OT - Tiger/Masters Talk

I don't know how Tiger feels about Steve Williams or vice versa.

I did read an article a few weeks ago during the Bay Hill tournament where they were guestimating the net worth of many golfers and stuff. Steve Williams is estimated around $20M. Not bad for a looper. He is well beyond carrying clubs to make a living.

I think that number is fiction.

If he's worth $20M, he would have had to have earned well in excess of that and he certainly hasn't.

He's not beyond carrying clubs for a living as that is exactly what he does.

He made an estimated $9,000,000 toting tigers clubs between 1998 and 2011. He also had endorsement deals with valvoline, Duck Bond tape and I believe a couple of others. While he might not have 20mil he sure ain't hurting

BTW, this is making it's way around the internet today (from Lindsay Vonn's ex husband twitter). Too funny.

From the couch: TV viewer plays rules official in penalizing Tiger...

Masters officials regularly take phone calls from viewers citing rules violations by players.

The funny thing is that the call-in basically saved Tiger's skin. If it weren't for that call-in, there wouldn't have been conflicting rulings that led to the waiver of the DQ.

2 strokes won't help the Tiger.

Jack won a Major at 40. Meara won 2 at 41. Vijay Singh won 2 between ages 37-41. Michelson won 1 at 40. Jack had that nice win at the ripe old age of 46.

Tiger's won one major in 5 years. Like Vijay Tiger will be good enough to make a million every year while keeping his name warm to pimp Nike and Course Design

Exactly what I expected, Tiger is incapable of shooting 67s on tough tracks. He makes too many mistakes, he flails his drives, mid to long range iron game is inconsistent.

Yeah, yeah, he'll never win anything again. Can I quote you on that?

Follow the whole thread and discussion genius. Talk is him @ majors, where he hasn't won one in 5 years and never trailing 54 holes.

Your post back at the start was that you don't expect him to win another major (you did hedge a little bit and say he might win 1 at some point).

I would think it's obvious that I was talking about majors as well. You'd have to be an idiot to think he'd never win any event again.

True, never day never. I would take the field and course over him in everyone from here on out. He could have that great week, but who knows. He just seems to be a nonfactor on the weekends, he struggles for that great round b

He had one truly bad hole this week. I'm not ready to slam the door on him, when he's looked better and better as time goes on because of one awful hole.

I don't like Tiger much, but the never won when down after 54-hole thing is the stupidest stat in sports that has actually gained traction. The Yankees, Celtics and Canadiens have won almost 70 championships, but how many have they won after trailing two games to none? I don't know - and who gives a crap? You win them how you win them. When you go to the "ok, you've won a lot, but now I'm going to nit-pick how you won them" card is when you are admitting you have a lousy hand.

It's like people who complain the Butler game was ugly. I always say the banner in the ceiling is just as pretty as he rest of them.

"I'm just asking the question" is just a cop out.

And I'm pretty sure Chin Diesel thought you were saying he should get an asterisk too.

Alright Mr KNOWALL - thanks for reading my mind - ever hear about a rhetorical open question to set a discussion?
Take the TW tinted glasses off, my son is a Tiger worshipper as well as a scratch golfer himself and his comment is that Tiger has done NOTHING but play golf his whole life so he should know the rules inside out up and down. He employs a professional caddy and pays him in part to know the rules inside and out up and down.
You can take your pretty sure and stuff it - I wasn't speaking in favor for someone named Chin Diesel or stating that I thought or feel an * would be appropriate.
I made a point and Chin Diesel happened to make a comment about my post

I'm thinking that Tiger thought that he was able to drop on the same line as where the ball went over the water but no closer to the hole. He mistakenly thought the wrong rules applied to the drop, he acted in accord with what he thought were the applicable rules. The committee thought that he acted in accord with the rules that were actually applicable. They reviewed while he was playing and because of the timing, the only reason that Tiger would have been guilty of signing an incorrect score card is that the rules committee made a mistake as well.

If they had initially determined it was an improper drop then he would have had the 2 strokes reflected on his scorecard prior to signing and turning it in.

Not neccessarily - a golfer can submit a card and then go into the clubhouse and a discussion could evolve amongst the golfers and/or caddies that questioned what someone saw and if the golfer who was suspected of a "mistake" subsequently admits to an error, in the past it meant auto DQ, in past 2 years it means 2 stroke penalty or DQ - tournament choice

Steve Williams is an a**!!!!
who got the last laugh - I AM NOT A TIGER HATER FYI
but I don't worship him nor respect him-for reasons beyond the wife thing-
he is good for the game

No way he sniffs Jack's 18.

There is no technical definition for "sniffing", but I think 14 means he has already sniffed it. He may come up short (I would bet against him, if I had to pick a side), but he certainly made a run at it.

Not sure what the "last laugh" would be about? I don't get that........I'm guessing besides some of you geniuses he has been over the "Tiger fired me?" .........but the only fact I threw out was he is an a**!!! And he is.....;)

Adam Scott, good dude and I'm happy for him........he's deserving of a major!! But he also hasn't won as much as he should, maybe it's the caddie!! LOL

Adam Scott! Great win and long overdue for my favorite golfer. Tiger didn't have it today and got outplayed, which I don't mind seeing anymore. All comes down to putts and he couldn't make any when needed. I don't want to hear anyone say he should've won it if that penalty stuff didn't happen because Scott and Cabrera were throwing darts all day long. They were on another level than Tiger

I think we all agree Stevie Williams is having a good time tonight. Tiger or no Tiger.

Haha. Can't believe how much money that guy's made by carrying a bag. Should rethunk professions earlier in life.

I

Dunno, my response is always that I thought it was the most beautiful fun-hating game ever. different strokes.

And that right there is why I don't think he's over it! (and word on the street)

Guess what?

He might've.

Both of those two have thrown up on their shoes before and having Woods in their midst likely would have caused one or both to do just that.
