@ReggieRankin: "I got along great with the Oregon players and coach Dana Altman. It was the best fit for me" Ray Kasongo
Oh dear lord. We just got our answer on who really picked Oregon.

To be fair, I'm not on Twitter. Did Altman follow him like 74 times today?

It was only a day ago that he was referring to Altman as "their basketball coach." Russell must have given him some flash cards for his interviews.

Good lord, we're getting whipped like a rented mule on the recruiting trail.

Ollie needs to hire a recruiter in the worst way - ten toes in is great but those ten toes have to be talented or this s---will go off the rails fast.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I know a lot of people are gonna go on and on about how we already have "two 5 star" commits, etc. etc., but fact is Purvis was really a win from last year and Hamilton was 5 months ago now. Fact is, we've gotten our a$$es kicked the last few months. I've never seen a recruiting season where we've been in the top 5/10 for so many guys and strike out so many times. If we can close Robinson, I'll shut up, but it's been an awfully disappointing recruiting season so far.

I'm still trying to figure out the sky is falling posts.

We lost Abu to NC State, fair enough.

I still can't figure who we lost to PC because it wasn't Kris Dunn. We had no scholarship for him. We didn't even have a scholly for Andre Drummond.

Kasongo was ours to lose and he made that quite obvious publicly. We then signed Lubin. We probably muddied the water there. Lubin is a physical freak.

We do need a great recruiter on staff. I've felt that for years now. We haven't had one in so long I can't remember who our last one was. However, I love the 3 guys we have and we aren't done yet.

The sad thing is we aren't even losing these kids to monsters. PC? NC State? Oregon? VCU?

It's not even the blue bloods that are beating us.
I agree, it's the caliber of the programs we're losing guys to that is making this so troubling. Then we get so excited about landing off the radar kids nobody had even heard of.

I feel like awfully dissapointing would be if we only landed Lubin and that's it. I don't get the logic of not counting hamilton. but I guess this is recruiting , every time we miss on someone there'll be doubt places on Ollie's abilities.

Who knows what Lubin will be...but remember he was listed as the no. 58 recruit in his class of last year. He got hurt. Lets see what he turns out to be this year as a senior before we completely write him off. Get Cassell and Robinson and suddenly this is a great class.

I guess my question is who does Dana Altman have that recruits better than our staff? Phil Knight/Nike?

Mr Russell has some Fishy stuff happening from what I see..........but we lost a pretty good one but have a keeper already in Rakim, let's not forget that!

Ray made a mistake but he's not the only one this year........guess it's fun to come in the 3rd in the PAC12

I say no big deal. We have Facey and Lubin at power forward. We are all set. Also DD could return. Robinson and Cassell are much more important. We shouldn't commit to more than 4 players before spring. Who knows if DD and Boat are coming back. Also we will need two ships for 2015. Also every year good players are found in the spring. Ray is not a loss.

There is no response that is more generic than this. At least we know the kid can read stuff that's given to him. Feel for him a bit, but he's ultimately the won who made the decision and the one who was trying to hit on KO this week.
Just bizarre.

Seriously WTF is going on? He is friending Ollie on twitter yesterday, retweeting UConn stuff non stop. We have insider posters saying everything is pointing to him going to UConn, there is an article earlier today where Kasongo says he is heavily leaning towards UConn. Is Nike money being funneled to Ro Russel? There should be absolutely no reason to choose Oregon over UConn, reminds me of Purvis and many others, this will not work out for Kasongo. Feel badly for the kid but he should have listened to his heart not outside influences.

What the hell is Phase1 Academy anyway? http://pointstreaksites.com/view/phase1academy/home-page-313

Are you kidding me? This is the sort of school that got Ro Russell and Xavier Rathan-Mayes in trouble in the first place.

Three years ago PHASE 1 launched our first Academy in Toronto, Ontario. Despite tremendous efforts to grow the program for Canadian athletes, it became very clear PHASE 1 Academy had to move south of the border. Top Canadian basketball players wanted to be in United States to maximum their exposure to NCAA scholarships and future professional careers. In order to better serve the growing number of migrating Canadian student athletes and offer PHASE 1's proven training system to a more aspiring athletes, the decision was made to move PHASE 1 Academy to Phoenix, Arizona. PHASE 1 Basketball Academy (P1A) and its Teams is our most comprehensive program for male & female athletes. We field teams from grade 9 to adults. P1A is a year-round development program for competitive players. Our team of professional coaches and staff create the best possible environment for the development of an intermediate player to their full potential.

What kind of mindless illiterate has the Canadian school system unleashed on unsuspecting Americans in the Cactus state?

Are they serious? How is this NOT going to end up in a XRM scenario? When I read caw's earlier post today about Phase1, alarm bells went off.

I guess he likes clouds and rain six days out of seven. Why are we on so many final lists lately but never get picked? We seem to follow the blind dart thrower approach to recruiting. Throw as many darts as you can and eventually one will hit the bullseye.
