Espn is running a whole segment right now on cubans comments. None of which were remotely racist. This has to stop. We cant assassinate the character of everyone who says anything that in some minor way can be construed to be some how racist. We have an nfl owner whos received no punishment after taking a bunch of pills getting drunk and getting behind a wheel for christ sake. It cant be the worst thing in the world is a person who may generalize a certain race or ethnicity. Cuban is right if I see a group of young black males on one side of the street im probably going to walk on the other side, same thing with a group of white guys with tattoos. Due to socioeconomic reasons these tends to be the demographics of people who are more likely to committ a crime...is that racist? I think its just more or less playing the percentages...

Cuban is holding his breathe because he is a business man who doesn't want to see he investment devalued. Having the league force a sale of any franchise introduces something tantamount to a call option to the investment, which generally, at least in this case, decreases the investment's value. Although the NBA charter is clear that the forced sale may proceed should such various triggering events occur, owners have valued their franchises based upon the fact that, "its never happened before," similarly to how Fannie and Freddie investments were valued pre Sept. '08. The long and short is simple, a forced sale books a bad, financial valuation wise, precedent against every franchise owner, and thus hurts the business' book value. Cuban didn't become a billionaire by being a dip$hit investor and this forced sale would hurt his investment regardless of the why. As for why he's making these kinds of public comments, who knows, maybe he just can't help himself, but its also probably not the best thing for his investment either.

You choose a large young black man to be your online persona (AD as your avatar) but you're scared of young black men. Interesting.

It's called the Boneyard guy but it's not that kind of site. If you want to solicit s e x from guys online try Grindr or something.
I take it you're BigErn on Grindr too? I'm giving aceboon b/c he clicks onto a thread and immediately starts w/ unwarranted and unnecessary, if not simply insulting posts. For all he, or I, or anybody knows UcannUconn is some middle school kid somewhere, killing time and he gets some attacking him probably for no good reason other than boredom. If you guys don't want this stuff here, and prefer it on cesspool, great, np. But maybe treating other members w/ a bit more respect than "nobody wants to read either one of your viewpoints" would be a bit more conducive to an interesting and enjoyable board. I break balls on this board all the time, but I try and handle it w/ a little more wit or tact than the quote above. That said, if someone is going to try and be the bully, I'm more than capable of replying in-kind.

yes, telling someone to post content that is relegated to the cesspool is bullying. like I said, that mousepad giving you alot of courage right now, I don't know where you're from, but telling someone to suck their (blank) in real life usually ends up a certain way. its all good tho cuz you online and living out your fantasy of being a mousepad mobster so I'll let you be.

Im from CT, probably just like you. And it ends up the same way as when some random strolls up to you at a bar and tells you to move along, your viewpoint is garbage. If you didn't intend for it to come off that way, great, my bad, but that's how it read. Currently I live 3000 miles away, and Im not interested in an actual message board fight so I'll take my 2 cents and hit the road.

I think you and I have different definitions of "witch hunt". Sure, maybe one or two people have come out and slammed Cuban for his comments, but for the most part, I don't see anybody condemning him or using what he said as anything other than a lynch-pin for dialogue. ESPN is talking about it because it is important discussion, and, by making the comments in the first place (on record), Cuban was inviting that sort of thing. So I think it would be best to drop the notion that Cubn is somehow a victim here.

Secondly, his comments, in isolation, weren't overly offensive (at least not to me, I can't speak for the black community), but they were definitely problematic, especially in light of the Trayvon Martin tragedy. It seems to me that a lot of white people are trying to use fear as means of justifying their prejudices rather than confronting their bigotry head on. You're obviously not on the same level as South Tampa Bill with your racism (in fact, you're probably in the majority), so I think your post at least dignifies a response and discussion. But, with that being said, if all it takes to instill fear in you is a black kid walking down the street with a hood on, then I think it might be time to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself why that is (hint: the problem is with you, not "socioeconomics", or whatever crutch you're trying to use).

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread.
Honestly, I did think maybe there would be some interesting links to articles from ESPN or something talking about a racist witch hunt, or at least something giving both sides. Instead, this is what I got so far...

"Here's my opinion"
"You're a d*ck"
"Yeah? well you're a bigger d*ck"
"No, I HAVE a bigger d*ck"
"Oh yeah? Well why don't you get on your knees and suck my d*ck"
"Well my mom could beat up your mom if they were the same age and in 3rd grade"

I am now 10% dumber from reading this thread...
