That was his first mistake then. You don't get to disrespect UConn for years and then act like you're Dan Hurley's friendI'd have to go back and listen again but the way I heard it he said, "you haven't won here in the last 4". Maybe he didn't enunciate clearly, or maybe I just reinterpreted it based on my understanding of the facts. My point is, don't be so defensive. He wasn't attacking Danny. It was a friendly question. He thought he would be interviewing a coach who was in a good mood, having just won the game.
It's called the BIG EAST.
It was a terrible watch. That’s not basketball.
I see. You think the 2021-22 team was better. Why would you hope that I wasn't happy with the win? We haven't won here in 4 previous tries even with better teams than this one. I'm happy.
Lately Solo looks like a deer in headlights out on the court. He needs to put a rubber band around his head and snap out of it. I think it is partly bc he sees Braylen and Braylen is a heck of a ball player.Gutsy win on the road against a good team!
Solo 1-7 from 3-pt land tonight. He's under 30% for the season. He's never really been a good 3pt shooter. You are what you are. Danny needs to have a serious talk with him about shot selection. Cant see this continue as its killing the half-court offense.
I love this quote by Hurley: "“It’s not surprising, but what am I gonna say about it? I spray holy water all over the court, I sage my court, I throw garlic under the bleachers. I’m a f##cking cartoon character, so I don’t know how I could pass judgment on some other bizarre sh#t..."Much more to come, but this is the first piece:

UConn casts a winning spell, breaks losing streak at Seton Hall

LOL. My future son-in-law always texts me about whether to put $$$ on us. Good thing he does well on his other bets.Maybe we’ll cover one day
Well, there are also a fair chunk of people doing the whole thing where they pretend officiating played no role and everything was just poor play on our part. Most of the negativity is not about UConn, it's about the bozo BE / Refs that allow constant grabbing & holding on D so there is zero chance to create offensive. SH does what they're allowed to do by the BE, UConn just plays great basketball when they're allowed to. Great road win our guys gutted out just not a great watch.
I often join the chat, but keep on asking myself why, for the same reasons you pointed out. Most of the time we all just share our thoughts, have little time to read what others are saying then trying to scroll back to read some of it giving a thumbs up or 2 during non-action time or to see what people thought about my posts.
It's sort of pointless other than some sort of cathartic experience when watching the game alone at home. If only my Bernedoodle Toby who watches the game with me would listen and have a conversation with me about the game. We have trained him to give us a high five which results in rewarding him a treat when something good happens. Tonight was not one of those games. But I digress...
I agree with you on your take but I will say I am dumbfounded that they can erupt with an effortless 10 point spurt in a minute’s time while blowing a lead almost as quickly. What the 2023 and 2024 teams had that I haven’t seen from this one is was a dogged resistance to let the opponent back in the game.
Tell me about the game at Seton Hall during the 22-23 season.I agree with you on your take but I will say I am dumbfounded that they can erupt with an effortless 10 point spurt in a minute’s time while blowing a lead almost as quickly. All Hurley did was correct him. He was factually incorrect.
Braylon has to learn how to sell itOn defense are you allowed to lower your shoulder and smash the defender backward? That happened to Mullins on numerous occasions. I thought you were entitled to the space you occupy.
I think he had already baked in his answer for the eventuality of a loss that didn't happen. He should have just pivoted back to the answer that Seton Hall is a good team and Holloway is a good coach.Whenever Hurley is talking to reporters he’s also talking to recruits. So mentioning 4 straight losses to him isn’t going to sit well. I think he was just not happy about the question and deflected it with his response.
I think you should take your own advice, and lighten up.Paraphrasing
My success is not measured by how I do at Seton Hall, my success is measured by god

I'm sorry, lighten up, he has nothing to prove to anybody, he shouldn't have been offended by Katz last night. It was a harmless remark AND it was a great road win. I love Danny, wouldn't trade him for anybody
Trying to remember, what take did Katz have when the media was all over Hurley prior. Maybe Danny remembers something.I'd have to go back and listen again but the way I heard it he said, "you haven't won here in the last 4". Maybe he didn't enunciate clearly, or maybe I just reinterpreted it based on my understanding of the facts. My point is, don't be so defensive. He wasn't attacking Danny. It was a friendly question. He thought he would be interviewing a coach who was in a good mood, having just won the game.
I didn't feel bad for Katz per se, but I did think that part of Hurley's response was way too chip-on-his-shouldery given UConn's undisputed position at the very top of the college basketball hierarchy again. Nobody doubts Dan Hurley anymore. Dude could be coach of the Lakers or Kentucky right now if he'd wanted to, and he's already a likely hall-of-famer. It sounded like he'd been thinking about this little losing streak way too much or something (which would be on-brand for him, I suppose), and unloaded on Katz.
I would have hoped for Danny to say something like, "Well, we won here back in 2020 in front of like a thousand people with masks on, which was actually a great win for us. But yeah, this is a tough place to play, and it goes to show you the quality of the Big East when we can roll through the NCAA tournament two years in a row with 12 dominant wins, but not be able to win here," or something to that effect. That accomplishes two goals -- talk up UConn, but also talk up the Big East and Seton Hall, his alma mater.
