These are all fantastic developments and have me far more optimistic for our near future. Who knows what Jalen does but he and Gilbert seem less likely to bolt unless either somehow can play immediately. The more guys make it clear they're here to stay the more likely all the others are to remain, including the incoming class, and even Akinjo. I don't blame the young man for opening his recruitment and being up front about it, but I truly think if our team is the same team he expected to play for with a somewhat competent coach, he'll consider staying with UConn.

Not a bad Sunday

Cobb has talent there is no question. He needs a discliplined coach to put him in a low post role and keep him there. No bringing ball up court. Get in low post and use passing skills and shooting ability to get efficient, high percentage shots. He is not a shot creator like he fancies himself.

Don't underestimate Williams & Diarra... Increase their bball iq with a competent coaching staff, these two have the ability to make great strides next year. The cupboard is not bare, with the proper coaching hire, we have the horses to hold our own in the AAC next year. And that's not wishful thinking, we just needed a new mindset/direction and that started yesterday morning

Similar to last year, seems like the players self-touting instagram posts are giving us all a false sense of reality.

However, I do hope our next coach gets every player to play as hard as CV.

And gets CV to not play like a chicken with its head removed. Intense player, who does not channel it wisely. He needs to play much smarter.

I think Diarra is a potential stud PF. Carlton looks like he will be a nice center. There is a decent core of players here.

Good.

I’m not as high on Vital as some on here, but I think he can be a really important four-year player for this program.

If Gilbert can manage to stay healthy (not counting on it, but hoping), this could turn into one heck of a backcourt.
I really feel he'll be a damn good Senior and one of our best (Senior).

Other than Adams, CV, Wilson and Gilbert and include Polley in this group, everyone else on our roster is expendable.

A good core with a good coach and some new players will do wonders for us.

I expect the new coach to have us competing for the NCAA tournament next year. We need a great recruiter that is for sure.

I would add Mamadou in that group. Under a good coach, he’s still young and raw enough to become a staple down low.

Add Cobb to this list as well. I won't link/screenshot what he said on Twitter because he has a private account.
He said "Husky for life" with many husky emojis following.
He favorited two replies- "Big things coming" and "Stick with the UConn family...the next coach will get you on the court"

Awesome I kinda like Cobb. I would certainly like to see him play under a coach who didn’t sit him for a guy who just ran around aimlessly as if the building was on fire

Agreed. I think he brings an edge, and has a semi-ability to handle the ball at his size. He can be a huge factor with the right coaching on a good team.
I like the big men we have, but they badly need someone who teaches them how to defend with their feet and chest and box out.

It's #sad when kids are practically begging for leadership and to be coached.
I know it's only 24 hours but interesting that everyone who is in tje program is staying and only "loss" is a recruit who hasn't ever been coached by KO and his staff.

Starting 5 of Jalen, CV, Sid Wilson, Mamadou & Carlton with Alterique off the bench and a legitimate coach at the helm is a tournament team.
This is a team, with a good coach, that causes me to enter all the UConn games into the calendar when the schedule is released. Haven't done that since 2015.

And the team building has a little momentum.

Adams (based on prior comments), Wilson, Vital, Cobb, Gilbert. Now give me the three true frosh and Diarra, Matthews and Kisunas, and go get a 1 more solid combo guard that can shoot in the spring to fill things out, or convince Akinjo to stay, and that’s clay you can mold.

You really do want to give the new coach some flexibility to add some players of his choosing, and with more coaching changes to come, players will be available.
That being said, I never bought into the mass exodus mantra from the current roster.

It's only been 24 hours for these kids. I'm sure there's a bit of shell shock. Different for them than us.

As a senior, Jalen can pretty much go wherever he wants for his senior year after a coaching change right? Scary
