Seton Hall Post Game Thread

I think the staff needs to design and run some plays for Silas. Need to get him some shots. We need a better #2 PG. Malachi struggles running the offense.
I counted the number of players who touch the ball when Silas runs to offense it’s 4 or 5. When Malachi runs the offense it’s 2. He just holds a dribbles back and fourth against a team like SH moving the ball with the pass is key.

At the end of the day, we were losing by 8 down the stretch on senior night. Our most cherished senior, ALEX KARABAN, led the comeback. Thank you for everything Alex, you’ve made us proud in Storrs and Hartford. Big month coming up, go get us two more trophies!

Seton Hall shoots 30% from three. Credit to them for going 9-18. Staton McCray 32.6%, 4-8 today. Mike Williams 32.5%, 3-3. Elijah Fisher 21.6%, hit a clutch one. I’m sure they won’t shoot like that again this year

What a goofy game lol. After dog walking St John’s, needed a nail biter against Seton Hall. Doesn’t feel great. Several officiating blunders, but ended in our favor. Definitely a foul by Silas at the end. I’d also lean towards shooting foul. Oh well!

Crush Marquette, then on to MSG! Let’s go Huskies!
No that wasn't a shooting foul like Bruce Pearl just said and was consistent how they called a similar play in the first half.

Yep Smith doesn't know how to pass the ball. When he finally does Karaban makes an open 3. Hmmm! He is a Sr. so it might be too late for him to learn this.

Why don’t we pressure the inbound more? It sure works against us when our opponents do it.

Cheat code for people complaining about Donny. Most places inside Gampel he can't be heard. Probably the same people that complain about the crowd from their couch
I don't understand the Donny hate/dislike. He clearly is acting when praising opponents and is always trying not to sound partial. He wants to get promoted and be received outside of us.

Just listen to him reminiscing and you will hear is affinity. If he were to be a UConn homie then he will never get the big assignments. I just think we should support him, watch him grow and claim him when his is on National TV.

Just saying its best to ignore his praise of opponents, its cool and harmless, but benefits him.

It is possible for the human brain to both a) be happy about a win and discuss the game, and b) comment on how bad an announcer is.
I’m happy about the win. The announcers were painful to listen to. Both of them.

I don't want him to be a homer because then he wouldn't be doing his job. However, he seems like a reverse homer. If someone didn't know who he was, they would think he was pulling for Seton Hall. John Fanta, a Seton Hall grad never sounds like he is rooting for Seton Hall or any team when he calls games. I like Donny, FWIW, and he is a great ambassador for UConn, but I just don't think he is very good calling games.
Yea it seems like he doesn't want to come off as a homer and goes way to the other end where he's overcompensating. Just call the game like a regular announcer, Robbie Hummel is a Purdue grad and has called a bunch of Purdue games and I never hear that stuff with him.

Good take. I do think that he forces the UConn criticism so he looks unbiased.

What gets me is, if you let half of this board call this game, for example, you'd think they were all Syracuse alums the way we trash these guys we supposedly love. We have a right to trash Reed less than a week after we crown him king? but Donny has to be a homer?

Those plays stand out, yet when you look at the box score and even today he had 9 assists and 2 turnovers so it's not really the case at all. He needs to be more aggressive.
Yup - needs to be more proactive being active in the lane - don't stop the dribble, don't wait until you have to head down. Go after it, draw contact.

many of the human brains on this board consistently talk about this team like we are Syracuse or Wesleyan and I'm going to continue calling it out. 27-3. 1 seed.
Commentary on Donny has literally nothing to do with what you’re bringing up in this post (posters that are overly negative to this team ).

Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the other coach and team. This being a one or two possession game had very little to do with how we played today, it was all about how Seton Hall played today.
This game was Hall's season - they win that one, they very well could have been bubble in. We just came off a 32 point blowout. Was expected, but that was too close.

I changed seats on the sofa when UConn got down by 8.

Stood in front of TV for last 2 minutes.

You are welcome.
Thanks. Your new avatar and moves at the end gave us the mojo needed and saved my tv from destruction. Worst game of the season to watch until the last few minutes.

I'll give SH players and Holloway credit. They grab and clutch, but play hard and constantly attack, and do it in a manner much less irritating than the Johnnies.
They aren’t trying to hurt you when they do it. SJU does it to hurt and intimidate.

I agree. Not surprised UConn had a bit of a letdown coming off the emotional Wednesday win, and Seton Hall was well prepped after a week off. I think this bye for UConn really comes at the ideal time.

Silas can't play 35+ minutes and only take 2 shots, it's 2026 not 1966, point guard has to be aggressive and look for his own more. He's too good offensively to be handcuffing himself.
It would be great if Smith was a good back up and we could sub Silas more but it is what it is right now. Smith is looking like a miss in the Portal for sure.

Here’s a guy who talked about a gutty win and yet everyone is talking about Donny’s announcing skills. Now your last 5-6 posts have hammered people for their point of view? Hypocrisy?
