OT: US Open

It's set along the ocean, not in the middle if Midwestern farm land

Shinnecock is another greenish-brown minimal tree inland links as well, so it will look similar on TV next year, just like it did in 04. It's a shorter, far superior course with no 2 consecutive holes playing in the same direction, no level lies, smaller landing areas and far more penal greens/complexes. But if the wind is down these guys might blitz it

And I agree - they put a square peg in a round hole. They cleared every tree off the grounds to build the course, it's a contrived modern golf course.

There are plenty of better 'second shot' courses built in the last 20 years than EH

This is the last of the USGA going to some new gimmicky public course

How is it gimmicky? Please elaborate. There are a few really cool holes on the course, but it's not my favorite US Open course or a place I'd plan a golf trip around.

Sure, there's a couple blind shots, but the strategy is in placing the tee shot on the correct side of the fairway to give the best angle in. The player makes the decision on the best line for them, not dictated by a 15 yard wide fairway, which is refreshing.

Brooks K and Brian H are tied for the lead and I believe their driving average this week is different by about ~30 yards. That's awesome.

.-.
If I'm the USGA, I'm grazing cattle on the course.

Let's see those fancy candy asses navigate that hazard.

12-13 under. In the US Open. Foolishness. This is the John Deere Open. And a B squad leader board too. Awful

All the tournaments go low every now and then. Bunch of top 50 guys at the top. It's all good!

Id rather watch a 1-0 baseball or hockey game in the finals than some 7-6 goal fest, but this is what we have, gotta roll with it. I think the lack of US Open feel also comes from the large property. Course is like 350 acres (600+ acre property) and tees are far from previous green. No green side roars that roll into cheers walking to the next tee. Course is playing tougher now, should make for a good back 9!

Doubtful, this course is a total joke. No demanding shots anywhere.

Harman is Lee Janzen, so boring, no distance compared to current players.

The US Open is the only place you see these boring players win like Janzen, Andy North, Curtis Strange, etc.

I mean Jimmy Walker won the PGA Championship last year so I wouldn't say the US Open is the only place.

No trouble, wide fairways eh greens stand up and blast it and chase. These new gimmicky courses are ruining the Open. Might as well play at East Hartford next year.

Rickie is a joke

-3 for last 48+ holes

Like him, but dude is not a closer

My friend's brother is the Commissioner of the PGA, I'll relay all your gripes to him.

Ok sarcastic guy.

They are selling a product why would they care what their audience thinks right?

Rest easy my opinion is not in short supply. I imagine they have twitter. I have friends who work for the tour - you do know the PGA and USGA are different things right? I have zero doubt my friends at PGA HQ disagree me with - zero.

Ask yourself this - who watched this weekend and said to themselves: Wow I really want to play Erin Hills.

FWIW my aunt's cousin was seeing a certain coach of whom you have been critical - I'll ask her to pass along your notes.

So you don't want me to relay your complaints to him?

Ollie doesn't listen to Calhoun, you really think he's going to listen to a women he used to see, or listen to me?

I had an issue at McDonald's the other day - do you happen to know anyone at Burger King?

Me? Who cares, Rickie probably more upset than me right now

Played 1 good round, not enough to win

I think Rickie will get his eventually. It took Sergio like 2 decades to do it.

The funny thing is the people complaining about the low scores probably don't realize Hideki shot a 276, DJ shot a 276 last year, but because Oakmont is now a par 70 (it use to be a par 72) the under par score this year looks so inflated. USGA could have played this at a par 70 and people would have been fine.

Not sure what you could like that much about CBS's coverage because this is not bad.
He likes his binky Jim Nance the UConn sycophant that your school gave a NC ring to. There is nothing more to Whaler than that. Transparent as they come

Koepka ripped the field up, good for him. He was close for a while, wonder if this propels him to bigger things as you can see the potential?
I think yes, just like what happened to his buddy.
