No, I don't know what position he would play. He's not fast enough to play RB
He's a tough kid though, not as big as Ben but very hard to bring down. UConn's definitely interested but not sure if on offense or defense. The SWC has some great teams this year, Newtown, Brookfield, and Bunnell. Brookfield's best player, Chris Comizio, has been out hurt three weeks now.

Is he playing defense at Newtown? I just went to look at his stats and he's not listed on D. He was good but not great the last couple years

I'm assuming you haven't watched Henderson in person yet if you don't think he's their best player lol

Of course I've watched Henderson their best running back, as well as Mix and McVey, but Comizio is their best all around player.

What ever happened to Staples? I don't follow HS sports that closely any more as my kids are now out of college. Staples seems to have disappeared.

Their coach left for Trumbull this year so they have a new coach. They've had a rough last couple years by their standards

Comizio is a great player but in terms of importance to the team, he's not more important than Henderson. They're not sitting at 5-1 without him.

Well you may be right but with Comizio out the past three weeks they have not been the same team.

He played no defensive snaps this past Friday night from my eyes.

Yeah I did think so but I wasnt positive. I have a hard time believing we'd be recruiting him for defense if he doesn't play defense but what do I know lol

Newtown has more good players on defense right now than they know what to do with, that's the only reason why Mason isn't on the defensive side. Unlike his brother who played both sides. If the kid wants to play D1 ball it would be on defense or possibly a slot back on offense, I can see UConn offering him for his toughness and athleticism, much like Rose was recruited. When Rose enrolled the coaches thought about olb and te, not QB which is what he starred at in HS. Keyion Dixon was a QB and DB in HS.

Why wouldnt uconn recruit/offer the more good players on Newtowns D then?

Dan is a really good high school player but I don't see him as a D1 FB player.

Maybe PWO.

Maybe because they might be underclassmen? UConn would be interested in some of them. Edsall likes to talk about finding a diamond in the rough, but according to you Mason is not even that? FWIW Mason isn't playing defense now but his career stats on D are pretty good.

Yes. According to me he is not a diamond in the rough but I have been wrong in my life. And you can recruit underclassmen for the future.

I can't even find Dan on a recruiting site and his D stats I found the past two years weren't that impressive as I havent seen him play D this year. Pedestrian actually.

If he does come I will cheer for him like I do for every UConn player.

For a guy that plays only offense, 3.2 tackles per game seems pretty good to me.

Those are his sophomore/Jr year numbers. If you're not dominant as a junior in Connecticut you're probably not a D1 player unless you have a crazy growth spurt

Wow. It woudl be a smart though to do; but, combining two relatively struggling districts and all of the history and bad blood between the people and the schools will be hard to overcome. What would not be surprising is that the end result is two separate school districts that share back-office functions (HR, accounting, purchasing, maintenance, transportation, etc.)

Newtown should be at least 2 or 3 spots higher, they could beat Shelton or Southington, not sure about St Joe's or Hand, but the real unknown is Naugatuck, anyone see them play yet?

Naugy has a lot of football tradition; but, they are are a large school (L) playing in a conference filled primarily with M and S teams. To date, their closest win was 14-0 over a 5-2 Wolcott (M) team. Their schedule is also back-loaded with 1 team with a winning record (Wolcott) and 6 who have a combined 12 wins. Their final 3 games having winning records - Seymour (S) 6-1, Holy Cross (S) 5-2, Ansonia (S) 7-0. If the Greyhounds beat Ansonia on Turkey Day (one of the great Thanksgiving Day rivalries), then they are legit. Otherwise, overrated.

There are some really big games this weekend. Berlin/Bloomfield. East Hartford/New Britain. Brookfield/Newtown. Hopefully the weather cooperates

Gonna be some changes to the bottom of the Gametime Poll w/ Berlin thumping Bloomfield and New Britain crushing East Hartford.
