Amateur sports should remain amateur. Say no to amateur basketball mercenaries. There is no missed opportunity regarding this issue because it is a not an issue.

You misunderstand the very essence of life itself. These are kids in college who choose to use college as a platform to make money in the future. They receive hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of payments in full scholarships, food, trainers, coaching, facility access, VIP treatment, etc. They the vast majority of D1 athletes get quite the deal and bargain from universities.

They are free to go the G-League route or international professional route if they do not wish to accept the deal that is college. They do not have to go to college if it is such a bad deal for them. If they want to be workers so badly go to work, outside of school.

If you think student athletes are getting a bad deal, what kind of deal are regular Joe college student receiving.

PS: College athletes would do well to practice gratitude for the opportunities they receive and the platform they get from college athletics in the states.

Amateur sports do not generate billions of dollars, sign $300 million TV contracts, pay coaches upwards of $8-9 million per year, and buyout coaches to go away from their program for $10-20 million.

You are right. The athletes are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of payments in full scholarships and the perks that come with it. But the athletes are receiving these so called payments in exchange for their services. The NCAA has a misguided, twisted way of defining what an amateur really is in regards to the sports they govern. In no way does the NCAA's definition of amateurism apply to the world we live in.

So you are saying the players should know their place? Screw that. Your post was nonsense from the first word. It's not amateur sports when everyone is getting paid but the players. Go watch Little League.
 
I hope we get Locke but man, this transfer rule is literally ridiculous. Did the NCAA not foresee this happening?

They should’ve just extended the sit one rule to coaches.
 
Not worth a new thread, but does anyone know what we can expect from Richie Springs this year? He's had 2 years to learn the system. Is he just a 4/5 guy? Can he shoot 3's and stretch the defense out like Akok can?

Locke’s played a ton of minutes for Florida the past 3 seasons but doesn’t seem to do much other than outside shooting (which obviously is something we desperately need). Just feels like a 15-20 minute type of guy and not a guy who would (or should) get the 30 minutes a game he was getting at UF. Anyone know how he is defensively?

It's really hard to tell with how little he's played but I think he can stretch the floor a little bit, but in more of a Whaley 15 footer range than to the 3 point line. Hopefully he can knock down some 3's though because we need the spacing desperately
 
I watched every Florida game....He is a very good 3 point shooter if he can set his feet. He is not someone who creates his own shot.
As for his defense it is nothing special. He does not have great lateral quickness so he struggles with more athletic players.

We simply need shooters. Otherwise, we're going to get zoned non-stop.
