Another little bit of Shelter In Place humor:

Day 1, I can do This!! Got enough food & wine to last a month!

Day 2, Opening my 8th bottle of wine. I fear wine supplies might not last !

Day 3, Strawberries: Some have 210 seeds, some have 235 seeds. Who knew??

Day 4, 8 pm. Removed my day Pajamas and put on my Night Pajamas!!

Day 5, Today tried to make Hand Sanitizer. It came out as Jello Shots !!

Day 6, I get to take out the Garbage. I'm so excited, I can't decide what to wear.

Day 7, Laughing way too much at my own jokes!!

Day 8, Went to a new restaurant called the Kitchen. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal ,
I have no clue how this place is still in business.

Day 9, I put liquor bottles in every room. Tonight I am getting all dressed up and going bar hopping.

Day 10, Struck up a conversation with a spider today. Seems nice speaking to a web designer.

Day 11, Isolation is hard, I swear my fridge just said what the hell do you want now?

Day 12, I realized why dogs get so excited about anything moving outside, going for walks, or car rides. I think I just barked at a squirrel.

Day 13, If you keep a glass of wine in each hand, you cannot touch your face.

Day 14, Watched the birds fight over a worm. The Cardinals lead the Blue Jays 3 to 1.

Day 15, Anybody else feel like they have cooked dinner 395 times this month already?
 
Life in Queens is pretty quiet, but for the sirens. Thank goodness it's spring, right?

Haven't been shopping in a weekor so. Plenty of food, but beginning to make a dent. Cooking some firsts: Make a lemon-capers chicken that was amazing (and easy). Cooked up my first cashew chicken. Yummy. And lots of leftovers (just call me a convert to the chicken thigh)

Am very fortunate to still have a job - but am doubtful it will exist past July 1. Fiscally okay. Keeping an eye on my two parents and their partners. 3 of them are 86, so.... '

Was saddened to see the great guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli was taken by COVID. I know he had had some health issues, but still. His wife passed a week later. The generational grief that is happening will take decades to work through.

Keeping my head low, as I don't want to be a burden on any of our EMS/Medical folks. There's a quiet, burning rage at the "hoaxers" that surges as unsuspected times. Banging pots at 7pm is a small thing, but it's cathartic.
 
I dreamed last night that I stood on our front lawn @7 pm and sang “ God Bless America”. I have a horrible voice but I love this country enough to embarrass myself. I have seriously considered doing it.

We are finishing up week 4 of "stay at home." in our Florida community. Hopefully it won't be much longer. Neighboring county is issued an edict that everyone must wear a face mask when in public starting Monday. Fortunately not the county we live in. Don't know how they are going to enforce it.

We went out today to our local, family operated fruit stand. Fresh oranges, pink grapefruit and peaches. Picked up a few ears of sweet corn and a couple of containers of rubs for steak and ribs. The stand also has fresh ice cream, homemade. Wife had a strawberry/ chocolate cone. It felt like we escaped solitary confinement.

I live in the country on a farm. My life, many days, is not too different than pre corona. I take care of cattle; "fix" things; manage the hay ground; and enjoy the outdoors. Dogwood trees and azaleas are blooming in the yard now and they're beautiful. Rainy days and Sundays are different. No church, or Sunday School; and Friday evening happy hour at the club doesn't exist. Easter will certainly be different. Toilet paper is available for a couple hours each morning at WalMart! I certainly feel for those in apartments or condos in big cities. And for the self employed and others who can't go to work. Also those business owners who are struggling. And I feel for those who are terrified, whether it is of sickness, economic ruin, or something else. Hope my boneyard friends stay safe and happy.

I am in NYC and I for one hope people continue wearing masks. Now about 90% of people on the streets are wearing a mask or alternative mouth/nose covering. In my opinion, this is a significant factor in helping slow the spread as evidenced in multiple far east nations (among other safeguards)

If it were possible to enforce it and we had enough for all, I am sure this would be part of the standard medical guidelines we would be given and it still boggles my mind the US cannot manufacture enough and make a point to disperse them in the hot zones at least.

Until we have a vaccine, everyone (who has access to one) should adopt this practice. I know I won't stop until a vaccine is available.

I’m in upstate NY. While my wife and I wear masks when we go to the supermarket or Home Depot, we are still in the minority. It’s changing though, albeit very slowly.

I just do not understand the logic of not wearing one (if it is available) when we have no idea if we are carrying the virus at a given moment (asymptomatic)

And as the curve starts flattening and we get a false sense of security in the nice summer months and the politicians start opening some of the businesses it may come back even stronger in the Fall if we are not vigilant now.

The Air Force Thunderbirds just did a 30 minute flyover saluting the healthcare workers and other front line people like grocery store workers here in the Vegas valley. It was televised by one of the local stations. They flew down the Strip less than 100' above the casinos, breathtaking.

It’s a beautiful gesture by New Yorkers to honor folks on the frontline fighting this virus. It started in Italy and has spread around the world. It now happens all throughout NYC at 7:00 pm when the shift change occurs for doctors, nurses and medical personnel at hospitals around the city.

What is so annoying is that they have shut down all golf courses in NYS. If you can't practice social distancing in 400+ acres than you can't do it anywhere.
 
Checkout the age group and case per 100,000 in each group. This virus is made for old folks. Yikes! This is a CDC website. Click on All Age Groups and click off 65+. Yikes! Not liking my age group!

The Johns Hopkins site has now added data on number of tests preformed by state in the US - currently at 2.8M which represents about 0.9% of the population. With 556,000 positive tests that works out to be about 1 in 5 test administered. But the numbers of positive results/number of tests by state varies greatly from around 1 in 2 to under 1 in 10.

Here in Nevada the golf courses were also closed. The main reason was because they were not social distancing, i.e. 2 people to a cart.
 
Golf courses are closed here in NY. A few days ago during Gov Cuomo’s daily briefing, a reporter who plays golf, asked the Gov if it would be OK to take a few clubs and walk the course to get some exercise. The Gov smiled and said I have to think about that. Then he said, if anyone asks you what you’re doing, tell them you’re hiking.....

Courses are closed in Maryland by order of the governor. I live down the street from a country club. They effectively closed, so no carts, about a week before the order. So people were walking the course, being very good about distancing. Now there's hazard tape across all the possible entrances, and nobody on the course.

Seems silly to me. The governor could order no carts. Sometimes I think the powers that be don't ever take mental health into consideration.
 
So the CDC comes up with regulations for golf courses. 1 person per cart, no ball washers, no rakes in the bunkers and putting pool noodles at the bottom of the flag stick so the ball doesn't go to the bottom of the cup. All these things that all golf courses were following and ...wham, politicians know better

I have a friend who lives near Hilton Head. Those are the practices at his local course. Because of the limited number of carts and time required for cleaning them, a player is allowed a cart only every second day. Sounds reasonable to me.
