Saturday's conference-tournament bonanza

I'm watching the Oregon State-UCLA game, but I just noticed online that South Florida trails SMU by 5 after 3Q. A loss could be disastrous for USF.

Looks like USF is gonna pull out a close one....

Meanwhile West Virginia is thumping Oklahoma in the Big12 Quarterfinals 36-13

Creme thought OU may make a bid for top 16 but no way if they lose this one. WVU may come off the bubble with a win!

Whew. USF dodged another bullet. 62-55 with the win.

That'll probably be good enough for USF, although you never know. The committee could pull out the Maryland hammer on them for a low SOS and only one quality win.

When these teams played in Norman in February, WVU built a huge lead in the first half only to see OU come back in the 2nd half and win in 2OT. We'll see if they can hang on this time. A win will put them in the tournament without a doubt.

UCLA up by 3 at the half.
Canada is dominating with 17 points. She really took over after Gabby Hanson went to the bench early in 2Q with her second foul.
Both teams are cold from the outside. Wiese had a few buckets early but the UCLA defense is smothering her right now.

WVU played a giant game at Baylor back in January. You do not want them as a 8/9 seed.

48-24 WVU on top of Sooners at half. Let's see if they. n hold on.

Meanwhile this UCLA/OU game is getting better in second half.

This UCLA-OSU game took an ugly turn in 3Q when both teams endured a long scoring drought.
Then OSU started finding the basket and pushed ahead by 8, with buckets from Hanson and Gulich.
It's a scratchy clawy kind of game. Not unusual for a 3rd game between teams.

Canada, as fit as she is, just got so winded on that last possession that she lost Wiese on a 3. I believe that's Wiese's first bucket since 1Q.

Oregon State is gonna win. They can ugly up a game but it's effective. They will play for PAC-12 title.

Looks like WVU is gonna get the Sooners. Lead 67-33 with a few seconds left in 3rd.

Only watched the tail end of this one. Pivec has been huge in the conference tourney so far, giving a consistent 2nd scorer for OSU. 17 pts 8 reb. yesterday and 14 and 8 tonight (she's a heck of a rebounder for a guard).

OSU does play ugly, but they can shut teams down w/ their D.

As I said last weekend in their Stanford game, they have perfected the art of winning ugly. Emphasis on winning.

And she is the highest rated recruit to ever come to Oregon State. Didn't know that!

Canada got some window dressing at the end, but she basically got shut down in the 2nd half.
