OT - Hamidou Diallo testing Draft Waters

They interviewed Cal; it's incredibly hard not to like the guy as a person. He's funny, honest and seems to really want the kids to excel.

They interviewed Bob Myers (GSW GM), they are into standing reach and wingspan. The NBA is huge into the deflection stat.

It's a much smaller scale than the NFL, but incredibly cool seeing Magic, LarryLegend and the Logo in the same spot

He's a BS er and sleezebag! I do like it though when he criticizes the NCAA - yet they don't seem to have a problem with one and done institutionalized at a school and with Diallo they take it a step further.

Have been to Louisville several times, has some good spots

Have heard Lexington is a gem of a little city from several people

KY probably has less teeth per person per capita and more cousins dating cousins but no way is it in a financial mess like CT

@JSM1970 I have the pefect solution for you- Move to Kentucky! It will get you out of CT plus you can root for UK and your boy Cal.

I was in Lousiville recently had fun. Its OK.

But rethink your last statement.

Kentucky, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut rank in the bottom five states, largely owing to the low amounts of cash they have on hand and their large debt obligations.

With all the wealth and high taxes in this state and it's still a mess. I'd been a lifelong Dem but a few years ago I declared as an independent and during the last governors election it was the first time I didn't vote for the Dem. The mess has finally trickled down to UConn recruiting

And the self perpetuating social media hype machine keeps on trucking.

How Calipari largely gets a pass from the media on his past transgressions is beyond me. It's annoying. People still talk about the (joke of a) stain on JC's legacy.

Because Calhoun wasn't making the "media" rich with a recruiting gimmick that boils everything down to stars and rankings so that the simpletons watching ESPN in the break room have something to chat about.

Also cause JC tore many media members new ones throughout the years. To our delight and amusement.

When you have so many people densely packed together like this, your infrastructure needs are massive. It's the NYC effect.

Remember, Conn. had no income tax until the mid 1990s, and it was doing just fine back then with the exception of the cities. But Fairfield Cty. didn't look like today's Fairfield Cty. either. The change are massive, the traffic excruciating. Look at Stamford. That stuff required a lot of taxpayer dollars, and it has happened within the span of a decade and a half. It's like complaining about NYC. Yes, the place is unlivable. And, if you ask me, it's no longer a very interesting place. Is it a mess? You can say that. Is there a ton of wasted $$? Yes too. But then why are high income/high value people still living there? That's what needs to be answered about a place like Connecticut. If it's such a mess, why do all these rich people live there?

Financial Markets for one. Two cache; rich people don't care if something sucks as long as it costs a lot and other people want it. Three, there is still quite a bit of interesting stuff to do there. and so on and so on

If anyone wants to feel better about not landing Hamidou, the other day at the combine HD was asked how he felt about his vertical jump record-breaking numbers, and he responded saying he (18 years old) "was proud to beat his childhood hero's vertical jump numbers... [of 22 year old] Andrew Wiggins"...

LMAO!!!!! Kid would have probably gotten us an APR ban if he came here and not Kentucky.

Idk man we keep trying to sell guards on being the next Shabazz who was in college around the same time. Kids are probably more into college basketball as highschoolers than toddlers. Makes some sense

No, the kids we are reaching for are more into the NBA draft lottery 30 minute annually televised event than they are about the sport of basketball altogether.

You just can't let the media impact your actions.

Yup. The casual fan would be surprised with how many recruits are actually not college basketball junkies.
I barely watched sports while I was playing them. There's no time between practice, regular season games, weekend tournaments, etc.

Wandered into this thread out of boredom and curiosity as to what could sustain it. Answered: lots of Ignored folks rattling the barrel. Yes, I've peeked.

Nevertheless, I'm wondering where you ate, drank, and played in Louisville. I like it.
