Tara announced Hannah Jump will be back next year and that Ashten Prechtel got her master's and is moving on to play professionally. Going into this season I thought Prechtel would have a bigger role on the team but whenever I watched Stanford, she was buried on the bench. She's a pretty unique player and I think was a catalyst in Stanford winning their championship their sophomore year. Jones is moving on to the WNBA. Only senior with question marks is Belibi.
Belibi has been accepted into a program at Harvard per Coach Tara's post game interview.

If Bellini has been accepted into Med school, she won’t be playing next year. If she is enrolling to take pre-med classes. Maybe she’ll play for Harvard.

The young lady has a bright future regardless of her decision. Stanford bs/ba and Harvard masters/doctorate is a

It's easy to forget that even with the increased professional opportunities afforded in the WNBA and overseas that many players will not play basketball competitively again after college and that's fine too.

I have no idea where Prechtel could play professionally but if she wants to give it a shot, more power to her and hopefully she's successful. Belibi's educational background plus overall intelligence will make her successful no matter what she does.

I was wondering why Belibi didn't come up but I was in bed and may have been fighting sleep. So, thank you. I'm a star reporter...

Jump coming back is big for their program. They still have plenty of bigs but the perimeter was a question mark that Jump's return significantly addresses, particularly as the main long range threat to compliment the bigs inside.

But do they have a point guard coming in?

Haley Jones has stated she is going to the WNBA. Seems silly honestly with as much as she is making in college and how much worse her outside shot got this year. I think she'll struggle to make a roster without the ability to hit a shot outside the free throw line and a shaky handle at the next level let alone play. She won't be able to post up the likes of Delle Donne or Taurasi at the next level and players like Plum is Skylar will pick her pocket at will. If she was able to improve those skills to be serviceable it will allow her to be a rookie that can make an impact.
Jones seems like a pretty level headed kid so I'm sure she has talked to many people before making this decision. She has a national championship and presumably a degree in communications from Stanford. Not to mention the NIL podcast which I would think she will continue to do after college. Seems like a pretty good foundation to start your post college life. If she doesn't have wnba talent or it wasn't properly developed, one more year of playing for same coaches isn't going to help that. She can take her shot at wnba and if successful great. If not, she will use that Stanford communications degree and hopefully have personal and professional success.

I listened to the Cavinders interview on the barstool podcast (somewhat shamefully, barstool is terrible) and it sounds like Haley is much more likely than Hanna to use the 5th year, and it's very possible they don't make the same decision regarding that.

Thanks! I follow these Arizona twins and they've really done an outstanding job I think of positioning themselves for post college revenue. I do know they're very close so it's interesting that they may take different directions after this year.

DT? Haley would knock her back like a bowling pin these days... I don't think Diana would stand in Haley's way. Many a post player in the WNBA, I'd agree...

This year's junior class, for instance, Nika, Aaliyah, and Paige (putting aside Paige's injury this year)
More accurately the 2020 recruits (and of course earlier). Any player in the 2021 class will NOT have the Covid year.

I don’t understand why the HS of 2020 gets an extra year. They had a season and postseason.

Fwiw, Brea Beal posted on socials afterwards South Florida was her last game at Carolina. Cooke said after the SEC it was her last SEC tournament.

Nothing official on Boston or Amihere. Speculated Olivia Thompson, little used reserve SG, will transfer to a smaller school for her COVID year where she can be a featured player.

Boston said after South Florida it was “our last game together” at home. Maybe coincidental, maybe not. I’ve said all year she’s more likely to come back than Cooke.

I think the reasoning is because of COVID attendance (and other) rules. Wasn't fair to the freshmen.
Just a guess.

There were quite a few games cancelled during the first season of the covid era. I think that's why the decision was made to grant an extra year.
There were a lot of unknowns and teams that didn't get to complete a full season for a variety of reasons, that impacted the 2020 freshman class. Giving them the extra year seemed fair to me.

I think it would be smart for Amihere to stay. She would likely finally be in a starting role & her stats would rise as a result. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she entered the draft.

Some were wondering if she would get a waiver for next season. Not sure if ISU applied, but it's a moot point now.

edit. The tweet posted was deleted. Screenshot below.

Yes, the season that "didn't count" wasn't the one without the post-season, it was 2020 - 2021. Sort of an acknowledgement that it was a tough year to play, no fans, constant Covid tests.
