Here’s a guy who talked about a gutty win and yet everyone is talking about Donny’s announcing skills. Now your last 5-6 posts have hammered people for their point of view? Hypocrisy?

We know you love trashing UConn players and alums @mauconnfan, not engaging with you any further.

I agree. Not surprised UConn had a bit of a letdown coming off the emotional Wednesday win, and Seton Hall was well prepped after a week off. I think this bye for UConn really comes at the ideal time.

They had 7 days off, were fresh and we had 3. They played very hard and made difficult shots in the lane and 9-18 from 3. Game plan was to guard them inside and give up the 3 because they were 300+ ranked out there. I gotta say though that we did not mail it in, they hit contested shots.

I agree at this point. I feel like he’s just in so many of our games that he’s getting extremely lazy with research and his storylines. He has nothing insightful to say when he does her games anymore.

This game was Hall's season - they win that one, they very well could have been bubble in. We just came off a 32 point blowout. Was expected, but that was too close.

I wished I could share your optimism. We have been playing with fire all season. They need to go to group therapy. St John's game gives you an idea of the potential they have. I'm starting to understand where Danny has been coming from and think I have been too critical.
Some guys really giving their all. Some guys just look clueless. Tough season for Alex but so happy he finishes on a great game. A great captain and he still has some way to go with the year end tourneys.

What a performance!! Silas played hard through all the holds, reaches, bumps and was solid on both ends. His steal late and feed to Mullins which resulted in 2 FTs was huge. Reed better 2nd half but disappointing overall. 10 boards worked out but need that Wednesday guy a lot more to finish this thing.

Dodged a bullet but that’s what good teams do. Not concerned with the miss or whatever call late as they missed a ton of holds and bumps all game on the other end. Overall refs were ok even though they weren’t lol….next

Need to keep James away from penetration in a week. Good news is they have time to prepare.

Seton Hall played desperate as their at-large bid chance into the tourney was on the line. They also shot well above their season average from 3.

A gritty win, a few to many turnovers for my liking but SH defense was very physical.

Alex Karaban played like a leader today, thank you Alex and welcome to the Huskies Hall of Fame. Well deserved. Shall you never have to buy a drink in a CT bar for the rest of your life.

That game had loss written all over it. Actually pretty impressed the boys gutted that one out with the way the game was going.

I think the staff needs to design and run some plays for Silas. Need to get him some shots. We need a better #2 PG. Malachi struggles running the offense.

When the ball goes to Smith, the offense dies because all he does is dribble all over the court and then like clockwork shoot a contested three against a guy that’s about 6 inches taller than them.

Not that ugly, given Seton Hall’s hot shooting. Gonna need to hit free throws consistently in the tourney.

The FTs are a concern but it's mainly Reed. If you remove Reibe's and his FTs on the season this team shoots 76.7% as a team. Problem is that Reed is second on the team in FT attempts. Clearly his poor shooting will not improve this year.

I'm giving this one a pass. SHU shot lights out. Maybe a week off revives them for Marquette, but I can see that game being close too. I think this team needs the elimination games to get their juices flowing.

We're not some of these top teams, that are going to just run teams due to physical dominance. We need high energy to convert what we do. The ups and downs tend to follow that.

I don't undertand it, he's such a great player. We're really good offensively but obviously not good enough on that end of the floor for Silas to decide he's never going to shoot. The staff has to get it in his head that we need him to shoot the ball. He should have a minimum of 10 shots every game.

Today every time he tried to score he either had his shot block or turned the ball over. He was just in a funk today. Fortunately his teammates picked up the slack

They were 0-18 in the last game against Gtown and only attempted 10 in a loss to DePaul before that. A team that can't hit a 3 and doesn't try hit 9-18 today. I'll call it an anomaly and say this was a very good performance for us.

Alex bailed us out. If he isn’t Superman, we get dumped Creighton-style.

Like 48 hours after getting confirmation that our depth is a huge advantage, Dan Hurley again shortened the bench and we immediately went back to being life and death with a scrub SH team.

Anyway, on to Marquette and rooting against SJU later on.

Oh, you mean the “80-year-old coach” Geno Auriemma — the one who actually stuck up for the men after the win over St. John's men's basketball? Yeah, that guy. Crazy idea: a Hall of Famer backing the program instead of panic-posting like it’s a five-alarm fire.
“SHU scrub team,” you say... 19–10 and already proved they can grind with us the first time around. That’s an interesting definition of “scrub.” If they’re that bad, what does that make a hard-fought conference win?
And Alex stepping up late? That’s not a bailout that’s called having a closer. Good teams have one. If every tight finish equals “we’re doomed without Superman,” March might be a stressful month for you.
As for Dan Hurley tightening the rotation, welcome to competitive basketball. Depth is an advantage. So is riding the hot hand. Both can be true without the sky falling over Storrs.
Anyway, on to Marquette. Maybe let Hurley handle the steady leadership while you keep perfecting the dramatic narration.

They didn’t call the 40 time they fouled Demary throughout the game. Seton Hall fouls atleast 5 times per defensive possession. They will never win an ncaa game, because they will get called for those fouls outside of Big Easy

On the one play? Maybe, but what about the non calls when we got hammered inside all game? They were reaching in, grabbing all game and mostly uncalled.

I thought SH was just brutal, heavy fouling with only the worst being called. Sill they had 3 guys foul out. I started watching the next game, Wisconsin v. UCLA. What a difference. No touch basketball. Night and day difference. The big east teams just brutalize UConn in terms of rough fouling. They don’t even foul each other they way the foul when they play UConn. They know that fouling and playing rough is the way to get us out of our sets. Danny runs great sets, but everyone knows the key is to just be as disruptive as possible. I’m thinking it will get a lot easier for us in the NCAA tournament because no other teams play like Big East teams . . .. You saw that in 2023, when we were losing all those January games and then the tournament was a much smoother ride for us.

I couldn't watch on tv so I listened to UConn Radio, had espn Gamecast on the computer, and the boneyard chat. Down the stretch just had to close my eyes and listen to the broadcast because the espn Gamecast was so far ahead of the other 2 media. UConn Radio is a great option because they are pro UConn, and so am I! TV announcers are sometimes like tinsel, too much of a distraction

Going from Hummel to him as the color guy in consecutive games really puts the difference in full focus. What a drop-off.

I prefer Jim Jackson, Robbie Hummel, Jay Bilas, and LaPhonso Ellis to Donny Marshall.

Seton Hall is emblematic of how tough this conference is. They played out of their minds with physicality..welcome to the Big East! There is nothing to give a pass on. We were poised enough to earn a very tough win. This was one of the best conference wins this season.

That was KenPom's 10th best defense that we scored 71 on. They were 0-18 from 3 in their last game and hit 9-18 today. Sometimes luck plays into things. We were unlucky that they hit 3s today. This was also Seton Hall's chance to squarely put them on the right side of the bubble with a win so they played their hearts out.
