Where did I say he was a great QB? My comment was that I would rather have Carr than Wilson.

I wanted Carr on the Jets because he was a good QB who was younger and didn't require draft picks to acquire. And with their defense he would be good enough. I never said he was great.

And...I also said I warmed up to the decision to trade for Rodgers versus signing Carr.

But... considering what has transpired...I would rather watch Carr right now than Wilson.
Makes sense if you didn’t wanna give up draft capital but did Carr wanna play for the Jets? You do know a FA also has to wanna play for your franchise too.

There’s less pressure playing in NO and you can hide out more then you can in the Northeast not to mention, the media in NY, Carr wouldn’t be able to handle it.

He had a good visit with the Jets...and they liked him. But...they said they wanted to Rodgers answer first. Carr didn't want to wait... understandably.

Who knows if it would have worked out...but they just needed a solid QB with their defense to be a very strong team. Rodgers will make the team potentially great... hopefully next year.

Anyone else in the league other than Wilson wins that game today. Wow.

It will be interesting if the Jets get desperate and overpay for a QB to finish out this season.

I am looking forward to Zach becoming a great starting quarterback on another team..lol.

I don't think Hacketts play calling is helping either.

Today was pathetic. It’s crystal clear Wilson is not an NFL caliber QB and they were held to under 2 yds per rush. Saleh has no plan going into each game. And Hackett is tossing mid level college type plays out there. Boring and uninspired.

Eagles and the Chiefs coming. If they don’t go get a veteran QB they’re 1-5 at the bye.

If this disastrous season continues at its current rate.... would Woody think about making a change at GM or HC? I say no... mainly because if he did then Rodgers probably retires.

I think Douglas has mismanaged the quarterback position since he has been GM. I will give him a pass on whiffing on Wilson...lots of GMs whiff on first round quarterback picks. But last year he didn't bring in a backup for Wilson....then had to trade for Flacco.

After seeing Zach Wilson for two years... Douglas decides to keep Zach and let Mike White go. And here we are ....how much better would this team be with White at quarterback?

Douglas has made mistake after mistake at quarterback...and it's kind of an important position. I also question drafting a DE in the first round when you are loaded at DE and that pick can't even get on the field.

I don't know if Rodgers is attached to Douglas...but he is definitely attached to Hackett. And I can't see bringing in a new GM unless you totally clean house...and that ain't happening with Rodgers retirement hanging in the balance.

Remember this?

Are you ready to concede already? You can buy me a beer at a UConn game when you are. Mac Jones isn't setting the world on fire but he certainly looks way more poised than Zach Wilson.

I don't watch the Jets much but Wilson looks to be a meat head. He looked pretty good on that TD drive but other than that he looked like he just can't process the game very well.

They wrote this last year also. And to the credit of the Jets they went out and did that.

Alternate access:

The Jets say they are standing by Zach Wilson, but it’s time to find another quarterback

Absolutely not. I still don’t think Mac Jones will be a starting QB in 3 years. Belichick is doing a great job putting lipstick on a pig. They won’t sign him long term and he’ll wear a baseball cap for most games.

Which will still make him better than Zach Wilson. Which by definition of the bet means I win. :)

We said give it through next season so we will revisit this in 15 months.

The next morning and I am still frustrated. Douglas can't let the rest of the organization down by not bringing in another quarterback.

I worry about Wentz or Ryan...they probably aren't in game shape. But....they would be easy to get.

Cousins would cost too much...and I am not sure he would approve a trade anyway.

Most teams won't be willing to give up a top backup... look what happened in New Orleans yesterday.

I think Tannehill is a good option. He hasn't been good this year..and I haven't watched their games to know why. But...I believe he is a free agent this year and TN has two young quarterbacks. They most likely won't re-sign him. They might as well play their young guys now. I can't imagine he would cost that much. And he is in game shape.

But... Douglas has to get someone. The team is too good to just give up on this season and wait for Rodgers next year.

Absolutely agree. I was just running errands thinking “they better be in a war room running options and making calls today”. The thought of “we back Zach” has no teeth at all behind it and everyone knows it.

They both stink. There are no winners here...lol.
There are levels of stink. Wilson's stink is worse than Jones' stink. Which means at this point, and I admit it's still too early to call, Jones is better. Hence Deepster loses his bet if things continue this way.

Good lord.

Zach Wilson was 18 for 36 (50%) for 157 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT
Mac Jones was 15 for 29 (51.7%) for 201 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT

The only difference in both games was the NE 58 yd TD that was a blown cover 3 by Sauce.

If Gardner doesn't screw that up, they had the exact same friggin game.

So you're going to make a comparison of 2 players based off 1 game? I don't think that is appropriate. I don't know how anyone could.

I also said that Mac Jones hasn't been setting the world on fire but he certainly looks better than Zach Wilson. Can you ever admit you're wrong about anything? Holy cow, you are stubborn.

You’re here chirping after 1 game. And technically Wilson is the backup and you’re comparing him against the starter on a “former” contending franchise. That says it all.

No I'm not. Just an update. I posted 1 last season also after Wilson got benched. As I said above I don't watch the Jets very often but I was just surprised how clueless Wilson looked. And this post of yours has nothing to do with what you said 2 years ago.

So what would have to happen for you to admit you lost the bet? Would Jones have to win a Super Bowl and be an All Pro and Wilson be out of the league? The former will probably not happen but it feels like it would have to be that one sided for you to admit you were wrong. And considering how stubborn you are, I don't even know if that would do it.

We will revisit this in 15 months. Who knows, maybe Wilson turns things around by then.

I don’t think either of them are starting NFL QBs by then. You want a beer because Mac Jones May end up a little less because Belichick is a better coach? Good for you.

So.... Namath called out Zach.. Saleh...and Douglas. I have never heard him this angry.

I don't think doing nothing is going to be acceptable this week.

Admittedly, I am not a Namath fan. I don't feel like he supports the Jets because I think his existence is that he is their only bright spot.

He has always seemed to be a homer with his comments. I don't remember him being this critical.

Either way... Douglas is under a lot of pressure to do something. They can't keep riding with Rodgers buddy Boyle as the second QB. He is actually worse than Wilson..and that's saying something.

And another thing...Zach will not respond well to this pressure. He isn't the type of guy who uses the negative comments as fuel to succeed.

He will wilt under this pressure...like he always has. They really really need another quarterback to start. Where is Chris Streveler? Lol.

Just heard they’re signing Trevor Simian. I’m not sure he’s any better than what they have. Yikes.

Just wow. Is Wentz that much of a tool that he is unsignable?

Wentz has the QB version of the yips and has since he got hurt. Then the Eagles had the audacity to draft Jalen Hurts and he never stopped looking over his shoulder.

I don't think he's a tool. He's just not good.
