Umm, who knows what he's at. Go watch his 16-18 today, awful golf holes. He scrambles and hangs around, but he gives himself too few birdie opportunities. His driving is awful. His length used to allow him to hit his stinger and still have a low or mid range iron in, no more. Has to hit woods and just awful. If his short game wasn't strong this week he'd be 6-8 back.

He can't have huge portions of his game not working. Yes, he can win a number of Honda Classics with bad fields, but he will struggle to win another major. Best chance is 2015 open @ St Andrews.

No way he sniffs Jack's 18.

I love Tiger haters, they are in denial........I could care less if he wins this one or not if you think he's not back to a point where he is competitive enough to win majors your ignorant. He's playing like the old Tiger and the way he played even the last 3 holes despite being all over the place is a major reason he's back......he was never consistently in fairways stinger or not. He hit 5 iron to 12 feet on 15 yesterday so you're right his length blows now!!....but the best is "If his short game wasn't strong this week he'd be 6-8 back."........that's the first time that's ever happened to a pro golfer huh?

Thank you for making sense. The blind hatred that this guy gets is unbelievable.

Yeah huh? Listen I get the fact he cheated on his wife and to many their sense of morals will never allow him back in their fav's, that's fine. It's the holier than thou who already disliked the character prior to knowing he was cheating and now they hammer him whenever possible, especially with this little "who cares" mishap Friday. It's ridiculous quite honestly because whether you like him or hate him golf's not the same on the weekend without him involved........let's see how many viewers are staring down the TV with a Cabrera Snedeker final run? I will watch it because I love golf, but I know there are mahy that would rather see Tiger trying to come back or even fail for that matter.....he is huge for the game and the only reason it is where it is!!! It's not Phil or Rory I promise!

His short game is exceptionally well, he's making a higher % of up and downs and par saves than normal, probably 3-4 shots favorable than a normal week.

I'm a huge Tiger fan, favorite golfer by far. I just observe his game and why he hasn't won majors in last several years.

He hasn't won with a 54 hold deficit, which is telling. We'll see at Oakmont, that place is brutal.

Agree on Oakmont but that may take out all of the top players that week because it's brutal..........he will certainly be tested as will all of golf........that course will be won by the straightest hitter who makes putts and stays out of the most trouble.......the stinger may be back for that one!

He's always made more saves than anyone from crazy places I don't think he's any better at that this year...........stats may tell us otherwise!

Another angle.

Tiger's caddy f-ed up big time. Players can get caught up in the moment, brain fart, etc. But the caddy has to stay calm and make sure the drop is legal.

Is Stevie Williams laughing is ass off somewhere you think?

.-.
Yes and really why he has never won a major w/o 54 hole lead. He can't catch guys, he gives himself too few legit chances in a round. Unless he plays a virtually flawless round and goes for a 66 or so he won't change that streak today.

His margin between the field is narrow and is really negative in these strong fields, the field is better. He may get another 1 or even 2 majors, but I doubt 4-5.

The field is definitely better. A large part of that is due to Tiger himself I would say, forcing everyone else to raise their games.

He'll be two holes behind Tiger caddying for Adam Scott today

OK, so maybe a chuckle instead. Doesn't want to interrupt the course of play.

I just don't understand why it would be so funny to Steve Williams......Tiger knows the rules better than he or his new caddy........and his guy isn't doing a lot of winning!

.-.
I don't know how Tiger feels about Steve Williams or vice versa.

I did read an article a few weeks ago during the Bay Hill tournament where they were guestimating the net worth of many golfers and stuff. Steve Williams is estimated around $20M. Not bad for a looper. He is well beyond carrying clubs to make a living.

Dude, it was a small joke. Steve and Tiger split in slightly less than amicable circumstances (sarcasm). Tiger fired him and Steve was irate.

It's not about who knows the rules better. It's about being able to apply the rules in the heat of the moment. Being removed from the direct pressure of the situation, it's the caddie's job to make sure that happens. In Tiger's own words:

Tiger "admitted the circumstances left him a bit dazed.

"I wasn't even really thinking," Woods said. "I was still a little ticked at what happened, and I was just trying to figure out, 'OK, I need to take some yardage off this shot,' and that's all I was thinking about was trying to make sure I took some yardage off of it, and evidently it was pretty obvious, I didn't drop in the right spot."

So his new caddy technically ducked up, because he should have had the cool head in that situation. That is one of their main jobs.

Therefore, Steve is happy it sticks it in Tiger's piehole.

Oh he made a sh!tload of money of Tiger, no doubt. Steve should be forever grateful to him. But he's also a wanker and is pretty salty Tiger fired him, after Steve stuck with him through the whole sex scandal thing.

I think that number is fiction.

If he's worth $20M, he would have had to have earned well in excess of that and he certainly hasn't.

He's not beyond carrying clubs for a living as that is exactly what he does.

He made an estimated $9,000,000 toting tigers clubs between 1998 and 2011. He also had endorsement deals with valvoline, Duck Bond tape and I believe a couple of others. While he might not have 20mil he sure ain't hurting

.-.
BTW, this is making it's way around the internet today (from Lindsay Vonn's ex husband twitter). Too funny.

From the couch: TV viewer plays rules official in penalizing Tiger...

Masters officials regularly take phone calls from viewers citing rules violations by players.

The funny thing is that the call-in basically saved Tiger's skin. If it weren't for that call-in, there wouldn't have been conflicting rulings that led to the waiver of the DQ.

2 strokes won't help the Tiger.

Jack won a Major at 40. Meara won 2 at 41. Vijay Singh won 2 between ages 37-41. Michelson won 1 at 40. Jack had that nice win at the ripe old age of 46.

Tiger's won one major in 5 years. Like Vijay Tiger will be good enough to make a million every year while keeping his name warm to pimp Nike and Course Design

Exactly what I expected, Tiger is incapable of shooting 67s on tough tracks. He makes too many mistakes, he flails his drives, mid to long range iron game is inconsistent.

Yeah, yeah, he'll never win anything again. Can I quote you on that?

Follow the whole thread and discussion genius. Talk is him @ majors, where he hasn't won one in 5 years and never trailing 54 holes.

Your post back at the start was that you don't expect him to win another major (you did hedge a little bit and say he might win 1 at some point).

I would think it's obvious that I was talking about majors as well. You'd have to be an idiot to think he'd never win any event again.

True, never day never. I would take the field and course over him in everyone from here on out. He could have that great week, but who knows. He just seems to be a nonfactor on the weekends, he struggles for that great round b

He had one truly bad hole this week. I'm not ready to slam the door on him, when he's looked better and better as time goes on because of one awful hole.

I don't like Tiger much, but the never won when down after 54-hole thing is the stupidest stat in sports that has actually gained traction. The Yankees, Celtics and Canadiens have won almost 70 championships, but how many have they won after trailing two games to none? I don't know - and who gives a crap? You win them how you win them. When you go to the "ok, you've won a lot, but now I'm going to nit-pick how you won them" card is when you are admitting you have a lousy hand.

It's like people who complain the Butler game was ugly. I always say the banner in the ceiling is just as pretty as he rest of them.

"I'm just asking the question" is just a cop out.

And I'm pretty sure Chin Diesel thought you were saying he should get an asterisk too.

Alright Mr KNOWALL - thanks for reading my mind - ever hear about a rhetorical open question to set a discussion?
Take the TW tinted glasses off, my son is a Tiger worshipper as well as a scratch golfer himself and his comment is that Tiger has done NOTHING but play golf his whole life so he should know the rules inside out up and down. He employs a professional caddy and pays him in part to know the rules inside and out up and down.
You can take your pretty sure and stuff it - I wasn't speaking in favor for someone named Chin Diesel or stating that I thought or feel an * would be appropriate.
I made a point and Chin Diesel happened to make a comment about my post
