I think Zion starts…Robertson won’t be totally healthy…not sure how good Fagnano is… he could be the dark horse… but Zion won a bunch of games for them … I think its his job to lose

Tim Boyle is a good example of a freshman who regressed during his freshman season, he ended up doing very well for himself, although it took a while.
Boyle immediately showed that he had one outstanding tool (arm). I remember a few drops then he kind of melted down.
Acknowledging that these guys are kids and are working really hard to improve, I didn’t see any one thing from ZT that said to me, “this guy might be very good”. What we did see if a lot confidence and good leadership. Hope he can get the most out of his physical abilities and take a big step.
The play from that position has to be better this year and no one knows that more that coach.

I felt like ZT had way too much wrong with him... not fast enough, decision making, accuracy. He might fix one or two of those he won't fix them all. TR obviously the injury. We here have nothing on Fagnano unless you love maine.

Shot in the dark is I would say its 1/2. TR/F on the basis that I don't see ZT improving that much this soon. If ZT had speed I'd put him at the top but he just doesn't. I do hope for the most growth from him but growth doesn't necessarily get you the ball.

Fagnano has the experience and is familiar with Charlton's offense. Turner has a whole year of playing time under his belt, but showed little improvement. Roberson had the nod last year but got injured. Honestly, I think it'll either be Roberson and Fagnano. Turner gets a redshirt.
Agree on the Redshirt given everything else being equal

Nothing on Fagnano? 4 YEARS OF D1 STATS is nothing? in that case we have negative looks on Ta’Quan

I have a feeling it's going to to be Fagnano. He's familiar with the system and probably didn't come here expecting to sit..I have also heard from someone within the program that he has a really good arm, but time will tell.

Didn't realize Fagnano has 2 years of eligibility left per UConn roster page.
I just assumed it was one year... will be interesting?

edit: Better question. Is the wildcat a feature or a bug of this offense? Does that change potential roles? Do we see ZT being the wildcat option to keep him happy if somebody else starts?

We don't need to keep anyone happy when everyone is set to return and we are bringing in Cole Welliver

Not to mention he has played against NCST. The time to start Fagnano is the next game.

I don’t have a clue which one is going to start opening night, but the thought that Zion should start not because he wins the job but because he started against them last year in a game where they blew us out from the first series is, with all due respect, more than a little bizarre.

Well he did get almost 50 yards combined passing and running in the game.

Nah, it's not. Fagnano may have a lot of snaps but none of those were against a team at NCST's level. Wanna see his confidence and poise disappear in the blink of an eyelash? Let him start the first game.

So if Fagnano wins the job you don't want to start our best QB because you don't want him to become deflated? And you'd rather concede your home opener when you have an extra two days to get ready for next week anyway?

I know you are a huge fan, but if this was your first post I'd assume you were trolling us. That really is absurd. Mora is going to play the QB that he and the staff think gives us the best chance to win. And if Fagnano or Roberson was such a freaking snowflake that they couldn't get ready for Georgia State -- Georgia State -- because they lost badly to a midlevel ACC team at home, they're not able to lead a team anyway.

Things change year over year. if Roberson comes out ahead 2 years in a row he should start even if he has a short adjustment period. I feel like he has a head for the position and it won't take long. We have possibly 4 guys in competition and the future looks very good.

Fagnano threw for 289 yards versus Boston College. And that means nothing as well.
