Seton Hall Post Game Thread

The most annoying thing I find with Donny is that he doesn't really think before he speaks, so he corners himself into these situations where he gives a take on something that just happened and then realizes its moronic/unfounded but then doubles down on it to save face.

Yeah! I took off my sweater (that I had put on at halftime). Then I moved the recliner back about half way and leaned on my left hand rather than folding them in front of me. I should learn to do that from the start of games.

It's because the refs allow things that OOC doesn't. It's not about the quality of teams as much as it is that mugging guys levels the playing field and neutralizes our advantages.

Clark is 40th nationally in steal % and fights arounds screens efficiently. Demery had 9 assists and 2 TOs and we scored 71 against the 10th defense on KenPom. I think Demery handled Clark as well as could be expected.

Solo's statline looks like cr@p but it was a solid game for him in the sense that he wasn't forcing terrible shots like he probably would have earlier in the season. He stuck with the plan despite his shots not falling and he earned trips to the line and hit two clutch threes. He's been a smart player these past three games.

I want Silas to shoot the ball and look for his own shot more, plain and simple. We don't have to agree on that and that's ok.

We have a national level broadcaster who's an alum and had a great career here. He's well spoken, dresses well, presents well, seems to have lived an exemplary life and represents the university extremely well. That's what people seem to want today..........image is everything you know.
I prefer him to a former coach who spoke about "our great university" and followed statements like that with grammar like "he have" or "they was". And I prefer it to our current coach liberally blurting out "sh_t" and "duckck" during post-game press conferences.
Donnie has lots of stories to relate and the network will decide if the majority of the audience likes his on air performance, so maybe we should treat him on the Boneyard the way we try to treat the players, and not publicly bash him for some quirks posters don't like.

I agree that Silas should shoot more. I just don't think it was possible in a game like this. He needed to take care of the ball and did.

His efficiency rating has tanked a bit over the last few games.

Yes Silas does. It seems like he found his balance between scoring and running the offense earlier in January and even in the loss to St. John's at MSG, but now he seems more reluctant to shoot. I noticed this in the Creighton loss too.

He played a B- game today. He still had 9 assists with only 2 turnovers and played well on defense. But 1 pt on 2 shots from the field isn't what the doctor ordered. He should shoot 7-10 shots a game.

I did like him taking Budd Clark's lunch at the 2 minute mark 😀

Ehh, SHU’s muck it up, grab and hold style is very effective on our motion offense. It’s why these games tend to be way closer than the talent level would suggest more often than not. Those teams don’t play that way (and tourney refs generally don’t allow that type of play regardless). I tend not to view these games against SHU as particularly good at projecting future performance.

That guy. I can arrange a deal for him - he can give me back 25 years of money to support this thing of his and then I'll start listening to him.

I don't know if according to the rules it should have been a foul but from my POV it was minimal contact before the shooting motion. I don't like rewarding basketball plays with no intention of actually shooting the ball. They deserved to not get that call. Take an actual shot!

Pitino/Willard/Greg Mc/Shaheen all using the same playbook to slow down our motion. Grab and go until or if the refs blow the whistle. Good news? Tournament freedom of movement in 2 wks.

This is an example of how the rule book is the problem. It should be a rule that the attempt must hit the rim or backboard. If the other team counters with a mauling or other physical play, it risks a flagrant. Simply throwing the ball towards the rim should not be considered a "shot attempt". Let's be real and respect the game. IMHO.

Take a breather every now and then. When nothing of significance is happening in the game, let the play-by-play announcer do his job.

Tom Creen on ESPN halftime didn’t think it deserved a foul either.
