The Jesse James play in Pittsburgh a few years ago comes to mind. Gifted the Patriots home field and a cakewalk to the Super Bowl.

What about the Philly Special? They lined up in an illegal formation (the NFL admitted it) and should have been a penalty instead of a touchdown. Turned out to be absolutely huge in a shootout.

I could name a bunch, but nobody actually cares here.

This thread is hilarious, the same people who constantly whine about Duke getting every call are pretending it doesn't exist with the Patriots and instead the Patriots are treated unfairly by refs. This is the team who is routinely called for less penalties than everyone else and benefits with first downs more than any other team from opponent penalties. This is a team who has been running pick plays for a decade and a half. Can't make this s*** up if you tried.

No mentally stable adult roots for more than one NFL team.
If you are going there with any degree of seriousness adults simply can't root for sports teams. My opinion is that it is supposed to be fun, so maybe adults shouldn't be too concerned with or making up rules regarding sports rooting interests.

Belichick is a disciplinarian. There's a reason the Patriots commit less penalties than everyone else. It's called coaching. It's been that way since BEFORE they were winning. The team that holds the record for least penalized in the NFL is Don Shula's Dolphins, and Shula happens to be ahead of Belichick in the wins department. These things correlate.

??? grew up in and around Philly. Started going to Schaeffer Stadium games as a guest of a co worker after moving to CT.
Don't feel the need to defend your rooting interests.

But if replay takes the pressure off the refs, they should then defer to replay, and you do that by not whistling the play dead if there's a fumble, or ruling it a TD so that replay can decide if it is one or not.

As soon as those refs were conferring on whether or not he was in bounds, and it was taking so much time to figure out if either saw it, the default should be to go with TD because of replay. It's a luxury they have.
I agree. Just saying that the NFL's implementation is a half assed effort to get it right and it has caused more problems than it has solved.

Putting "New York" in charge of replay has hurt the process, IMO.

The only people who discuss this team more than Pats fans, are the fans of other teams. It's clock work. Truly rent free living. It's the 'soccer sucks' crowd of the NFL.

And it's music to my ears. Nothing warms the cold cockles of this dark heart more than the bleating of the opposition.

It's like it's the first time you ever watched a football game.

The chains are on the other side of the field. The markers on the other side don't correlate exactly and they're often moved after the fact. A chain link is pinned at the spot of the ball. Amazing. And the same poster that put that up showed that the refs are in cahoots with the Patriots because Brady asked for a reset of the 25 second clock, and they did it on command!!

Well, it is possible to acknowledge the Pats got screwed while loving every second of it.

Refs also missed an obvious late hit on Mahomes if the Chiefs did that to Brady the guy would be suspended. If Kelce wasnt an idiot and just held the ball instead of going backwards after getting the 1st down and fumbled in the process the game is over, and none of this is a discussion. Pats also had it 1st and goal twice in the 4th and couldn't convert.
Ummm.....they didn't have to convert....they had a touchdown....and then they didn't. And then they had to rush on the field after it wasn't a touchdown. What's your point?

Patriots get an insane number of calls and any Pats fan complaining about it should be shot.

But yesterday wasn’t one of them.

The NFL has a huge issue with their officiating right now - games are being decided by bad calls on a regular basis.

Diana Russini might want to ask herself what are the green dots on the back of the helmet of the middle linebackers? The answer to that question will educate her when it comes to her inane tweets.

The 1st and 10 starts at the 15 yard line. They gain 4 yards and it is 2nd and 6 at the 11 yard line. The first down marker is then moved to the 4 yard line making it 2nd and 7. The ball was never moved up a yard.

So when did first downs become 1st and 11 rather than 1st and 10

Sure, that's the official line. And they really could be filming the scout for 'Do Your Job.'

And also filming the Bengals' sideline signals. If you were going to cheat and be smart, that's how you'd do it.

Why would they bother?
