Hernandez is the definition of Loser. What a jacka$$. Why is he even remotely involved with these kind of scum? Bottom line, AH and his buddies are scum of the earth. He had it all, and still hangs out with garbage. Throw away the key. He does not belong in society, even if he didnt pull the trigger. Go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

After AH committed to UConn. Addazio fake recruited another Bristol kid, he then got AH to "accompany" the fake recruit (a player Addazio/Florida had no interest in signing). Wosre Addazio did this without letting AH mother know he was on his way to Florida. So behing his mother's back Addazio and AH went to Gainesville. Lord only knows what recruiting ploys were used on that trip.But Addazio bagged his trophy.

So what did AH learn from Addazio.

1 sneak around to get your way,
2 to avoid your love ones,
3 to break your word,
4 commitment means nothing.

I read in a WEEI report that they can't go after it now that he's released. They went through this with Fanene last year. Had to hold his rights while they went after the bonus. This would be like the Raiders releasing, say, Jamarcus Russell, then coming after his signing bonus AFTER he was convicted post release.

I referenced Michael Vick, but the league source in one of the articles I read regarding the cap relief that they received in 2011 indicated that each case will be decided on an individual basis. The Krafts are not that unsavvy to not include the league in on their decision process over the last week+.

This isn't England where the procedure is to arrest a person for questioning. Here that is rarely done. If they arrested him they have probable cause and he'll likely be arraigned within a pretty short time frame.

Remember AH didn't line up like a normal TE. Ballard can't play the role AH did. However, someone like Edelman or another receiver could fill that role. Might not have height but Ballard won't fill AH role.

Maybe its time to readdress the Rookie Symposium and institute some additional guidance sessions other than for two days at the Hall of Fame Game (or whenever it is). These are 21-23 year old kids with $millions. I entered the workforce out of college, making mid $30ks with an assigned mentor by my then-employer. I don't see how this would hurt athletes making multiple 100x that amount.

To me however is that the kid made a mistake. Let him go through the legal system, pay his debt to society (if any), suffer the consequences of the NFL (if any further), and I'm not opposed to giving him another chance, so long he earns it and is good enough. Its the 3rd 4th and 5th chances I have a problem with.

Update from ESPNBoston. There's still a lot of uncertainty regarding cap charge and bonus.

Obviously secondary to the news of Aaron Hernandez's arrest and his subsequent release from the Patriots, some have wondered what it means for the team, salary-cap wise.

Here is what we know:

Last summer, the Patriots gave him a five-year contract worth $40 million. The deal included a $12.5 million signing bonus. At this point, when looking solely at signing bonus and base salaries, Hernandez has earned $9.79 million of the extension.

His new salary-cap charge in 2013 is just over $5 million, an increase of about $1 million, league sources told ESPN. For 2014, that charge will be $7.5 million, which is the remaining pro-ration of his signing bonus.

It’s unclear what kind of communication, if any, the Patriots had with the NFL regarding Hernandez’s contract over the past nine days. By releasing Hernandez on Wednesday, the Patriots appear to have waived all rights to recoup any bonus money or salary through the CBA.

One other factor to consider: A club can recover bonus money and avoid a cap hit if a player violates one of the league's personal conduct policies or defaults on contract language. It’s possible the Patriots have talked to the NFL about this possibility, but that’s unknown at this point.

This is untrue. AH was under 18 at the time and could not travel to FL without his mother's sign-off.

Yah, I just don't think that has anything to do with murder and obstruction of justice charges. Plenty of athletes back out of commitments and you don't see them get involved in this kind of . It's unrelated at best, and coincidental at worst.

Your last post says he was under 18 at the time which means he was a kid when he made his decision. Give it a rest. He's a man now and he obviously has integrity issues but I can't hammer him for going to Florida over UConn. He fulfilled every dream he probably had as a little boy by going to UF. Unfortunately, it appears he's thrown it all away.

There are literally dozens of football and basketball recruits who back out of commitments every single year. Add in transfers, and you're talking about hundreds of kids.
