The son of long time NBA'er Sam Cassell, the 6-foot-3 floor general learned a lot of tricks from his father. Cassell is a very crafty scorer who uses changes of pace and awkward release angles to keep defenders on their heels. He handles well, understands how to read a ball screen and has some physical toughness. A three-star prospect who will receive heavy consideration for four-star status during his freshman season of junior college, Cassell will arrive at UConn with three seasons of eligibility because he redshirted his first year at Chipola.
Now, someone make sure this girl parties with Devin Robinson next weekend!
You can do worse as a PG prospect than learning from Sam Cassell and Kevin Ollie for the first 22 years of your life. I know the kid will be playing his first year of college ball next season, but I almost expect him to play like a veteran right away. He's been learning from the best his entire life, and he's already two years removed from high school.
Also, it can't be a bad thing for UConn exposure wise to have a recognized NBA star in the stands for all your games. Think of how much publicity Michigan garnered last season from the camera flashing to Tim Hardaway every other possession. It can only help recruiting to have a respected NBA player like that connected to the program.
Unfortunately the NCAA season coincides with the NBA season, and Sr. is an assistant coach.

Congrats... you've succeeded in making the most irrelevant post on the Boneyard today... trust me that's not an easy accomplishmenthttp://zagsblog.com/articles/sam-cassell-jr-to-uconn/
"The 6-foot-3 Cassell Jr., the son of the former NBA guard and current Washington Wizards assistant, had cut his list to Louisville and UConn, but Louisville pulled out of recruiting him. Cassell Jr. also previously considered Marquette and Missouri."
Does not look like he choose UCONN over Louisville!!!
Awesome news. Hats off to KO, Ricky Williams, and rest of staff in their recent recruiting successes. Hope it spawns more success. Sam's dad was smart, hustled all the time and made Florida State a much better team than they were on paper. Based his video, he'll should build on that family tradition.

Think of PG combos who pass AND score. Especially with 3 guards on the floor.
Bazz and Boatright.
Kemba and Bazz.
Kemba and Dyson.
AJ Price and Dyson.
Khalid and Ricky Moore.
The only guard combo I remember as being absolutely set as "distributor" and "scorer" were Taliek and Ben Gordon.
