OT: Rock and Roll lead singers

Not Necessarily the News...?

YES! That is it. And his word things were called "sniglets". I think he even did some SNL too back 30-35 years ago.

Thanks!

Edited to fix autocorrect.

Storrsroars is hot taking all over this thread.

There are married, employed, voting adults here who cited racist misogynist Axl Rose as their choice of a top frontman and you want to hang me for hot takes? lulz

I can understand your enjoyment of ABBA. Some really great pop tunes there. But Color My World? What, I'm supposed to be awed by an opening major 7th chord? It is truly a POS song to be consumed by 13-18 year old girls.

Besides, this whole thread is opinion. There are few if any facts here. I'll leave you with this hot take: This thread now exists in perpetuity to showcase the lack of musical taste of UConn alumni.

Yep Junior Prom song '76 end of the night. Stairway to Heaven Sr prom '77, guessing so many were the same.

Kath was unbelievable and I agree so very much unappreciated. If he was to be in a hard rock band there would have been a much higher impact of his skills but even with Chicago especially early it's so easy to see and hear how amazing he was. I was one at the time who under appreciated how damn good he was, and I liked Chicago.

The bridge years before "Wonderful Tonight" and "We've Got Tonight".

Chicago was just a poor, lame man's Blood Sweat and Tears.
More soul, better musicians, better lead singer.

The dialogue is making me want to argue. I actually do like Chicago (except for Colour My World)
You must be young enough that you missed getting that burned into your brain a million times. So slow. So sappy.

If he hasn't been mentioned, Buddy Holley should be.
Had about as much to do with the creation of rock and roll as any white guy.

I actually liked BS&T better with Al Kooper & Randy Brecker. I found DCT tried to overpower songs - kind of guy you'd see on American Idol these days. Would've been interesting to see what BS&T would've sounded like if they hired Alex Chilton, like several of the band wanted.

Chicago was great for first two, three albums.

They have toured together recently.

This x 1 googleplex.

Bringing up BS&T makes me wonder why Tower of Power could not sustain a higher level of success.

Al Kooper, interesting read...his fingerprints are all over the Rock and Roll History Books.

You could take any of Chicago's first 4 or so albums and there are more timeless songs on a single album than blood sweat and tears wrote in a career.

And no one in blood sweat and tears is even in the same talent hemisphere as Terry Kath ( in fairness few are) .

And I LIKE. Blood sweat and tears

Child is Father to the Man (?). Awesome. Agree about DCT but there were songs where I loved it.

My opinions are entirely my opinions and I don't believe in an established idea of cool that everyone must abide in.
So even if someone thinks Arby's is good, I wouldn't call it a hot take.

Love Arby's.

What's your favorite thing on the menu?

Did you get the part where I said I felt like fighting?
My tone was a joke.

Are you the offspring of Mrs Arby and Terry Kath?

They have to be kidding, right?

Starting at 2:55 is maybe my favorite guitar solo ever...
