Rayshaun Hammonds offer

If we are indeed out of the Bamba sweepstakes, we should have enough scholarships for both of them. Also, I'm a little fuzzy on this, but isn't Polley more of a combo forward whereas Hammonds is more of a 4? I could definitely be wrong though.
We'd have enough spots for them both, but if I was Polley I'd certainly reconsider my commitment if we land Hammonds. Not that I want him to -- I love what I've seen of his game, and his enthusiasm for the program -- but they're very similar players.

KO sees the way the NBA is going and is trying to mimic that here. I think you could definitely play 2 shooting combo forwards side by side. Theoretically have Durham at center, that's a dangerous shooting lineup.

With Ham this is a top 5 recruiting class....when all is said and done.
Probably in the 5-15 range when all said and done. Bamba would push us into top 5. Really wanted to get Bamba or Richards but I'll remain optimistic because I think junior Enoch will be an animal for us at the 5.

I would bet where are out with both

Will be interesting to see what happens, especially with the early signing period starting next Wednesday.

I would think there's definitely enough minutes at the 3 and 4 for Polley, Hammonds, and Vance Jackson once Larrier leaves, but enough guys where I wouldn't be shocked if he at least considered opening up his recruitment

Carlton is 189 on 247, is this another Rock Lubin? Polley is barley top 100. MAL and Ham would be the only top 50 guys, can't imagine that's remotely enough for a top 5 class.

You should check out Lubin's 247 ranking before making that comparison.

Carlton, Polley, Hammonds, MAL, and Hami would give UConn the #2 class behind Arizona right now based on 247's class calculator.

Hamidou Diallo is the #1 shooting guard and #10 overall, Makai Ashton-Langford #9 point guard #33 overall, Rayshaun Hammonds #12 power forward #50 overall.

You must be a blast to go out with. "hey JSM this is a great place isn't it"....

JSM - "Nah it sucks worst place we could have picked and you guys are d**bags too not sure why I even went out with you, where we going next by the way?"

Without getting into commentary about rankings, etc., I'll just say that I'll be happier with things if (when) we get Hammonds.

At some point, in the front court, you need fewer projects and more sure things. The two front court kids we already have are better than projects, but they're not plug and play yet.

But by the end of things this spring, this will be a stellar class.

After the AB experiment, I think KO is looking for a front line that can score, not only from underneath but from 15 feet
If a kid backs out because he doesn't want the comp - maybe you don't want him
HD is vital BUT KO needs a backup plan
I like the young guys UConn has now but there's always the future and who knows what shakes out in 365 days

With Bamba and Hamidou commitments, it would be. 2 top 10 players, a top 30, a top 100 in Hammonds, and 2 top 200s. That's a top 5 class.

We don's have room for 3 more players at this point

JC always liked to have a tall, shot-blocking rim protector. Ollie seems to be keeping that going, but I agree that he may end up featuring a lineup with smaller, quicker, more offensively apt bigs. As another poster recently said, he is plugged into the NBA game.

like nova teams? Personally I love the big teams calhoun had... they were intimidating, confident, bullies and you knew if you threw they ball down low you were getting a bucket... I would like ollie to do the same but if they kids aren't out there it doesnt make sense to reach... I do see him recruiting the bigs that can pick in pop or step out

Why do you bring up Bamba?

bamba visited and there was some buzz early in the summer he was high on ollie. since then things have cooled considerably. i'm not sure anyone is cued in anymore, the guy is going about the recruiting process a bit different than other 5 stars , read this.

I read it and thought, "none of this sounds like UConn would be high on his list based on what he said there. I guess that it sounds like no one has a good read on what he will do, but I don't see anything that suggests we are in the running for him at this point. He was at UK Midnight Madness or whatever it's called, correct? That was at least some behavior indicating a choice. I'm not going to give him a thought at this point. If he were to declare for UConn, I'll risk a cardiac incident from the shock.

Sounds like he's doing his research. He would fit right in at harvard, UK....not so much.

It would be pretty great. That said, with Enoch (Jr), Durham (So) and Carlton (Fr), I think we're pretty stacked at the center position for 2017/18.

Ollie has done a really smart job of building out the roster with long-term stability and balance despite a few disappointing recruiting misses in 2014 & 15. Dude's not just a coach, he's thinking like a GM.

I wonder if he can coach the football team too...

Depth is the biggest thing I've been worrying about but the '16 and current '17 class seems to be fixing that.

In regard to Rashaun Hammonds, I say "YES!" (not that anyone is asking, but whatever). He looks like he could be a real player for us. KO is creating a situation with some healthy competition (from our point of view). It will be interesting to see how the minutes get divided this year, but perhaps even moreso in the next year or two. Such balance but I'm not sure we have the star we need yet.
