So why don't you guys just apologize to Geno and UConn already? You'll feel better and it may turn things around.
Yes, the LV are being haunted by the curse of the Italiano.

It really is Nan. On the one hand you have Holly, who stutters and stammers through press conferences like she doesn't know a thing about basketball and on the other hand you have someone like Geno who just has a presence about him. He is very confident and you can see that same confidence in his team and players. To me, great coaches like Geno and Pat just have that air of confidence about them and they also are able to instill discipline into their teams. That's probably an oversimplification, but it's the best way I can describe it,,
Neil Ivey would be one of my first interviews- ND makes it happen annually. They run offense like us- a mirror image many years. Yo know- Phil Simms said to Bill Parcells wkg in the portal for introductions at the Washington Redskin stadium- " Bill- they really hate us down here"- Parcells replied, "don't kid yourself, they hate us so much- they love us"! Geno won't be here forever. And never mind the emotional detachment we'll go thru, how the program fares over time will be interesting to say the least. :)

The 43 points Tennessee scored against the Hokies was the lowest point total ever in program history. Yikes.

I occasionally check out VolNation. They have numerous threads screaming for Warlick's head and speculation on a new coach. One Vol fan suggested they hire Geno, to which several responded "No. We will never hire the satan." :D They're funny. Many other posters, however, had significant interest in UConn, suggesting...
"Get Chris Dailey, Shea Ralph or Marisa Moseley from UConn as head coach of the LadyVols and let them put the UConn (offense) system in."

Assuming Warlick goes - I don't think a look at Shea Ralph would be so far fetched and I think that she would give the UT job serious consideration.

If nothing else it would spare her the fan crap that's gonna' hit the UConn fan if she replaces Geno and the team goes down the tubes ala UT.

Well, they're going to Wichita State for their next game
A team even more dysfunctional then they are (if that is possible).
Four members quit over the summer over abuse claims.
All of last season's starters are gone.
And the team is hard pressed to win anything.
Of course, if the UTenn mob is determined to demonstrate its collective passivity
Anything could happen.

Still no Margo (12:07)

They play the next four games on the road and the middle two are Stanford and Oregon State - how about losing two of the next three to really discourage the fans and possibly even drop them from the top 25?

Yes, please! And hopefully even further discourage future recruits from the program?!!

I say, Shea stays and Kara goes

I am curios. Does Holly have a buyout clause? Is Tennessee Womens Basketball considered a revenue sport?
She does have a buyout clause. If Holly resigns, she would have to pay liquidated damages to the University equal to the sum of 33% of her annual salary for the contract year the termination occurs.

If the Univ terminates Holly without cause, she will receive the remaining salary on her contract, minus mitigation from new employment.

Holly is pretty much in the drivers seat and there isn't much incentive for her to resign if the money means something to her. My guess is if she is fired, she'll just retire, or at least take the remainder of her contract time to ride her motorcycle and cash checks.

And no, it's not a revenue sport, but it's been close in the past.

Always liked that kid, especially when she teamed up with Stewie, Mo and Morgan on the National team.
I remember a wonderful pix of them palling around in some hallway, tight as brothers and happy as heck.

What a disaster her college experience has been, what a shame.
But playing with team-mates like Stewie, Mo, and Morgan who shared the ball, unlike DD, she excelled. Stewie would never go 6-18, no assists, and have Morgan only get 5 shots. The difference between a great player, and an average player, who thinks of self before team.

This is my opinion is one of the problems Tenn has had over the years....dependency on one player. BB is a team game not a one player game. In the past Ive seen one player teams where the rest of the team just sits back and waits for that one player to score. DD didn't have problems at UNC. As I mentioned in another post Tenn has a lot of problems beginning with attitude, too many coaches, the alums wanting monies to go to football and not WBB and no team ball. Either Holly rebuilds Tenn into her team or find an experienced coach who can.

Finally, finally
Margo is up
full 20 minutes
Haven't heard it yet
Wanted to spread the news

Margo
:
On D, 3-point shots always open. It's killed us for years

When Diamond started playing she was passing when she started, wanted to figure out how the team operates
tried to be a team player. Careful about what she;s saying,
She's a big-time player...they're mind is different...Candice, Michael Jordan, superstar
She's thinking too much...Let Diamond be Diamond

Graves great O rebounder, she needs to do that...needs to get the ball...needs Cooper to get her the ball on dribble penetration.
Carter, good defense, but not looking for shot so her player is a floater on D
She wants to define rolls...know you're roll
Offense outdated, but proven winner when the pieces do what they're supposed to do

Not on Holly bandwagon but
Name me a coach who will walk in and do better
The coach has to define roles

Mercedes has to be in the paint. had a strong game
These girls were scores, when we got them they were scorers...passes inside are stolen...make your shots
Not about X and O's about heart, passion
Don't get down on yourself, play the role you are supposed to.
Be great in your role.
If Andrea is wide open take shot...don't drive and lose the ball
This is where everyone defines your roles, does't care what the polls say
No more losses, we're winners
We believe

I've always enjoyed Margo vids and I still haven't seen the whole game
But she seems delusional, not so different from Holly, well a little with her clearly defined rolls
Won't put her finger on the essence of the problems.
It's possible that if DeShields has a green light, if Cooper penetrates and dishes and if Mercedes is there to clean up, they'll win
quite a few games...but they'll lose a bunch too
There's a little more to the game that the Summit/Holly?Margo approach
And i'm afraid she's going to be sore disappointed.
Amazing that she's still upbeat now.
Like i say...delusional

In case anyone needed a laugh this morning, here's an article from the Chattanoogan: Leave Holly Alone

The chuckle-worthy comments are: "I absolutely guarantee unless you could pry Gino Auriemma away from UConn, you would not find a better coach than Holly Warlick." Note the misspelling of "Geno" that really lends authority to his position. and then "I dare anyone to name a person who would do a better job than Holly Warlick does at Tennessee."

I mean, Karen Aston has made Tennessee look bad two years in a row. And Dawn Staley has made South Carolina into the pre-eminent program in the south and took SC to the Final Four while Holly's been treading water. But sure nobody could do better. Uh Uh. Now, let me tell you about some great deals on oceanfront property in Arizona.

Of course, it suits those of us who enjoy laughing at TN's slow demise (43 points against Va Tech! That still has me in stitches) just fine to leave Holly alone.

Has anyone ever seen any indication that Catchings wants to or can coach. Many great players have been tremendous failures as coaches. Trying to find an untested and no experience alum to coach the LV is not an approach I would take.
I would, I would definitely take that approach.

Hmmm...wonder if Ivyleague wrote the article....

OMIGOD, how dare you bring up Randy "Think again Geno that you are on the same level as Pat Summitt and 2014's 'In all fairness to him, I personally believe that, as hard as it may have been for Auriemma, he was trying to compliment Coach Summitt' worm-boy" Smith. Two years ago after UConn won its 9th NC, he was the arse-clown who wrote the Chattanooga.com diatribe against Geno's gracious tribute to Pat that had even the UTenn fans calling him an idiot, and he was obviously made by his media site to go contrite and post a kind-of apology confessing how little he knew about anything. At least then he knew how to spell Auriemma's first name though. That he is now calling Geno the best coach in WCBB and the only one better than Warlick is just too smarmy to ready without blowing lunch.

Orang, I may have to post five new threads about ND's second half defense last night in retaliation for you dragging RS back on this site.

Interesting

There was Orange-speak that loyal alumns pontification might be the nail in the coffin for Holly.

At least three such personages Glory, Hornbuckle and most visibly Tamika Catchings attended the last debacle of a game and followed it up with practice appearances and words of encouragement for the team.

All positive, no criticism of coach or players, spoke of having the pieces but needing to jell...Holly followed it up with a the sky is not falling in.

Still no public word from Holdsclaw or Candace Parker.

The up-coming road trip, especially after the first stop will be a test of their ability to quickly become a functioning team.

Many, including myself habor some doubts.
