Safe to Say 1 Player is Returning

He is 23 already. Sitting out another year wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for him.

I don't think age matters as much for a guy like that. He's not remotely on any draft radars, nor likely will be. So he's got to be as good as possible before he tries to find a home professionally somewhere. In order to get a shot anywhere, you've gotta bring something to the table.

Thought this was a given but now official -- much prefer this to him grad transferring and having to watch him tear it up somewhere else. Wish him the best of luck.

I really think we're going to see Larrier get his leg strength and athleticism back and find his way to the league. The G-League has prepared our guys (DHam and Purv) for the NBA better than KO has. I think the same will happen with Larrier.

Completely disagree. Helping kids to improve their understanding of the game and their read and reacts is a huge part of coaching. Probably the most fundamental part of coaching.

Agree to disagree. The natural aspects of the game come to those well before they step on to the court at 18-20 years old. If you don't have them by then there's only so many things you can be taught. read and reacts a a natural ability, some can be taught I am sure, but very few. if you don't think they were teaching brimah for 4 years you are wrong, and Facey for that matter. As I've said all along recruit smarter kids because it's hard for those with low basketball IQ's the learn the most important details of the game on both ends. Not saying it can't happen or they don't teach anyway, but you need some of that before you get on campus. So for that reason alone Diarra scares me, hoping I'm wrong because he has ability.

where do you guys stand on none of our bigs being able to legally set screens all season?

it was clear form Ollie's reaction at times that this had been communicated.

I'm starting to really buy into the rumors that coaching staff vastly outworked the players.

This is very good news. Opportunity for CV to go down a legend and his loyalty will be rewarded by the fans.

I get no one would choose to be boat over Kemba in our pantheon, but I think that’s a pretty ideal scenario for him...stick with a beaten down program then win a chip as a bulldog, big shot making 2nd banana.

I won't be surprised at all if he gets his cup of coffee in the League. No idea what his upside is, but he'll get a chance. 6'8 guys who can shoot aren't a dime a dozen.

"KO is one of the best coaches, and I'm not saying that just because he coached me," said Napier, recruited to UConn by Jim Calhoun. "A lot of stuff he instills in you in college you face in the NBA. Every kid in college wants to play in the NBA.

When players go 1-on-1 a lot, some call it hero ball. When you think about it, who was a bigger hero than Napier in 2014?

"In college, defenders can sit in the paint and clog the area. I think that's the biggest problem," Napier said. "You can't do that in the NBA [with defensive 3 seconds]. You've got guards on UConn that can get by people, but then they have to worry about a secondary defender. That's what hurts a lot of college players. It hurt me. That window is so small. It's their job to figure out how to maneuver around them. I had to figure it out. That's on the player in a lot of ways, not really on the coach. They teach you. At the end of the day, they put you on a stage and it's time to perform.

This is one reason JA could do alright at the next level. He can beat anybody and score in college. Usually two guys given we have nobody else.

LOL. What rumors - from KO's mom?

he needs a jumpshot and players around him that can score to show that he run an offense

Either way it's on KO. If he couldn't get the players to work hard at practice that's on him. If he wasn't working hard that's on him.

I believe KO knows basketball but he seemed incapable of getting his players to understand what he was teaching. That and his bizarre substitution patterns led to a very disappointing season.

Hopefully it was in the sense if you think youre gonna be tough? Wait til you see what i come back like.

Isaiah said: @snipercv *We gonna be tough!!

KW replied: Yall gonna be tough
Wouldn't read too much into it. CV corrected Whaley by saying *We gonna be tough. I read it as KW just trying to be funny/ give CV a hard time by saying "Y'all"

One player says we. Kwintin says Ya'll. Kwintin quoting fired head coach. Gives a weird vibe.
I agree, although I took it as KW just giving CV a hard time because he corrected IW. Idk lol

Maybe, just maybe, if right after one of those moving picks was called, KO called timeout and lit player up with an immediate hook and trip to the bench, players would try harder to do better.
Not a given that a public reaming would work, but we do know whatever strategies we're used by Ollie to change their on court actions failed.

"Yall gonna be tough" from Kwintin then some sideways smirks from Whaley?

Once you become a parent do all forms of social media begin to baffle you? I couldnt decipher any of that IG thread.

Thats not saying hes going to leave. Its vernacular. Him saying yall is just saying "you are going to be tough."

Relax, yall

Sometimes you see managers that are overworked and their staff is under-performing. They may be good workers but they are bad managers.

I meant more in regards to basketball IQ, but you’re not wrong here.
