You had to see this coming when they asked him to leave Gillette Stadium last week.

I want him to pick himself up by his bootstraps, but damm, What a series of bad decisions?

Wonder if he was told "please do not wear anything with a patriots logo when they come to cuff you".

Wonder if he was told "please do not wear anything with a patriots logo when they come to cuff you".

From the sounds of it (D&C morning show), he was woken up by the knock on the door. He answered the bell in only a pair of gym shorts. They put a white t-shirt on him after he was cuffed. I don't think he had any choice what to wear...

Whether or not the judicial system is going to release him should be much greater question and concern.

The Patriots, a billion dollar enterprise, have their best investigators on this. At the very least, they've learned he is guilty of obstruction, and that in and of itself is enough to get rid of him and any association with the team. But of course, they could have also learned something much worse, that Aaron is the murderer. I wouldn't read too much into the release other than Aaron had a big part in what happened.

Agreed 100% upstater. As some folks, including an ex-Patriots player, have suggested, the security organizations of NFL teams are always very tied in to local and state law enforcement. They know much more than we do at this point, that much is certain. Doesn't look good for Aaron.

I agree and, like I've said before, AH appears to be the only one being targeted in this investigation. I wish someone could find out more about the other 2 guys with AH the night of the murder. The silence about those 2 make me wonder if they are talking in private to cut a deal.

It just seems weird AH is the only one in the news.

The other two are related to Aaron. A cousin, and then the uncle of his fiancee. Since the murdered guy was the boyfriend (or ex-boyfriend as some reported) of his fiancee's sister, this sounds like a family affair.

AH is the only one in the news because it was his house and he's a celebrity. It could be any one of the 3 (or 5 -- the two sisters) who pulled the trigger, or it could be all of them together. I doubt the dead guy picked up a hitchhiker a mile from Aaron's house and was killed soon after. It's unlikely that it was an unconnected person. But then again, the facts of this case point to an angry or passionate exchange that lead in the killing. Otherwise, if it were planned, these people are incredibly stupid.

I don't think fans have to read into it any further than he was getting suspended anyway. The league is not subject to any legal limits or rulings and Goodell has set precedent that an arraignment violates the sportsmanship/morals clause of the CBA and is enough to take action up to and including suspension (Pac Man Jones, Mike Vick, Plaxico Burress). The Patriots just beat the NFL to the punch, by distancing themselves last week and cutting him today. Hernandez wasn't going to play this year anyway, so this saves them actual money, if not room under the cap going forward. Business decision. Period. The End.

FWIW, a writer from New York was on WEEI yesterday. He said Tebow looks like a lost puppy at any position except QB, where he's not very good either. I don't see a significant chance of Tebow playing TE. The Ballard signing was fortuitous, in retrospect.

You're assuming a lot though. It says Hernandez was taking into custody, not charged. We don't know anything about an arraignment. AND, the Patriots just took a big cap hit by getting rid of him now. If they had held onto him, and if he had been suspended or charged, they could have gone after his signing bonus. Kraft and the Patriots just ate $7 million to avoid bad publicity. This was not a business decision that helped their cap nor their bank account. It only aided somewhat in their image.

Mass State Police tweeted that he's being booked and arraigned later today. Didn't say what charges.

Also, the Patriots can still go after the signing bonus.

He been questioned and searched for the better part of 10 days. He was not allowed to get dressed, He did not get dropped off by his attorney at the Police Station. He was cuffed w/hand behind his back AND THEN they put a plain white t-shirt on him over the cuffs. True that there is no footage of him being given his Miranda Rights but does that sound like the police asking for additional questioning "downtown?"

Plus a lawyer was on with D&C this morning, who said that given all we know, an arraignment is probable before the day is out.

Regarding the cap hit, Depending on the wording of the CBA, the Patriots will likely go after Hernandez for breach of contract. There is no way they released Hernandez without being in touch with and getting guidance from the league offices (See: Vick, Michael, Atlanta Falcons).

Agree. You don't "plan" on dumping a body a mile from your own (celebrity) home, especially having hung out with the dead guy all evening long. That's panicky. So is destroying surveillance and phones. No thought there. Just fear.

That's because the Jets were the ones trying to use him. The marvelous job they've done with other guys like Sanchez tempers that observation in my eyes. Note: I don't think he'll be playing tight end anytime soon; Pats are still deep at tight end anyway.

However, I could see Tebow being used in a versatile half/full back type role, similar to some of the things Hernandez has done. That's all on the table.

I read in a WEEI report that they can't go after it now that he's released. They went through this with Fanene last year. Had to hold his rights while they went after the bonus. This would be like the Raiders releasing, say, Jamarcus Russell, then coming after his signing bonus AFTER he was convicted post release.

They might go after cap relief or signing bonus post move, as they did successfully with Jonathan Fahnene. I thought they did let go of JF's rights at some point....so maybe the process only needs to be started before the release? There's no iron law there in special circumstances.

Hernandez is the definition of Loser. What a jacka$$. Why is he even remotely involved with these kind of scum? Bottom line, AH and his buddies are scum of the earth. He had it all, and still hangs out with garbage. Throw away the key. He does not belong in society, even if he didnt pull the trigger. Go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

I don't think that's on the table, at all, or even close.

Tim Tebow has never done a single thing on the football field that would make me think he can replicate anything Hernandez has done except for the couple of times Hernandez took a handoff, though I would argue Hernandez showed he's much faster and more fluid than Tebow on the limited handoffs he could take.

Why anyone wants to think Tebow could be a TE or an H-back is so beyond me. When has he ever blocked? When has he ever caught passes?

This isn't England where the procedure is to arrest a person for questioning. Here that is rarely done. If they arrested him they have probable cause and he'll likely be arraigned within a pretty short time frame.

Tebow runs the ball with far more power than AH, and has done so plenty in the past. Pats hand off to Hernandez a number of times. Plus, Tebow makes an excellent decoy. And forces teams to game plan, especially if he's used early in the season in various roles. That's invaluable.

Ultimately, I've no doubt BB could figure out an effective role for him, over and above what either you and I could divine.

Generally, because you don't pick your family. That said, AH should have limited contact with this element of his family once he became pro. Hang out with DJ 24/7.
