Providence Post Game Thread

Why did Hurley get T’d up at the beginning of the second half?
Walking off the court at end of first half he was chirping at the ref on the way to the tunnel. Have never seen a T called like that before but refs are gonna bust Danny's onions whenever they get the chance. Foul shots to start the second half/possession.

Dan Hurley sending a message to Solo. Gotta be a two -way player -esp. in crunch time.
It was so much more - bouncing passes off Reibe's feet, not boxing out, so many mistakes all over the place. He's simply a liability outside of hunting shots. Lacks intangibles. I've said it for awhile, but I would not be surprised if his time on the floor shrinks as Mullins settles in and Ross/Stew absorb time at the 3, shifting Mullins to the 2. It was pretty clear tonight who Dan Hurley trusts when it matters.

It’s water under the bridge but my god, how did the refs not call one foul on the push off on every slip screen when PC was on offense? It was not subtle at all and I feel like English was smartly just daring them to call it. They finally nabbed them for something similar on defense.
I was shocked as well. I mean thet weren't pushing they were shoving guys all night and nothing

That was the kind of win that propels you the rest of the season. They kept fighting all the way through on a night when things didn't go well. Providence shot the lights out, credit to them, but UConn just kept coming late in the game. Honestly, not worried at all about the defense. There will be games like this during the season where the other teams shoots great. We really haven't seen that most of the year. Duncan Powell is a 10% 3 point shooter who made 3 threes. Ridiculous. I think Hurley will use this comeback as a catalyst to push this team forward. Demary is getting better and better (looks much more comfortable) and is on the Newton trajectory (started his 1st year with UConn struggling to pick up the offense and now it seems to be clicking). Bad night for the bench, but they have really helped all season long. This was a starters game, and they really propelled this team to victory. Awesome win!

Appreciate your controversial perspective. It was not Solo's best effort and he's got to set a better example going forward.

I can't believe I couldn't watch this ... but I was TRYING to work while following the gamecast on ESPN... getting more frustrated by the minute, then suddenly it's 6, 4, 2 point game, and then I see "end of 2nd half" I'm like whaaaaaa

I can't wait to watch some highlights. Seems like Silas was our best player for most of the game and Braylon obviously hit some big shots too.

But...giving up close to 90 in regulation to PC? The defense couldn't have been good.
You're a great listener. Silas was a beast and he is really putting it all together in a big way. Mullins three point shooting at the end was all ice. He is not unconscious; he is just really that good and now he is demonstrating it at dagger time. That was probably the best three dagger special I have ever seen in a college game at crunch time. Those two were devastating and on the road!

I wouldn't write off Ball yet. We have seen improvement on D and driving the ball. He just reverted to his old self and was unplayable this game. I'm sure he will rebound and learn from this.

This was clearly an outlier game for him. His D has been much better this year and he’s been an offensive weapon. I know it’s what we do but no reason to overreact to this game.

So much happened during that last 3 minutes of regulation. There was a sequence where they traded 3s late, but the PC 2-on-1 where a teammate stripped the ball with his shoulder what would have been a sure layup was huge.

Lots of missed PC shots, PC turnovers, big time UConn 3s and offense rebounds...what an amazing comeback! Wow!

Yeah Mullins is gone. His shot and movement is so smooth and effortless. I loved when Demary chatted briefly when bringing up the ball in the back court to Mullins and said we are running the play for your shot and he made that 3 in OT. Huge!
He needs one more year, but it ain't gonna happen. He needs to get stronger, but he has all the skills in the world.

I think it was just a horrible game by Solo and Hurley knew he had to make a change to win the game.

That's the beauty of having a bunch of good players.
