75 bucks is the meal price if you dont finish. You get a shirt for trying. If you finish you dont pay for dinner and get your name up. Competive eaters do it all the time.

So is vomiting allowed here? Like a strategic purge midway before powering through? I feel that chugging the boot halfway would likely trigger that.

Back in early 2002 when resorts were still hurting from 9/11, a friend and I unwisely used a chunk of our severance pay from being laid off from a travel dotcom to fly down to Our Lucaya for some golf. Place was pretty deserted, maybe 20-25% capacity. Their restaurant ran a steak challenge as a promo along with golf discounts to attract US travelers. I want to say it was 64oz but I can't find the certificate to prove that. We both did it, but it took the better part of an hour and the next morning we both shot about eight strokes higher and played at least a half hour slower than the day before. I've had much better steaks. These days I doubt I'd even want to tackle a cowboy steak.
 
Im praying someone is up for the challenge today.


Ive got the live stream on in a second window. Watching them to prep work. Looks like they are blistering peppers on grill right now.

oh man, woman chef doing prep has huge rings on almost every finger. Sanitation nightmare.
 
Route 66 roadie friends and I have eaten there a couple of times but none of us ever tried the 72 oz. challenge. Also stayed overnight at the Big Texan Motel and tossed down a few cold ones at the pool. Lots of good times.
