Yes and once he does, he will be completely unstoppable, he’s almost there now. He’s still learning from our staff. If you watch closely he makes a lot of mistakes, they will go away and he will be one of or the most dominant player in college.

Totally agree on your post.
For a body type like Reed Jr. another off season of conditioning in turning some of that poundage into lean muscle should do wonders.
I know we were hoping to get the portal center out of Rutgers (Omoruyi), but no regrets now.

That floater for a man his size is really not something you see too much. I mean Jokic a few other but he has raw power and finesse. It is clear to see why he was so highly rated coming out of high school.
He is so talented he probably could coast at the high school level then never coached up to adapt to the level of competition in college.
I wonder how he shoots from 15ft in. Or even the three point line. Not that we are going to use him like that but if he looked at the basket at all when he gets the ball up high, look what happened when Sanogo starting doing that. I think Reed may be the one of the most offensively skilled true center we have had. Mek was not nearly the size of this guy. The only comparison I can think of on size not length is Drummond.

I have never been a Samson believer. HOWEVER, those 9 minutes against Texas and the Baylor game were encouraging. I can see a stud because of his speed relative to other bigs. Praying he stays out of foul trouble

Statistically very close. Thanks for posting them.
The intangibles not shown by these statistics (particularly for Clingan when in the game) is the number of altered shots or the number of times opponents backed away from shooting near the basket when Clingan moved towards them, or when their shot trajectory was altered.
Immeasurable were those factors, and not shown on any box score. Quite a skill set.

That is 3 monrhs from now. If Singare plays 10 mins/game for the next 20+ games he just might be reliable enough for some minutes in an Elite 8 game.

Definitely more Adama, Okafor was a more vertical 5. He has a ways to go to be Adama in terms of using the pump fake and footwork but feels capable. Adama was always so in control with the ball with those strong hands, Tarris feels more rushed. Adama was also a master at using his shoulder just enough to get space and then slipping to the rim. Tarris is more athletic than Adams.
Absolutely, Hurley et al gotta be looking ahead at what they might need, besides the core 6
1. Nowell ready
2. Singare ready
3. Stewart ready
4. Ross ready
Those 4 guys(in order of importance) create a buffer for problems that might arise. Also can help grind the other teams down with fresh legs.
I’ve been very impressed with reed. I’ve noticed lots of improvement even since the season started. Kid’s gonna be great.

At 4:15 this guy says some garbage about reed that has not aged well at all, and is just rude and awful anyway. These guys should not have a podcast at all.

Yeah, they've decided they're gonna do that thing where they "give him credit" in that smarmy tone that lets you know they absolutely don't mean it, and then nitpick any mistake he makes from here on out.
He could make first team all Big East, and the video about it wouldn't be congratulating him (except smarmily), it'd just be trashing the Big East.

Too early for this call about Singare. He will have minutes to grow his game and has been a solid contributor.

Tarris was a terror and seemed to get stronger as the game went on. Love his determination to clear space and grab rebounds. His opponents seem to get worn down the longer he is on the floor. We'll have to see how he does against other large centers later in the year. The area for improvement is setting picks that don't involve moving the upper body, just hold the pick or set a double pivot pick.

He is getting there and Sanogo was everything he says, but…Tarris has the potential to be better. It is a shame looking at the video that @aceboon posted on Tarris in high school that he was not developed more at MI. Dusty is showing the world how bad a coach Juwan is. This young man is uber talented. That floater in the lane looked so pure and not something he just tried for the first time in that game.
Sanogo used that shot occasionally at first it was not so good. But he ended up making a few. But even on that floater Reed had a lane and already has the explosiveness that he could have split the defense and dunked. I think Luke was talking to him about it during the next time out.
If Tarris has the season I think he is going to have there is no way he does not get some draft interest. Look at him shoot threes in high school. He is going to be a monster for us by BE and Tourney time. I really think if it was not for the foul trouble we could see more of Reed and Johnson on the floor together. Now we have Singare as a legitimate 5-7 minute eater who won’t hurt us on the floor.
Agree with your comments on Adama.Keep in mind he was a small (height-wise) 5 usually giving up 3-5 inches vs his defenders. So his use of footwork-getting good position in the paint-his strength and power-were all parts of the package that made him so efficient .He was not an explosive fast twitch 5 but compensated at an extremely high rate with his consistency and efficiency once the ball was in his hands with his precise moves. Stop me if you can-They could not. BTW-Its still working for him in the G League.
Maybe Dan could arrange for Adama to meet Tarris when we play at Depaul? Assuming of course if AS is available with his games for Chicago/G League.

His form and rotation on the 3 was amazing. There are many times he is out there at the 3 point line wide open. Wonder what he would shoot out there and have they done it on practice. Why not?

Unless one of those three other than Ross become better perimeter defenders everyone is going to deal with Ross coming in first. Again look at the game film. Ross is our best perimeter defender and we are one of the worst teams in the country defending the three point shot. Liam is going to stay on the floor as is AK (unless foul trouble) for 35 minutes plus a game. Stewart is not quick enough to guard quick 6’4” to 6’6” wings or 2 guards that can shoot the three. So he really only can sub in for Liam or AK even though he is the most talented (if Tarris does not start) player we have on the bench.
