You don't want to hear an opposing view point to yours? That's very liberal and open minded of you

Not wanting to hear someone ranting on a message board about "black vermin" does not make one close-minded. Just sane. No one wants to hear your trash, clown.

You choose a large young black man to be your online persona (AD as your avatar) but you're scared of young black men. Interesting.

Best post in the thread. OP just admitted he'd be afraid of Andre Drummond walking down the street if he didn't know who he was, solely because he's black. (yes, that makes you racist)

its obviously doing wonders for you. bet you always aspired to be a chatroom bully. 3rd grade recess must have been tough on you

You're a moron. Go away. You're going after one of the most respected posters. And guess what. You lose. Go away.

I might be a little afraid of AD if he was walking my way. But that's cause 6'11 270

Once he flashed that big goofy grin, it would be all good.

Respect is earned on a daily basis. If he had shown some, he would have received it in kind. As for the "you're a moron... you lose... go away," you sound like you might be underage so I'm going to respectfully decline talking you.

It's the off season. This is what passes for a "good time" on the BY this time of year- at least they were kind enough t0 get snarky with each other.

We need a commit from a top recruit- then we will have one day of happiness followed by 10 days of breaking down the pros and cons of said recruit and proclaiming him the next KD.

Can we spread out the rest of the 2015-16 classes commitments over a 5 month period? That will get close us to next season.

Espn is running a whole segment right now on cubans comments. None of which were remotely racist. This has to stop. We cant assassinate the character of everyone who says anything that in some minor way can be construed to be some how racist. We have an nfl owner whos received no punishment after taking a bunch of pills getting drunk and getting behind a wheel for christ sake. It cant be the worst thing in the world is a person who may generalize a certain race or ethnicity. Cuban is right if I see a group of young black males on one side of the street im probably going to walk on the other side, same thing with a group of white guys with tattoos. Due to socioeconomic reasons these tends to be the demographics of people who are more likely to committ a crime...is that racist? I think its just more or less playing the percentages...

What I read of Cubans comments were exactly in tune with how I feel about profiling other people. I don't profile by race, but I absolutely profile people on appearance. I will make myself aware of another person I'm approaching on the street if they look desperate or violent regardless of race. I'm sure Cuban's said much much more that could be easily misconstrued as a bit racist, but just wanted to say that bit of his comments I fully agree with.

In my neighborhood most of the junkies that I like to avoid are not minorities, but it is absolutely okay to profile the people you see on the street

Wow, absolutely not true! I mean I'll be honest, the OP was sloppy with his words, but I believe he meant, if he were walking down the street, a group of young white guys with sagged jeans covered in tattoos would generate the same response (him crossing the street) as a group of young black men looking similarly unprofessional.

Hilarious how everyone is taking it as "if I see young black guys, I cross the street" and just running like Forrest Gump with it

We have soccer threads all over these boards. This topic, while presented as OT, is perfectly appropriate for this board.

In that spirit, there is nothing racist or wrong with anything Cuban said. He was being honest. I'm always wary of people who say that they don't see color. The fact that Cuban was forced to apologize to the family of Trayvon Martin due to public pressure is just comical.

What makes you wary of them?

LOL. So people who say they aren't afraid of random black people on the street "don't see color"? So that means "seeing color" means assuming black people are going to hurt you?

I "see color," and when I see someone who is black, I don't assume they're going to attack me.

That's quite the strawman you've created there.

Congratulations, you are not a racist.

They're lying for starters. Trying a bit too hard to make sure everyone knows they're not a racist.
Seeing color is one thing, seeing color and making a sweeping stereotype of everyone of that color is another.

I don't kow, it looks like Andre is wearing a hoodie. Black and a hoodie? Well you know a crime is about to happen.

For the record, I don't think what Cuban said was awful or racist. Given what the new commissioner is dealing with, it is probably bad timing.

I was in Bridgeport once driving, when I needed to turn around, off all places to pull into a driveway to turn around, I pulled into the Hells Angels Clubhouse unknowingly. Immediately a guy comes out the clubhouse door and eyeballs me through the windshield. I say WTF is dude's problem, my (then GF) wife who is from BPT, says "uh this is HA clubhouse." I couldn't reverse out of there fast enough.

I'll admit it, that white guy scared me. I call it safety profiling. When that knockout game was all the rage, I was leery of any group of kids walking together through the mall and ready to toss one over the balcony if my safety depended on it.

Cuban was very clear with his comments. He was not making a sweeping stereotype of an entire race.

Congratulations, you are not a racist.

It's not a strawman, it's the logical conclusion from what you posted. So either you're deflecting or aren't the best at expressing your thoughts through writing.

Let's break it down, shall we:

In that spirit, there is nothing racist or wrong with anything Cuban said. He was being honest.

What Cuban said is that if he sees a black person in a hoodie, he would walk to the other side of the street (implied that this would be out of fear of violence)

You don't see anything racist with saying that a black person in a hoodie is dangerous.

I'm always wary of people who say that they don't see color.

You're wary of people, who, unlike you, do not see "color" in a scenario of someone wearing a hoodie walking down the street.

So again, in conclusion, "seeing color" to you means that you err on the side of black people are violent and want to hurt you.

I have more respect for people who would just come out and say "Yeah, I'm kinda scared of black people"

I didn't suggest he did. I suggested other posters did. That said, it's a far too nuanced discussion to have in short snippets on a message board.

Applying the Cuban logic to this, you are predujiced against white people.
