my bracket is not doing well, however, I picked MD over Tenn on this game! I just thought Tenn have not come together as a team. Although sometimes MD sometimes in the season appeared to be a one woman team but at least she had always be consistent. There has not been an affective leader on the floor for Tenn.
 
Whenever you see Simmons make a three, you know that no other Vol is likely to get another shot in the next five minutes unless they get an offensive rebound off one of her shots. That was basically the story of the last 5 minutes of the half. Simmons made a three at the 4:56 mark and proceed to take 5 more shots going o-5 to close the half. The rest of the team ... 1-2 with the one made being an offensive put back by Graves of a Simmons miss.

But Carter (even if she's not having a great game)
revived the UTenn offense by effectively feeding the posts.
Which Massengale never did.

Puh-leese. This is Tennessee, it is never meaningless. And my hatred for Tennessee is only on the hardwood. I wish Pat all the best. She is a great coach and pioneer for the women's game.
 
Wow - just checked and MD got 12 more shots than TN in the half - neither team shooting well, but 6 more TOs for TN plus three fewer offensive boards. Add in TN getting fouled in the act of shooting a few more times to get to the 12 shot differential.
 
So now we're at half-time
And UTenn is in a position they've been in many times this season.

So what's going to happen?
Will Tennessee's bigs take over the game, wear Maryland down and pull out the game?
Or will they get behind by an additional 5-7 points, panic and go back to Knoxville with their tails between their legs?

I rather think the latter.

Every time there's a break, you know that Simmons isn't going to pass it. I think she's had about 6 or 7 and only scored once.
 
I picked Maryland to win....... but I wouldnt shed any tears to see them lose.

A most sloppy game by both teams....Turnovers galore. Missed lay ups. Very frustrating.
 
This state of affairs is hardly surprising and heartily pleasing. However, late game flat spells have plagued Maryland this year so this one will not be over til it is over.

On the other hand UT also can wake up and score in bunches.

I'd love to see Tennessee go down today. If not, and they lose to Louisville, they will cry foul at having to play on their home court. (And have a good case, IMO)
 
Russell seems pretty good, I don't know why they don't try and run a play through her. It's all one and done with the Tennessee guards

Refs have decided to get involved. What little flow there was is gone. Unwatchable. If it wasn't the tournament, I'd clean dog poop from the yard instead.

They have a 6'6 post and they never even try to get it inside (unless you count jacking up shots and hoping she gets a board). Russell would have been better off at Louisville, she would have gotten better coaching.
