Per Geno’s presser today, during UConn’s most recent practice they ran a 3-pt shooting drill with Paige on the sideline watching and hit an all-time record number of 3’s for that drill.

Tomorrow’s game vs Xavier could be a lot of fun to watch. :)

Who were the likely contributors? Azzi? Allie? Sarah?

I wouldn’t mind seeing Allie start.
Allie and Q both suffer purely from a numbers issue.

They both add a lot when they play. Allie may end up over time being a 45% sharpshooter. Q does something amazing in every game; acrobatic baseline drive, over the top pass, 5 quick rebounds, difficult catch and score on the break come to mind.

We are lucky to have both!

Paige out should lead to big games from Chen, KK and Ash.

This could honestly be a good for the team, not as in another player is injured, but more because now more role players have to step up. Maybe this is what pushes Azzi to be the 20 PPG threat we know she can be. Maybe this is where Ash and KK hone their offensive skills. Maybe even a Cheli breakout game.

Xavier is the worst team in a P5 conference. The only thing learned from this game would be something negative.
No, that’s not correct. Whether you’re playing against practice players or cupcakes, every time a team takes the floor, there is something positive you can learn and accomplish. More specifically, UConn will play an entire game without their best player. Geno is looking to see who steps up in her absence. At the same time he’s looking for Jana & Ice to continue to develop their post games.

Player and team development is a continuous process that doesn’t stop, regardless of the opponent.

Unfortunately, I won't be seeing Paige play on Saturday at Georgetown by all indications. That is if the game is even played as there is a potential snow storm in the forecast for Saturday and snow and DC do not do well together.

My daughter lives in Arlington and she says there was already some snow. Is there more coming? The embassy where she works already closed Monday and Tuesday.

Out of curiosity, what is considered too much snow in DC? Would it be like Vancouver, British Columbia where a few inches (e.g. 3-5) causes a lot of problems?

They usually shut down everything when a wintry mix is in the forecast. I lived in the DC suburbs from 1978 to 2005 and any snow on the ground was a disaster. However, many years in that time, there were snow storms that left many inches of snow and sometimes even a foot or more.

I used to live in Northern VA. 2 inches of snow can shut everything down.
Thanks for the insight. It sounds very similar to Vancouver which is a little surprising to me.

You never know. Watching the news this morning and listening to Geno, he said if she's ready to go, then she'll play.

DC lacks the snow clearing equipment to manage snow. Plus, lots of drivers in that area don't have a lot of experience driving in icy conditions. I don't know what Vancouver's excuse is, though.

I lived in DC for about 16 years and almost any amount of snow is problematic. For multiple reasons. They don't have the equipment like other locals and typically snow in DC is never just snow. It usually comes in combination with multiple precipitation types during the event which causes more drama.
