After all, AK and Mullins were a combined 1-12 from 3 last game. Players have bad games, it happensLet’s not do that thing where we write off a key player over a subpar game. I seriously hate the short memories

The crazy thing is we actually shot a lower percentage than PC.And after a 5-24 in the last game. That's quite a swing. Hurley was right, a very good game follows a very bad game.
He wasn’t benched to send a message. He had a bad game, and when Mullins came back in that last time, he got insanely hot. Stewart was also a better matchup defensively and was fantastic.I simply meant he has been c*cky at moments lately at times when he shouldn't and benching him might bring him down to earth for a moment. But I may also be delirious with the flu right now.
This game was interesting because we didn't run full set most of the time to get looks, we played at a much faster pace today. This is really helpful in getting shooters hot, but also played into PC's hands a bit as they also found a flow. Not sure where the right balance is, but one of the things that I always feels separates us is the ability to run the shot clock and execute a full set. This tends to mentally slog the opposition. And after a 5-24 in the last game. That's quite a swing. Hurley was right, a very good game follows a very bad game.
and his three was criticalI know Stewart won't get the acclaim as he only had 3 points but he was huge on big hustle plays and playing great D. He allowed us to play without Ball. What a game by him and Demary, Mullins. Dawgs. Demary coming out party for sure. He is just solid and he needs to take control of the game. He is the only player who can really find his own offense right now. Mullins will eventually.
Coppin state had no answers for Brimah that night he went for 40. What a fun game.
You always over react to 1 game, 1 play, etc. Relax. Ball will be fine.It was so much more - bouncing passes off Reibe's feet, not boxing out, so many mistakes all over the place. He's simply a liability outside of hunting shots. Lacks intangibles. I've said it for awhile, but I would not be surprised if his time on the floor shrinks as Mullins settles in and Ross/Stew absorb time at the 3, shifting Mullins to the 2. It was pretty clear tonight who Dan Hurley trusts when it matters.
Defense was pretty bad at times in my opinion but a bunch of 25% 3P shooters from Providence bench shot 75% tonight. Uconn has trouble with drives to hoop, and bad offense and stupid TOs lead to some transition baskets for ProvidenceMissed the game. Was the D bad? They were 14/24 from 3. Thank goodness we kept pace
Stay safe. If we don't see any posts from you in the next few days we will call the Providence police. LolI just played the UConn Fight Song on TouchTunes at Murphys Pub in Providence.
Hugs and Kisses from the Deepster.

Not one game though my man Hooper. Let's just put it this way, I'm taking Solo off the floor in any close game situations like tonight within the final 3 minutes. Not reliable. He's great as it comes to being in there and filling it up mid game, but I do not want that dude out there when it's time for good decisions. This isn't the first time Dan Hurley has put him on the bench for long stretches due to him not being a complete player. You always over react to 1 game, 1 play, etc. Relax. Ball will be fine.
Ross coming off injury. What an insane game, fun to watch even if I thought we were doomed most of the game.
Only 3 bench points tonight, not as deep as we thought. Essentially only played 6 guys with Reibe spelling Reed here and there.
Ross only played 1 minute too which was surprising.
Was close! And to boot, Silas was really 7-10 from the floor if you nix that shot.I swear I thought Silas’ half court heave at the buzzer was going in.
I was having flashbacks of the 2023 game at Creighton where the Jays did not miss a three.Could our defense have been better, yes. But Providence played the game of their life. 45 minutes of one on one hero ball, they were hitting everything. Terrible three point shooters looked like Steph curry.
I agree with this. Ball has played well many times this year and been the best UConn player several times. He was just lost in the second half of this one, and it was a smart decision by Hurley to go to Stewart tonight. Different players will have bad games on different nights. It doesn’t mean they are bad players. Ball is a critical part of this team. You always over react to 1 game, 1 play, etc. Relax. Ball will be fine.
Ball has come up big in close games throughout his career. This idea you can’t play him in big situations is reactionary. Not one game though my man Hooper. Ross coming off injury.
Smith playing very little was a bit surprising.
Wasn't that 13 as a frosh coming off the bench?Marcus Williams twice with 16View attachment 115694
Always liked Marcus. Set the standard for looking relaxed all the time, and Tristen Newton was able to nearly match him with that sly smile when on the line needing to make a big free throw.Marcus Williams twice with 16View attachment 115694
The things this dude was saying about Ball just days ago, in a positive way, makes me think he seriously has the memory of a goldfish. Whatever just happened is the only thing that happenedBall has come up big in close games throughout his career. This idea you can’t play him in big situations is reactionary.
Off the top of my head, Maui last year he made humongous shots. We lost. But he made huge clutch shots
IMO he could neither score nor play defense.Just got to a tv for overtime. Why was Solo on the bench?

We shot zero foul shots in the first half. Silas went to lay it up, and got bodied and crashed to the ground, yet no foul. Hurley was making a point as he walked off the floor with the ref to end the half and got t’ed up.Why did Hurley get T’d up at the beginning of the second half?
