Completely disagree. Helping kids to improve their understanding of the game and their read and reacts is a huge part of coaching. Probably the most fundamental part of coaching.

Very hard to coach, but very important. And to mau's credit, some kids DO have trouble ever picking it up, regardless of coaching. But a coaches job is to help maximize this IQ. I think jay wright may be the best. That read and react type motion of his is beautiful. He coaches offensive "concepts" like a savant

Yeah I don't think he's a great X's and O's guy by any means but his teams play very hard and they win games
And I'm really good with that.

And let's be real, no way we get a guy with everything. They're out there, but are usually in or headed for the HOF.

You hire bench guys to cover your weaknesses. Your head guy has to be a great manager above all else.

Absolutely. Glenn Miller didn’t have that head guy thing going for him but he implemented that free throw drill that had us shooting lights in in the post season 2014. Hurley can find His x and o guy. No doubt about it.

"Yall gonna be tough" from Kwintin then some sideways smirks from Whaley?

Once you become a parent do all forms of social media begin to baffle you? I couldnt decipher any of that IG thread.

Questionable comment from Kwintin.

Good point. For a current tally:

SEMI-CONFIRMED BACK: Vital, Whaley, Cobb, Wilson

LIKELY BACK: Gilbert (assuming he doesn't want to sit out another year)

UNKNOWN: Adams, Carlton, Polley, Matthews Jr., Kisunas, Diarra

LIKELY OUT: Kwintin (based on IG comment)

OUT: Akinjo

Of the unknown, we most need Adams, Matthews, Kisunas, and Diarra. With that next year’s foundation is: Gilbert, Adams, Vital, Wilson, Matthews, Whaley, Diarra, Cobb, and Kisunas. Starting lineup of JA, CV, Sid, Diarra, and Cobb. Gilbert, Matthews, Whaley, and Kisunas off the bench. WITH A GOOD COACH, that is enough talent to make the tournament.

Ikd if Hurley's the guy, but one thing I do like about him, from stories that I've read, is that he is willing to change and grow as a HC. Tom Moore apparently taught him a few things he put into practice this year. That's an important quality.

I would like KW back just to see what he could do, but given where he is developmentally, he could probably use that extra red shirt year. Not necessarily a bad choice for him to move on in that respect.

That's still a very young and raw team right there. Something to work with, but outside of JA and CV, there's a lot of question marks.

For the record, that's a thinking emoji. Not smirk. Probably saying, "really bro?"

Thought this was a given but now official -- much prefer this to him grad transferring and having to watch him tear it up somewhere else. Wish him the best of luck.

For the record, I am also giving up my remaining 4 yrs of eligibility and declaring for the NBA Draft. I am also excited to begin this next chapter of my basketball career...

There's a spectrum. Some kids are hopeless, the best coach in the world won't reach them. Some kids have great instincts and don't need much help. Some kids have room for growth and improve their IQ over time.

Take a hard stand for &@$# sake! Are you Left? Or are you Right?

Be a man, pick a side, and defend it against all facts. This “thinking man’s” line of reasoning crap approach of yours is uncalled for.

He is 23 already. Sitting out another year wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for him.

Starting 5 of Jalen, CV, Sid Wilson, Mamadou & Carlton with Alterique off the bench and a legitimate coach at the helm is a tournament team.

I believe that. With some development, of course, and maybe we add a piece or two that contributes, that’s not a bad core.
