You crack me up.
My #3 mission in life. ;^)
You crack me up.
That's not ever...what she said. You're good - and you are fast.
Wow, Sonny out-Tonys Tony.Tony, no one seems to be answering your question: When will we lose?
So I will.
Next possible loss: 2015
Next possible loss with A'ja: 2017
How's that for starters?
Not so fast, we don't have a big bench if the refs start calling everything.
Doesn't matter. "Twice half twice" evaluates to 2 (half twice being once), which is the correct number. Even if you read it "Twice half" twice it comes out OK.
DD- they really had 2 superstars and a really really good supporting cast of players- Odyssey and BG- They had the talent and depth to really win it all- and they didn't. Best Point Guard by far and the most "dominate" post- they really did blow it!They always get everyone's best shot. They are NOT Baylor, who was more of a two trick pony with Griner and Sims.
Size is a funny thing - we were in the final four with Steph- and Maya sometimes at the 5 on defense when Steph was sitting and Samarie shipped out. We have had some pretty effective teams without alot of height. Stamford always has numerous trees and they havn't been effective especially latter years. I guess it's the right height. Versatility like Morgan has is critical- she can play anywhere and at 6'2' I don't think we get hurt at all with her as our 5. Breanna is like EDD, out of the park versatility, which certainly makes life easier. Strength in the post can sometimes neutralize height enough. St Johns beat us in Gampel with a short guard oriented athletic team. Not saying it isn't good to have! I was at Temple when if we did not sit Steph Dolson late and sub in the short guarc- Lauren Dixon, Georgetown would have beaten us. Our big team was not matching up and we were getting killed because Steph was too slow then when she was drawn out to defend. Similar to our loss to St Johns. Villanova Men won a NC with 4-5 guard offense yrs ago with Rollie M! I think they had no significant Bigs. having said that I have my fingers crossed re Aja like everyone else! For a program that has had 4 undefeated seasons, saying the best is yet to come is very heady. But I wondered about the new and improved Golden Age of UConn basketball myself. We have great classes from 2010, 2011, and 2012. Our 2013 class is small. We need to add more size in 2014. If we can get 3 of the top 6 in 2015, this could go on for a while, but more size is a key in 2014 and 2015.
I agree that there are ways to compensate for lack of size, but in 2015, we'll have Breanna, who seems to be pushing 6'5", and Morgan, who is very close to 6'1" in reality. No one committed in 2014 is over 6'0", and our top recruits in 2015 are a wing and a guard. I'd love to have a couple more Kiah Stokes-type players coming in soon, especially when UT and ND have skilled bigs.Size is a funny thing - we were in the final four with Steph- and Maya sometimes at the 5 on defense when Steph was sitting and Samarie shipped out. Who does ND have beside Reimer that is big and skilled?I agree that there are ways to compensate for lack of size, but in 2015, we'll have Breanna, who seems to be pushing 6'5", and Morgan, who is very close to 6'1" in reality. Achonwa. Oops , you mean going forward next year and after. Yes, Turner is big and skilled (as Cat pointed out) plus Westbeld is 6'2" I think(?).
How quickly I forgot about her. Terrific player.Turner is 6-3.
Beating UCONN this year will be a very tall order for any team, but I think if a team comes out with a great game plan, then anything is possible. First off, you can't run with UCONN, teams that try to run with them get blown out early and often. You have to slow the game down, don't let them have second chance points and rebound, rebound, rebound. Don't turn the ball over, find a way to break their intense defensive pressure. UCONN scores points in flurries and at a quick rate. Sorta how like Mike Tyson knocked people out early and often. If you can survive the early flurries, then you have a chance later on in the game.
Well, there ya go. I hope none of the opposing coaches see this gameplan.
, so they probably wouldn't know what to do with it eh..No, only one was an idiot.Well according to you, some of them are idiots, so they probably wouldn't know what to do with it eh..
3 of the top 6 seems a little unlikely, but 3 of the top dozen or so with some height is all Geno et. al. should need to keep the rockets roaring. For a program that has had 4 undefeated seasons, saying the best is yet to come is very heady. that is true MH- it does make it easier giving us a lot more flexibility and match up options!I agree that there are ways to compensate for lack of size, but in 2015, we'll have Breanna, who seems to be pushing 6'5", and Morgan, who is very close to 6'1" in reality. Notre Dame has quite a nucleus and some real young talent coming in. They really are going to be dangerous and really are building to be very good for next 4 yrs--- if their point guard pans out with their young and very talented front line--- they will be competitive for a while! How quickly I forgot about her. Terrific player.
Like what your saying however every great team has to have a smart point guard. ND is starting a freshman at the point this season. Could be an up and down season, I will take a wait and see approach.Notre Dame has quite a nucleus and some real young talent coming in. Although the PG is a frosh, I look more to the overall talent they have in the backcourt. Loyd and McBride are both top-tier, AA-caliber talents and IMO will lessen the impact of having a young PG. (And Mabrey is certainly no slouch.)
The current injury situation will slow them down for awhile, particularly with Achonwa out. But by the time the tournament rolls around, I suspect that ND will, once again, be outperforming most early expectations.
