Tell me about the NEW Big Ten

Not sure if people have seen/listened to "They've Got Next" by Mark Schindler, but he's been releasing some "WNBA 2025 WNBA Draft Film Room" clips and I've found them pretty informative but it's also been neat to hear these players talk game. The most recent episode featured the first Big Ten player in the series in Dalayah Daniels from UW.

I really liked hearing her talk through her mind on the court. She seems like a really high IQ player who is oozing with confidence.

Daniels flashes some real potential, but she's been frustratingly inconsistent in her 2 years with Washington. She can be dominant, and then she can completely disappear.

I don't like to see this.

Syla is already in a boot. Hopefully just precautionary.

Interesting tidbit on Iowa and their post presence for this season. Sounds like Stuelke could be more of a 4 instead of a post this year. Also nice to hear that O'Grady is progressing.

I think Iowa, especially under Bluder, did a lot of the original Read and React positionless basketball back in the mid 2012-15 range and that could work well for Stuelke.

Hate to be that predictable "homer guy" but hard to let this comment slide by. I am guessing that people are sleeping on Oregon this year because of last year's disastrous season where things spiraled out of control. But Graves is a proven, successful coach and will be back.
The Ducks return just four players from last season so this will be a major, complete rebuild in both personnel and, likely, style.

-Key returnee is 6'8" Senior Philippina Kyei of course, #3 Rebounds per Game in nation last year, # 6 in Total Rebounds. A very strong and athletic presence that will be a handful for the Big 10 opponents.
-Also returning will be 6'1" Wing Sofia Bell, a Freshman starter last season injured for last part of season and sorely missed.
-Starting Point Guard and Grad Transfer Peyton Scott was injured 5 minutes into the first game and missed the entire season. Ducks had no true, experienced point guard the rest of the season and the subs had to learn on the fly. They didn't.
-In the off season the Ducks have added an elite presence in ACC All Star Deja Kelly who has on ball qualities lacking last year.
- additional size up front will include 6'4" Texas transfer Amina Muhammad, 6'3" returning Soph Sarah Rambus, and newcomers like Alexis Whitfield and Ehis Etute.
-rest of the team is deep and experienced but I am not including the laundry list here.
-After years of being a top assist/turnover top team under Graves the Ducks dropped to #136 last season. They also ranked #236 in 3 point percentage and #242 in FG percentage all very uncharacteristic numbers for an Oregon (or Graves) basketball team.
-looking forward to the rebuilt team and a return to high efficiency basketball.
To me, Oregon has been in a death spiral since Mark Campbell left

To me, Oregon has been in a death spiral since Mark Campbell left
When did Campbell leave Oregon? Had to be around '21 or the '22 season. We will see if Oregon can bounce back a little. I hope so. I love their program and Coach Grave is a solid coach. He just has to get players that buy into his vision for the program. What is the "Why?" We shall see what Oregon does this season. I can't wait!! They are coming to the Barn and the Crisler Center!

Death spiral may be a little strong after one bad (really bad) year 2023-2024. Campbell left before the 2021-2022 season. Oregon finished 20-12, second place in Pac-12 (11-6), and made the NCAA tournament. In 2022-23 the Ducks finished 20-15 and advanced to the quarter finals of the NIT. 2023-2024 was a disaster...no question.

He was coaching at Sacramento state beginning in 2021. So his last year at z Oregon was 2020/21. The Covid bubble year the year after the Ducks one loss aborted tournament year. Tehina Paopao was in his last (21) class at Oregon. She was set to transfer to him at TCU until Dawn called.

Glad to see some former Huskies play well vs Seton Hill (corrected as I read too fast):

Amari - 10 pts (4-7, 2-2 FT), 7 rebounds in 18 mins
Mir - 9 pts (3-4, 3-4 FT), 15 (!!) rebounds in 20 mins

It was Seton Hill — a D2 school.

I thought they couldn’t keep score at the scrimmages nor publish the results?

Well I also didn’t think they could have exhibitions before Nov 1. :D
Well, we had an Exhibition on October 15 and it was televised. And we played a D-1 opponent. (Memphis) remember Iowa played an Exhibiition against a D-1 in the football stadium last year.

D-1 exhibitions are allowed only if all proceeds from ticket sales go to charity . In our case, St Jude’s children’s hospital.

“Scrimmages” between D-1’s are supposed to be closed

The daunting challenge that USC will be for the BIG holdovers is demonstrated by JuJu’s and Kiki’s selection this week to the AP pre-season AA (first team). In the 30-year history of the AP AA team (a 5-player team), no BIG team has ever had 2 AP 1st Team All Americans in the same season. Also, no BIG team has even had a 1st and 2nd team AP AA in the same year.

With USC also featuring 2-time All-PAC-12 guard Talia van Oelhoffen and 6 other McDonald AAs (8 w/JuJu and Kiki), the USC roster is likely the most talented roster in BIG WBB history.

On paper I would say it’s one of the most talented teams in all history. Preseason!

Yeah, that USC squad looks pretty good. If they can put it all together and develop that chemistry, OMG!!

I was at the game and I didn't expect much from DeBerry. I thought she looked very good in the post with a very nice touch around the basket. She made 4 quality shots in the game. She was a defensive presence in the post as well.

Did Te'Biasu get time in the game? Curious as to your thoughts on how she did. Really hoping she has a strong season in her final year and at this level
