He may have realized he was destined to be a backup to Cam Johnson or someone else next year at Kentucky, and would rather be in the D-League getting paid.

I don't blame him.

He's done all he can do basketball-wise in college and he is probably close to having 12 credits towards his degree. He can polish off the other 108 over the summer.

Nothing left to accomplish, but to go pro.

He did take them far into the tournament after he committed. When you accomplished best practice player twice during the season no one can question you leaving.

He deserves every ounce of salt he gets from UConn fans. The game he played with us was dirty
He didn't play a game, we got out recruited. But you can be salty if you want.

His dream is playing in the NBA, getting paid 20K to play in the D-League would be the worst possible plan to fulfill his dream.

Eh, there's a real chance he spent more time in our facilities than in theirs. He was playing games.

D League pay scale increases to 50-75k next year, along with 2 extra "two-way" player roster spots.

I know they've been talking about it but never heard Silver passed it. It's still chump change and the worst way to make the league. Kid needs top level college coaching/playing and to develop a jump shot, right now he's just an elite athlete.

this was clearly the plan all along which is why it made sense for him to go to UK. 1. we didnt even have 10 guys to scrimmage with in practice. 2. he didnt have to expose himself at all

No it got passed when the CBA passed in late December/early January. DeMar Derozan shot 17% from 3 at USC, and has never shot over 30% in the NBA and he's already like 26/27. 3x all-star and plays for Team USA. At best this kid is DeMar at worst he is Gerald Green/Shannon Brown. The D league would be a great option for him if his only goal is to make the NBA. More guys making the league from it than ever. And who knows someone could take a flyer on him in the first and then he's got guaranteed money.
