Serah Williams Commits to UConn

If Caroline is healthy, and Blanca is what people say she is that’s at least 8 to 10 each. With better rebounding more shot opportunities – 6 to 10 Jana 4 to 8 ice 2 to 6 Morgan 6 to 10. If Connecticut can become a dominant rebounding team 90+ points. A game is not unrealistic with the fire power they have. Add in a more mature KK and slap another 6 to 10 on top of that and who knows what Ali will give us as well as Fisher and Patterson. I believe the points will pile up as soon as this team gels and has a true leader and just who that is still up in the air, I believe. Maybe the two seniors step up
Next year we will have 3 Seniors. Azzi, Caroline and Serah

Not a chance that Serah (Serah Williams) and Jana are both starting or even regularly playing together unless it's against an opponent who has a very tall frontcourt.

As for the concern over PG duties, keep in mind that Sarah (SS) is more than capable of playing point forward. You just need a few sure handed guards to get the ball over midcourt against a press. With the loss of Paige and Kaitlyn, and the addition of Serah (Serah Williams), THIS is now the biggest "need" (if there is one).

When Bueckers and Fudd played together in the U17's Fudd was the point and Bueckers was the 2. When she arrived in Storrs Geno said that she was fully capable of playing pg. UConn did pretty well last season with their best scorer playing the point.

just watched the wisc games against Usc(20&7) and osu(20 &17) as I was interested in watching her against top competition
without getting into an evaluation of S W game
a few observations
- this is a very very good basketball player who is fundamentally sound on both ends
-Rebounds exceptionally well
-plays hard all the time
Play pretty much exclusively in the post for Wisconsin
-seem to have the athleticism and skills to play away from the basket
-Her overall game is significantly better than the current post players at Uconn especially on the offensive end
wisc without her, would have been a middle of the road Big East team
appears this is a perfect fit
Thanks for sharing this. One of ways Serah will benefit from playing for UConn is that she will have an opportunity to play away from the basket as well as in the post, which will boost her draft stock. In fact, Geno will insist on it. And if Serah's high post and perimeter skills are undeveloped, CD and Jamelle will rectify that by tournament time.

I think you need Azzi to step up and take over the Paige points and shot hunting and then Sarah adds a little more and then you need the Serah, Ash, and KK to hit the open shots they will get when everyone is focused on Azzi and Sarah. Azzi was a shot hunter in highschool and would put up 30 on any given night. I think her leadership goal has to be to get back to that after the injuries in preparation for the pros. This is her opportunity to grow with Paige moving on.

If by "shot-hunting" you mean finding her open teammates (and herself) for high % shots, then you hit the nail right on the head.

I would expect 14-16 points per game from Serrah, 20-23 points per game from Sarah, 18 - 22 points per game from Azzi, 10 - 12 points per game from Blanca, 10 - 12 points per game from KK, 10 - 12 points per game from Shade, and 6 - 8 points per game from Jana.......hard to predict the rest of the scoring since we don't know who's getting minutes.......as long as there are no serious injuries to Sarah, Serah, Azzi and KK, UConn will be just fine from a scoring standpoint.....
These per player breakdown predictions rarely prove realistic. Those ranges add up to 88-105 points per game.

That's true but assuming that Sarah will average a bit more than twenty points a game, Azzi will score around twenty points a game and Serah will average fifteen points a game is not really a stretch is it? Now add ten points each for KK and Ash and look where you are already.......

Ok this is really a 5th grade math problem. UConn averaged 62.8 shots per game to equal 81.7 points per game. We would need to take 76.92 shots per game and still shoot it at our phenomenal .509 and .388 shooting percentage.

The simple fact is this WILL NOT HAPPEN.

i noted early in the season that only 3 times in the last 15 years have teams averaged above 90. Even mighty Tennessee and i’s frenetic play won’t come close.

in the games I watched she was comfortable at the high post and not reluctant to shoot the foul line jumper She is pretty close to the finished product.

Yes it’s a stretch to say the very least.

People would be wise to consider what became of the bombastic predictions of 90 or even 100 ppg before last season.

I believe they averaged around 82 points per game last year.......

I don't have time to scroll through 6 pages so here's a video about Serah's commitment that I saw that might be of interest if it hasn't already been posted:
I forgive you. Know exactly what you mean. Twice, even 3 times is good.

I had imagined that Blanca had more of a guard's body -- like Juju. And that Ice would still be "bigger" if not taller. Is that not the case?
I had Blanca as a guard also. I was trying to show a lineup that Geno could use if he wanted to go really big.

Finally, another realist. Yes, we will be better up front (maybe now 20 ppg), and Sarah will get her 15 - 18 ppg, but outside Azzi (I'll give her 15-18 ppg, because she is going to be doubled every game), where do we get the other 20 -25 ppg we lost with Paige leaving?
Blanca, Morgan, Caroline, Shade, Jana, Ice, and Allie. There is no shortage of players who will supply the points. However, for some of the posters who are predicting an undefeated season or another NC, just remember SC, UCLA, and LSU are feeling the same way about their team. I think like ERWUC65: Nothing is given.

Here's another perspective - players come to UConn for different reasons, however if you want to win a natty, want to play in the W, UConn is a great training ground. And even if it doesn't work out in the W, look at all the alumni that are having success either on air, or with W & NBA teams. Imaging going through a season where players aren't playing more than 20-25 mins per game, there's less wear and tear, and Geno can implement a UConn style of what TN is doing, but with his typical sets and play calling? That's why Heckel might choose UConn. I'm betting that everyone knows exactly what to expect with playing time - you earn it.
I would think that if a player earns playing time by how they play in practice, certainly she would earn it by how she plays in games and KK and Shade have surely earned their playing time. Some of you want to hand the point guard spot to Heckel.
