Oregon played like crap and was right there. Their star guard sucked down the stretch.

Tonight was the title game and once against Auriemma handed it over to Muffett.

He should be ashamed of himself.

Because his team missed 77 layups?

They are terrible. Losing in the national semis. Cancel the program.

What they really need is a tall, strong, good rebounding/shot blocker to complement Nelson-Ododa who presumably will keep improving. (Shoot 200 ft a day) They were really hurt inside tonight and in other games.more than anything. Players miss shots, but giving a good offensive opponent too many extra shots really hurts. If Walker is stuck again having to defend power forwards and being prime rebounder that’s not a good thing against better teams because I think it minimizes her strengths. The backcourt starters should be as good as any although Crystal didn’t have her best game tonight.

I suspect that good players will continue to come to play for Geno and if other talented players don’t want to play with PB in a few years they don’t.understand what she can do for them.

And the next possession was the block by turner.

Right play by the players. Turner just made a great play.

One that should’ve been irrelevant because of the great play designs by geno to get them 79 layups

You’re forgetting he designed a defense to allow a lot of lay ups in the last 5 minutes too you neglect to discuss that. That’s actually part of coaching as crazy as it seems.

I watch the women sometimes but definitely watch all games during tournament. I said to someone before game if it’s close we are in trouble. Love Geno but his teams play tight in close games. Got away with it against Louisville. Not tonight.
This particular team played tight in close games. Even stewie had to play it out a few times.

IF they get Azzi Fudd on top of her, then at least another year on top. THAT kid is the truth. Once in a lifetime. Kid just won national player of the year. As a sophomore.
She gonna go elsewhere. My guess. Mississippi state and Louisville are hot spots right now

Why? She plays with Paige, loves it, and they are great friends. I can see it happening.

Geno obviously still nails the #1 kid often. Let's be honest, he's really only had one rough year of recruiting misses.

Oh yeah, and what is he gonna do when another good team comes straight at them in the final minutes?

No one thinks its odd this guy needs a SUPERSTAR every single time to win? 3 #1 ranked players and 3 other top 5 recruits wasn't enough?
Ask calipari and K though I don’t compare the overall competition. Women is getting much deeper as the 2&3s are legit threats.

Misses arent the problem, its losing so many players

How can you only have 6.5 players, cmon

If Geno is not winning championships then how many years does he stay? This could go on for a while. See Tom Coughlin after 2011. He thought he could get one more. Until he recruits players that can really handle and score creating on their own he will struggle. That is what has been stopping him in the Final 4. Muffett was doing the jig on the court after the game, she loves beating Geno, how long can he take that?

Collier is their best player. Half the problem was they ignored her in the second half.

They missed like legit 15 layups.

They choked.
True but she is another anomaly. An undersized big more of a stretch 4 who often struggles to establish against players her size in the paint. Great skill but not real banger. Tina Charles is what we want.

I think he was caught off guard by Azura going pro tbh. That completely changes how this year's group could play.

Most of his teams only play 7 players max in the tournament and big games.

He has notoriously stingy recruit requirements. With parity improving, I think he needs to relax those a little. He still has his pick, but there isn't a wide enough pool of these kids to go around.

I really want to see him get some of the junk yard dog types they've had in the past. Someone with a little edge and nastiness.

Did I say that? Sorry for calling him out but try to recognize the facts despite seeing him as God.
No balls slapping my chin. But he kinda is god in this particular arena. Just saying.

I’d go more with the rebounding.

How many fade aways did they make while UConn missed layups?

They got a bunch of points at the end in transition off those missed layups

I took a parlay that would’ve hit if they covered (+2.5) but that ending was awful.

We keep getting beat by teams with an inside presence. We’re the best team in the world....lets get at least one powerful inside player

Don’t disagree with any of this.

But she was their best player and probably should’ve been NPoY as she lead the nation in win shares.

She’s a legitimate great. But she’s just different from the rest. She was the only one who did anything on the boards.

But she had some of the worst layup misses of them all. I’m not sure it’s possivle to be more open than she was on her misses (in a half court set).

I love that he's looking internationally again

Just something missing. May need more pepper or get more salty. No anger this group.

Absolutely. He's got to.

Also remember RE the lack of depth, they got hit by transfers over the last few years. Really good players too, like Espinoza-Hunter. Pissed about that one.

And the 'secondary' players form those classes are now the bench. Bent and Irwin, who aren't really the 'elite' type.
