Pac-12 Tournament thread

Uh-oh...Cal has cut the lead to 15. Our Oregon 50 win home streak is on the line (20 wbb, 20 mbb, 10 fb)...we don't like losing in Eugene....but they just put Sabrina's pics up on ESPN2 with her 2k/1k/1k stats and then said if they keep the lead up her brother might play.

There's a brand new Cayman commercial...that I've already seen about 100 times. This one has a woman perched on the back of about a 30 foot long iguana. Take that Khaleesi.
Somewhere beyond the sea, somewhere waiting for me,....

Are they playing this years Pac 12 tournament in the same arena that they did last year? @Plebe

Hristova checking out for probably the last time. Just missed cracking the Top 10 in scoring in Pac 12 history.

.-.
3 close games today...and this one. 82-55 final.

Nope. They're in the Mandalay Bay Events Center; last year it was the MGM Grand Garden Arena or whatever it's called.

As I detailed up above (Pac-12 Tournament thread), I am giving this change a thumbs-down.

It's my understanding that next year they're moving the tourney back to Seattle. Vegas is easier to get to for me, but I don't think I can do it more than two years in a row.

I think this was decided years ago, but I'm a little surprised it's leaving Vegas. Everything is in Vegas. Almost every Western conference has men's and women's tourneys there.

Did they draw better in Seattle?

I haven't seen side by side comparison of attendance for Vegas vs. Seattle. I think Oregon and Oregon St. contingents both represented well in Seattle. Fairly easy drive up I-5 for them. Not sure how many local fans were getting out to the games.

Yes to Vegas (or other neutral venue). No to one team's home court or home city.

You know what they say about payback. Arizona instantly up 7-0 on Cal, forcing a timeout not even 90 seconds into the game.

Cal has fought back into this. They are playing with a lot of confidence lately.

Good ball game. 23-18 Arizona thru Q1. Brown going off for Cal, Reese having her best game in a while for UA.

Arizona stretched their lead to as much as 17 in Q2. 41-27 at the half. Reese and Brown have both scored 12, obviously Cats getting more scoring from other players than the Bears. McDonald struggling, 3-12 from the floor. She's wearing an air cast and I think is clearly not 100%.

Refs asserting themselves in Q3. 9 combined fouls in 2 1/2 minutes. Arizona in the bonus already and Cal will be on the next call. Boring.

.-.
The life has been completely sucked out of this game. 12 fouls called in 4 1/2 minutes, this quarter is just FT shooting practice.

That quarter took forever. 62-44 UA thru 3. Reese has 23 on 10-12 shooting.

Cal w/ a barrage of 3's to start Q4, but Arizona has had a few of their own. 70-55 w/ 7 and change left. Reese has tied her career high w/ 26. You know it's your day when you somehow bank in a 3 from the corner. McDonald is in danger of having her streak of 64 double figure scoring games ended.

Arizona firmly in control, but they're getting some offensive fouls and I think a technical coming up here. Gotta maintain their composure. Up 17 w/ 3:41 left.

McDonald did get to 10 points.

86-73 final. Cal made it a bit interesting. Monster game for Reese, 30 on 13-15 shooting. McDonald only 6-17. Brown had 25 for Cal but only 6-18 from the floor. Pueyo did some stat sheet stuffing--7 pts 6 reb 8 assists 2 blocks and a steal.

Can't wait for the Sabrina, Ruthy, and Satou show, with Boley time and filet of Minyon, as supporting cast of Taylor, Jaz, and Lydia. Let's see if fab frosh Brynna Maxwell and Lola Pendande and the rest of the Utes can help them to lose by less than they did the last two games (37 & 27).

I have been watching Anne Schatz doing sports for 30 years and still love her energy. She does a good job for the PAC12 Network.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time until UO goes on a big run and blows this wide open, but Utah not looking intimidated to start. Tied up at the first media TO.

12-7 Utah...Ducks shooting terrible

Maxwell w/a pair of 3's already. I like this kid. 7-8 behind the arc in the tourney so far.

19-16 Utah thru Q1. Utes had last possession, plenty of time, Gylten just dribbled up high and settled for about a 35 foot heave. What was she doing?

Last two times they played the Utes were down by 19 and 16 respectively after 1 qtr
