Was it Jameson tonight? Or dubra? You guys are dbags. Nothing wrong with some excitement for an incoming player, hyperbole or not. You guys will s*** on a guy whether he's hyping up a player or trashing him.
Dude its blasphemy to compare a high schooler to Kemba and Bazz. We didn't allow Jalen that opportunity either. You guys are dbags. Nothing wrong with some excitement for an incoming player, hyperbole or not. You guys will s*** on a guy whether he's hyping up a player or trashing him.
Kemba and Bazz don't grow on trees, it's extremely rare to get two players of that caliber in succession. To predict that type of success for a high schooler based on clips and high school games is nuts. He's undoubtedly an exciting prospect, but let's let him be Alterique for now.Dude its blasphemy to compare a high schooler to Kemba and Bazz. We didn't allow Jalen that opportunity either.
Its not trashing the player its just UConn guards are great, and AG has not earned that right. My suggestion to you isdon'tnever believe the mixtape hype, no guard shoots 100% efficiency.

Boat's mixtapes were equal to AG's, and he too was a prolific scorer in high school. With that said after four years his jersey is not on that wall. We've had some great ones, and that's an understatement if there is one. That LSU freshman comes once every 4 or so years, meaning Div 1 ball is not easy to adjust to, or dominate for that matter.Kemba and Bazz don't grow on trees, it's extremely rare to get two players of that caliber in succession. With extremely few exceptions, freshmen are freshmen. That said. I have been as excited about AG as I have been about anyone except Andre. Not for how he will play the moment he gets here, but for how he will be playing when he leaves.

Did Kemba or Bazz average 18/6 as a freshman? All those guys took time to develop into their games, I don't think he expects him to be Kemba day one. The guy definitely wasn't saying it like it was a matter of fact, or that he was making a bold prediction or something. He said it in the same way a fan will over zealously be excited for a players future, everyone does it. It's more that 3 guys start making fun of him for being a teenager or something as if that's not welcome on this board. But when the kid comes in and doesn't get 18/6 as a freshman, those same people will trash him as a bust. I'd rather trash on posters than on players. Temper expectations ahead of time and enjoy the kids growth.
I get your point, but Boat was not a five-star recruit. Most five star recruits end up playing very well especially in Connecticut jerseys. that said, I'm not expecting much out of any incoming freshman.Boat's mixtapes were equal to AG's, and he too was a prolific scorer in high school. I'm excited and giddy to bring in AG, but many of us have seen this motion picture before with different endings.

We teenagers are well aware that receiving crap because of our age is part and parcel of being here. I personally rationalize it by reminding myself that I have a fuller head of hair and more physical vitality than a good chunk of the 'Yard.
Huge difference between being excited and welcoming (which I'm willing to bet we all are) and unrealistic expectations, which, given the history of this board, often end in a sh_t show. Those of us tempering those expectations are doing so to avoid the sh_t show.
A teenager with a 4.0, though!
GPA or blood alcohol level??I'm 21 and I now have a 3.87, lol.
He's much more poised and under control than Adams is. But just because he was recruited higher doesn't mean Gilbert isn't better. I'm not saying he is I'm just sayingWe shouldn't assume he'll be an instant success. Jalen Adams was a better recruit and he hasn't lit the world on fire yet. Things take time for most kids.

We old farts are just having fun with you young-uns.Exactly, thank you. In my 21 years I've never been more excited about a player as Alterique Gilbert. I had the opportunity to see him at the Peach Jam this year and wow can he play. He will be an absolute star on defense. He will annoy the out of opposing point guards. All I'm saying is this kid will be a great at UConn.
