when calhoun hits a clutch shot in the tourney everyone will love him again.

sick of the anti calhoun and boatright threads
many us of get slammed on here for being negative, so i applaud your optimism.....but do you really think that will happen?

i do agree, like most of us, that these threads need to end.

Why is everyone coddling Omar? As a fan I'm rooting for him but he is beyond awful this year.

I like Omar, I really do and I hope he comes out of his funk. But I keep on reading people say that he's a good shooter. He was 40 and 32 last year. That's far from "good" in my book especially considering his shot mechanics are a disaster. I know he was lauded as a shooter in high school. But so were Roscoe Smith and Jerome Dyson.

People usually get better with experience. As a freshman, the game feels fast and you rush things. Shooting 40 and 32 in your first year isn't a red flag, as long as you show flashes. Shabazz shot 37 and 32 as a freshman - you didn't think he showed flashes of becoming a better player than that?. Ray stepped in right away and was great, but had a veteran team around him and could make the easy plays. Ben shot good percentages for the same reason, as did Kemba, who slipped to 40 and 33 as a soph when he had to do more. Rip shot 38 percent as a freshman, AJ Price (albeit rusty and not looking healthy) 38. It's a long list. Hell, I picked a guy at random and looked up Jimmer - 40 and 33 as a freshman.

I thought Omar would be a lot better this year since he made a lot of freshman mistakes forcing contested shots last year that he could get away with in HS and hopefully learned where his windows were to shoot at this level. That was before I knew he needed surgery, then I figured we would have to wait and see. Some guys step in and don't miss a beat after a long absence, and some guys struggle to get their rhythm back. Obviously, Omar is in the latter category.

Omar is now into epic slumpiness and probably needs a clean slate. Hopefully, that means here in October and not somewhere else. I'm not sure he has one of those days in him right now where he makes four in a row and looks to the heavens as if to say "where has this been". But the team is clearly behind him - they all wanted those shots to fall for him yesterday as badly as he did.

I watched Omar closely last night. Even during warm ups his shots wouldn't fall. They would rattle around and then pop out. Its like there is a lid on the hoop. Never seen anything quite like it. I hope he snaps out of it next season, but I am afraid this season is lost for Omar.

As many I have been hoping for him to come out of this funk, but time is really running out for him this season, as Huskybass said. I don't think Ollie will use him much in the tournament. I can see Samuel playing more minutes, though.

Omar is 0-11 in his last 11 shots, and most have been open looks. The percentages usually even out. Be nice to see that happen in the NCAA.

I really feel bad for the kid. He was really a solid contributor last year but has just been completely out of sync since the injury. I was really on the edge of my seat every time he took a shot last night hoping one would go down for him, and not even for the points, just because the kid deserves/needs a break. Watch him light it up in the big dance if he is able to get any PT... How funny would that be?

At this point of the season he is what he is a iffy shooter who gives you little to nothing else. I rather see his minutes go to TS who does a little of everything and gives us energy off the bench. I don't wish bad on OC but I just don't see anything in his game to indicate an improvement. I know he couldn't work on his handle due to the injuries but it really hampers his games at times as he just can't blow by his man for easy hoops when his outside shot isn't falling. He is so one dimensional right now it hurts to see.

Get over yourself, holmes. It's a message board. No one's "coddling" anyone. We're not their mentors, and we're not their coaches (well, except Chief). Some people just don't see the point of a daily thread pointing out that a kid who everyone knows is struggling is struggling.

These threads are dumb, but Omar can't play anymore this season.

I repeat it's not a personal attack or anything personal to say a guy just is playing awful.

He wasn't awful last night. He was a non-factor offensively. We've said that about better players than him quite a bit this year. He missed a couple good looks. That's it. He's gotta keep taking them and at some point they'll fall. It's not like he's gunning outside the flow of the offense.

I don't see daily threads about Omar, just one every once in awhile after some games. If this is truly a message board, people should be able to express their good and bad opinions. As a fan if a player is struggling I should reserve the right to point it out when I choose.

They were clearly looking to kick it out to him, he was wide open and got great looks.

there may be a reason he's wide open and getting great looks

I'm thinking those same plays don't get the same looks for Bazz or Boat or DD or NG

and I also know why KO is running them, so don't nobody be going there either

maybe Omar needs a kick in the mouth, maybe group hugs ain't working for him. maybe he needs to phone home

I know one thing, we all want him to "snap out of it"

Omar's play is NOT awful. His shooting is awful. Big difference. He gets rebounds. He gives us another big defender. If he hit one of his two threes against Rutgers, both of which got part of the way down, it would look like he's coming around.

4.5 and 1.3 boards Is not awful to you in 15 minuets? Aight then

He got the same wide open looks as NG in the game. They weren't always playing the perimeter tightly.

The mods move the cuse threads when we bash them. Can they delete these threads please
I merged the three Cuse threads into one because Cuse isn't relevant enough to merit three threads. They're really not relevant for one thread imo. This thread allows people enough rope to hang themselves.

There's nothing more annoying than merging threads - don't do it.

The best way to moderate is not to moderate.
