available kind of like just in case.

Should have never razed the old stadium. Should have just refurbished who cares about the cost it is New York. That old stadium was on hollowed ground.

We are just another meddling organization.

I understand I am being very dramatic. Just how I feel.

If they don’t sign Soto, I don’t see how this team doesn’t take a significant step backwards.

Has Cashman talked at all about budget constraints? If there are any constraints, can he even make a pitch for Soto? Judge,Cole, Stanton, Rodon have to be taking up most of his budget. How can he squeeze in another massive contract? If Hal wants to convince us that he is all in…he needs to find a way.

Changing the thread a bit, I've heard a lot of smoke of the Yankees having interest in Christian Walker to be their new first basemen.

Gold Glove fielder and he's been a steady .800 OPS hitter for a while now. Can't complain about his analytics either as Walker also draws BBs and his K rate isn't bad for his level of power.

He'll be 34 by the start of the season, so I can't imagine Walker getting more than a two-year deal.

We officially keep Boone. Just terrific…..same old Hal Steinbrenner Yankees. Boone has made the playoffs 6 out of 7 years most regular season wins…..they have to understand as Yankee fans we can go 81-81 and who cares since the goal is winning World Series.

I guess Soto wants to go to a winner. Well we are in the playoffs every year. Since 2010 we have played in the third most playoff games. Only Houston and Dodgers have played more. We have a losing record 31 wins in 69 games. Four teams have more wins than us in that time Astros, Dodgers, Giants and Cardinals. All four of those teams have winning records in the playoffs.

We win until it’s time to win or go home. Sure keep Boone…..just brilliant…..

No thanks I’m sick of .240 hitters can we get some .280-.320 guys please?

We need actual hitters really bad.

Anyone paying Soto $700mil or is that just Boras fluff?

Dodgers seemingly playing chess with all of these Bobby Bonilla type contracts where they defer tens of millions per player so they can trot out an all star at every position.

Sidenote I’m not a fan of the rumored change giving teams “Golden At Bats” where you pick who you want to bat one time a game. I’d rather see robo umps so Boone has no one to argue with.

signing Soto only makes sense if Steinbrenner doesn’t close the wallet after this. If signing Soto means the Yankees are tapped out, it may make sense to sign 5 differerent players for the same amount who would fill holes.

If your operating on a budget competing against the Dodgers then just sell the damn team.

If we let the Mets, yes the Mets, get Soto then I think it is time for the Steinbrenner family to sell the team. I am hopeful that the only reason they kept Boone is because Soto likes him, as along with Hal he has taken the Yankees to new lows. I don’t really care what his regular season record is because the lack of basic baseball fundamentals cost us game one of the World Series and then the flood gates opened.

If we don’t get Soto then I think the best move is to fire Boone and spend every penny we have on the rest of the free agent market.

Just the thought that a generational player is considering the freaking Mets over the Yankees says it all. I understand money talks but eventually Cohen if he does not win will create a toxic environment in that organization.

Soto in pinstripes just feels right and as a life long Yankee fan to see what this franchise is becoming is sad and will only be more of that if Soto goes somewhere else because we got out bid.

I think the Mets will. Not sure if Boston will go that high. Or the Yankees. Boston actually has a slight income tax advantage for a change in this case.

As a Sox fan, I'm torn. They have loads of position player talent already and coming in the minors. I'd get two very good starters Fried/Crochet Burnes/Crochet and then see what kind of RH bat they can add.

Golden At Bats is stupid.

This morning I sent out a letter on next day air to Hal Steinbrenner at the Dallas Hilton Anatole hotel in Dallas site of the Winter Meetings!
Asking him if he loses out on Soto he has to sign/trade for
the following players:
1. Christian Walker 1B free agent
2. Nolan Arenado 3B trade or Willy Adames SS/3B free agent
3. Anthony Santander LF free agent
4. Cody Bellinger CF/1B trade
5. Max Fried SP free agent
6. Corbin Burnes SP free agent
7. Jack Flaherty SP free agent (any 2 of 3 SP)
8. Tanner Scott RP free agent or
9. Carlos Estevez RP free agent
I said if he loses out on Soto he owes NYY fans big-time signing the above players to not only get to the WS but win it!

I agree even if he signs Soto he has to add other "pieces" to the roster! Don't just rest on Soto!
We won't win squat if he doesn't sign more talent!

Hunt for 7- - Not just the Mets but the Red Sox have Dominican's BIG PAPI and Pedro Martinez all over Soto!
I can't stand Steinbrenner and Cashman!
If George was alive we would have won at least 3 WS since 2009!

But there are are nearly a half million Dominicans in the South Bronx and northern Manhattan. Nowhere in America would feel more like home than playing for the Yankees and Soto can become the greatest Yankees of all-time from the DR.

I hope that is a big part of his decision. They will have Soto parades in those boroughs you mention, should we win a few World Series. With his talent and the amount of people from DR living in the area…..he would be a cult hero in New York.

I know he cares about it because if you want him to throw you a baseball at the games I went to if you were anywhere near the field and displayed the DR flag you were getting a baseball at least from him.

I agree 100%…but Steinbrenner has held Cashman to the salary cap in the past. If he is still doing this…signing Soto doesn’t make sense.

I hope that he has stopped with the salary cap crap and does the right thing and signs Soto.

I hope the average ticket price for a cheap seat at the Stadium tops $200.
