Seton Hall Post Game Thread

I haven’t been in the chat in 2 or 3 years. I think it’s kind of useless. I can’t watch the game and pay attention to the chat at the same time. So I just yell at the TV instead.
I often join the chat, but keep on asking myself why, for the same reasons you pointed out. Most of the time we all just share our thoughts, have little time to read what others are saying then trying to scroll back to read some of it giving a thumbs up or 2 during non-action time or to see what people thought about my posts.

It's sort of pointless other than some sort of cathartic experience when watching the game alone at home. If only my Bernedoodle Toby who watches the game with me would listen and have a conversation with me about the game. We have trained him to give us a high five which results in rewarding him a treat when something good happens. Tonight was not one of those games. But I digress...

Fair, bad was probably not appropriate. Stewart played good D, but looked a bit lost offensively today. The broader point being he and/or Ross need to show more consistent offensive production before Hurley can possibly think about heavily cutting into Solo’s minutes.
Agreed. Count me as a Solo supporter. I do think he should be a little more selective with his 3 point attempts until he starts seeing them go in again.

He is a lefty which is the one hand that was hurt. Fact he used his right hand for the dunk may be evidence that the left is indeed still suffering.
I was wondering how long it would take for someone to point out that he's a lefty. Are there some here that hadn't figured that out?

I agree with you on your take but I will say I am dumbfounded that they can erupt with an effortless 10 point spurt in a minute’s time while blowing a lead almost as quickly. What the 2023 and 2024 teams had that I haven’t seen from this one is was a dogged resistance to let the opponent back in the game.
The 23 team completely forgot how to play basketball for the entire month of January.

I have the St Mary's game on in the background and just happened to notice a player do a fake, one dribble step to the right and knock down a three.

My point is Solo needs to figure out how to convert a few under control threes within the flow of the game instead of throwing up so many high degree difficult ones. Granted he has been struggling missing some of the easy ones as well, but I don't know what it will take for him to regain his stroke and confidence.

.-.
Dan had a very crappy post game interview with Andy Katz, Andy didn’t deserve that arrogant comeback on what seemed like a good question. Please stop with “…. 4 games against SH doesn’t define my legacy…” Bull crap. Was disappointed in that, felt bad for Katz!
Whenever Hurley is talking to reporters he’s also talking to recruits. So mentioning 4 straight losses to him isn’t going to sit well. I think he was just not happy about the question and deflected it with his response.

Except that isn’t was Andy Katz said. Andy Katz was factually incorrect
I'd have to go back and listen again but the way I heard it he said, "you haven't won here in the last 4". Maybe he didn't enunciate clearly, or maybe I just reinterpreted it based on my understanding of the facts. My point is, don't be so defensive. He wasn't attacking Danny. It was a friendly question. He thought he would be interviewing a coach who was in a good mood, having just won the game.

They say shooters need to keep shooting. That's what Mullins does. But at some point you need to be more selective.

Free throws and inbounding the ball. That’s about it for complaints. Team fouls too much, which led to an absolute slog in the second half.

They could use more of Demary driving late in the clock. He remains the best and only one off the dribble. Love the offense, but officials in big east allow too much grabbing off ball. Hard to get open.

I don’t know, a road win over a ranked team in a place we haven’t won in years doesn’t feel like a loss to me. But YMMV.
Geez, it was somewhat a tongue in cheek joke! With that said, you can't tell me that you enjoyed much of the last 10 minutes of that game, sans the clutch Demary FTs and the Mullins' block! If you do, you're flat out lying! Between the officiating that allowed SH to mug our guys all over the court, and the way the team played, it was a tough watch.

He had a nice look at a 3 early in second half and noticeably hesitated, then took the shot . Jerky jerky and missed. He Stewart and Ross need to be more sure of them selves. Relax and win!

Sorry, we can be down on Solo for his poor play and still be "real fans". He has played horribly the last few games, pure and simple: limited offense and severely lacking defense. We can only hope that he snaps out of it and addresses and proves his issues.
We all criticize players. But this goes beyond. To say a guy is unplayable or shouldn't play is just absurd. Don't play Tristen Newton, don't play Andre Jackson, don't play Alex Karaban, now don't play Solo Ball. This stuff is getting old. And no, it's not being a real fan. So says I.

Can we agree to disagree?

WHAT.A.GAME! MULLINS.BLOCK.IS.HUGE!

P.S. I don't know if my heart can take it any more....
I had to cheat and check the score. Couldn’t watch until 11, and when the lead went from 18 to 13, I needed to make sure my bp would be ok.

Craziest holding I've seen in my life.

I saw so many blue uniforms 1-2 feet behind our players with a Pirate hand attached. Refs should be fired for the 1,261 times they missed what everyone could see.
I was yelling at the tv about all the pushing off SH was doing. It was so blatant

I hate this conference. Seton Hall conservatively committed 70 fouls in that game, so given that, good win. What a clown show.

With legitimate refs we win that game by 25. Our offense was restricted by holds all game so we had no choice but to go to Reed. And they hacked him at will.
The officiating was poor and inconsistent. If you're going to call a lot of fouls how do you (for example) NOT call a foul on Silas's three point attempt with 8:07 left where he was very obviously fouled?? There were a few other non-calls that were costly for the Huskies as well.

.

It was a terrible watch. That’s not basketball.
It’s better than watching 2 tanking NBA teams trying to lose to each other and that is like 1/3 of nba regular season games. There is no doubt this was 2 teams fighting to win. I would rather watch that than the Harlem globtrotters, and the nba has become half competitive half Harlem globetrotters

We win by 20 on any neutral site. Proud of the way they battled through some real tough adversity. Only going to make them better in the long haul. The criticism of Ball on here I don’t like much. He is and will continue to be very important for us. The emphasis has shifted a bit with Mullins getting more touches on offense and Ball getting fewer. We are lucky we have a coach who understands how important it was to get a better player going. Stewart yes and Ross not so much in games like this. Demary really is a quality pint guard.

I didn't feel bad for Katz per se, but I did think that part of Hurley's response was way too chip-on-his-shouldery given UConn's undisputed position at the very top of the college basketball hierarchy again. Nobody doubts Dan Hurley anymore. Dude could be coach of the Lakers or Kentucky right now if he'd wanted to, and he's already a likely hall-of-famer. It sounded like he'd been thinking about this little losing streak way too much or something (which would be on-brand for him, I suppose), and unloaded on Katz.

I would have hoped for Danny to say something like, "Well, we won here back in 2020 in front of like a thousand people with masks on, which was actually a great win for us. But yeah, this is a tough place to play, and it goes to show you the quality of the Big East when we can roll through the NCAA tournament two years in a row with 12 dominant wins, but not be able to win here," or something to that effect. That accomplishes two goals -- talk up UConn, but also talk up the Big East and Seton Hall, his alma mater.

two big questions, can they run any kind of offense if the other team is allowed to hold and grab. solo's defense can be exploited when it's been a few games of this and it's on scouting reports now. every team is going to attack him.

Someone posted advanced stats recently and Stewart’s usage rate is basically nothing. I’m assuming Ross is similar. They just aren’t part of the offensive plans.
