Then Hurley shouldn’t be the guy. It’s Year 5, we’re UConn, and we are in power basketball league. If you can’t get to the second weekend, we have a problem.
The only thing that is holding me back from that thought is our recruiting class for next year.

13 assists & 21 turnovers?? C'mon. This team will win nothing with those stats at home. The biggest flaw is this team has no true PG. You can blame Hurley for poor recruiting or development, but this team needs a legit floor general to be able to win consistently against good teams.

This teams man to man defense is not good. In fact, it’s terrible. We are consistently letting teams drop 80 on us.

We need to run a basic 2-3 zone with Clingan in the middle and clog up the paint. I don’t know how else we fix this problem because I don’t see our man defense getting much better

So if Hurley got URI into the top 25 and won games in the NCAAT, you’re essentially saying that UConn brings him zero extra capabilities to improve.

It’s unreal how much people like to use Hurley as the scapegoat for absolutely abysmal offensive execution. We look like deer in headlights when playing behind.

We can talk about his defensive rotations, sure.

But the PG passive play and turnovers are not on him.

I’m begging for one of the Hurley haters to tell me who they think would be a reasonable & attainable replacement
Even if we lost the rest of the games this season which we obviously won’t, Hurley deserves to bring in his top 5 class next season and see what he can do with it.

What about RJ Cole? He was pretty good for two years, no?

But I do agree, Newton is not the guy I thought he'd be and right now we are screwed at the PG position until someone steps up, if at all.

Great UConn teams have a dog at PG and Newton isn't a dog.
Yeah I was expecting waaay more from Newton

Burn the game tape, show me the halftime speech.

I want to know what adjustments were communicated to the players, and what the plan was to win from a 0 halftime margin, in a home game.

The average second half deficit grew today from 10 to 11 for the team's four losses.
Our season is looking more and more like UConn 2020 and UConn 2021
Shot selection in the second half shows this clearly.

Lol it’s year 5. Why are these still issues?

Sanogo was a disaster today. He was constantly waiting for a double team to come instead of being aggressive, and he waited until it was too late to pass, and Soriano ate his lunch.
Amen! He takes too long to decide instead of just going up STRONG. He invites the double team.

At this point, can’t see us beating a first round matchup. Were gonna end up a 4 seed AT BEST.
Cannot believe I am saying this. "The Party is over". Great start of the season Then came Big East play. The opposing coaches are doing a great scouting on our pups. I am not upset to the point of throwing things around the house. Two years ago The basketball Guru's said were a final 4 team. Bounced first round. Then last year. Same thing. Same scenario. Now this years all the sports basketball gurus saying we are best in the country. I am not listening to that crap anymore. We are easy to scout. Providence got beat yesterday.

So you can look at KenPom all you want. Not going there. Don't want to hear the basketball gods about our talented team. Don't care about the rankings. It will not surprised me if we are out of the top ten. 4-4 in Big East play. What happened. Ref's?I didn't see anything they did that was out of the norm.

Year 5 sure.
Do you remember where we were in year 1 & 2?
Oh yeah, the American, and a complete dumpster fire of a program.

Something’s got to give. There needs to be some kind of change, mix up the rotation/starters, offensive philosophy (more free flow and less structured).

Maybe dropping out of the top 10 will let the kids relax a little bit too.
Out of the top 10? Hoping we “receive votes” at this point. There’s more than 25 teams better than this one right now.

It brought tougher competition. That's what it brought. Whatever he's adding to the mix, it isn't much, clearly

Only idiots are saying he should be fired. I still believe it's all about March. The chatter will rightfully die down if we make an elite 8 run. If we flame out after 0 or 1 wins again... it's time for tough conversations.

Until Danny stops talking about "individual defense" and realizes that getting right up on offensive players 20 feet from the basket is not good for team defense we will see more of the same.

We have seen this in other years. Pressuring the ball 20 feet out is self-destructive. It does eliminate some three point shots but it opens up the interior of defense. And that is where we are getting killed.

But after every game he keeps talking about "individual" defense.

PG play combined with having dominated the first 14 games of the season without even being behind in the second half.

Well he for sure wishes he had Jalen Adams and Christian Vital on this team I’m sure from those first two years. They’ve been better than any guard during the Hurley era save Bouknight and maybe Hawkins.

And considering that SJU is around #85 or so, based on the ratings comparison at Massey's, i'd say that number is no less than 100

Deflating. We've played 0 good/complete games in Big East play. I thought we had an elite team. 4-4 says otherwise. Oh well. On to the next, go Huskies.

If it came down to it, which I hope it doesn’t. Would like to see how Kimani does.

Jalen Adams would be the savior this team needs.

Hard to say that Bouknight Hawkins Martin and Cole aren’t enough to bring in?

Again, it took 3-4 years to make UConn even relevant again, let alone bringing in 4 and 5 star recruits.
