It's very unfortunate for this kid that he made it through 17 or so years of his life being such a ridiculously big cooch and nobody did him the fine service of planting a tight right cross on his jaw to teach him some respect, perspective, and restraint.

I'm being completely serious.

Superb use of the word "cooch."

People tried to step in a few times. It's not like every person just had a camera out. Plus, it's a good thing for at least one person to record stuff, because eyewitnesses are terrible at remembering accurately.

I don't know, I kind of feel bad for the kid. 19 years old and seems to have an alcohol problem, which has directly resulted in him being kicked out of one school and likely soon to be another. Hope he finds and gets the help he needs.

It is hard to feel sorry for such a , but yeah as a human being you have the right of it, TCF. Everyone makes mistakes.

And please let me echo another sentiment I saw in this thread: Thank the ever loving lord cell cameras and social media were not around in my college days. While I never acted specifically like this kid I certainly did a ton of stuff Im not proud of in retrospect and Im glad photo/video and social media thoughts weren't there to capture them.

My 20 year old son just explained the difference in their thought process vs what we had 30-35 years ago. They know there's people video'ing this all over the place so it's just not worth it any more to step in and bring issues upon yourself. really sucks

Example: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...e-punches-high-school-bully-article-1.2372895

One kid is bullying/punching a blind kid at school. Another kid steps in, does the right thing, hits the bully in the face. Great, right? Protecting a defenseless blind classmate? Well, the kid who stepped up and did something got kicked off the football team for it, he breached their "zero tolerance" policy on violence. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...en-school-bully-suspended.html#ixzz3mlC1G4hG ). That's a prime example of why I think kids are scared to act in these situations.

I do commend the restraint the staff showed. It just blows they even had to in the first place.

Thanks August for putting it in some sort of perspective. I did some things (still do?) which would have gone viral but not in the same douchey manner. I mean I wasn't putting people down for what they do for a livelihood or calling them a "fn tool" etc etc.......If he was just drunk and stupid it would have been somewhat ok but he stepped way over the line of drunk n'douchey during this video!

It's stuff like this that makes me believe America has lost it's way, you should never be punished for doing the right thing.

He clearly is asking for everything that comes his way school discipline wise. But does any college age kid deserve the ridicule and scorn from a whole country that he is about to receive? He definitely is a tool - check . He was disrespectful and out of bounds - check.

He is quickly going to have his life ruined by this though. I mean ruined. I dunno if the subsequent national punishment of piling on is going to fit the crime (no matter how obnoxious the kid was......and he wins an award for that).

If you read additional articles, the kid was not playing football this year so the "kicked off the team" part is erroneous. Still, major props to the kid for taking the bully down.

Jon Ronson wrote a book about that. Yeah, the viral outrage is usually too much, but it's hard to find a happy medium.

Deserve has little to do with the reality of the situation. Most kids have had the talk about reality media and understand that privacy doesn't exist anymore.

I should add though that this kid was arrested before and he yelled at a cop and there were news reports about it. The fear of that previous incident being highlighted in the future should have been enough to prevent him forever from ever again getting into trouble.

It wasn't enough apparently.

So, we're either talking drinking problem or intelligence problem. One or the other.

Just the post-script on that story, the kid (who laid out the bully) wasn't disciplined by the school after all.
That's good to hear, glad the school had the sense to do the right thing.

I think the bigger issue for this kid is that if he doesn't get his ___ together he's going to eventually pop off to the wrong person. Which probably wouldn't be the worst thing for him.

Meh, in today's world, with the right agent, this kid could quickly parlay this into a nice paycheck by becoming a pitchman for some place like S'MAC.

"I know a thing or two about killer mac and cheese. Hell, I was willing to make an ass of myself and get arrested for it. And I'm telling you that S'MAC is so good, it's criminal. Take it from me--I know."

The outrage can be a little much but this guy deserves everything that's coming to him. He is going to be publicly shamed and deal with embarassment for a while but his life will be far from ruined. His life would maybe be ruined if he actually got sent to jail like many young people who act out like he has would have to face. This kid has now assaulted a police officer, called another officer the N word, said all sorts of horrible things to this manager before assaulting and spitting on him. Public shaming and embarrassment seems like a fairly light punishment.

I agree... to me, he will face reasonable backlash for his actions. His actions were accurately recorded and not edited in any way, so really he opened himself up to ridicule and hopefully that intense ridicule will teach him that the way he acts isn't tolerable. At least that it's only tolerable if you have millions and can pay people enough to let you treat them that way.

The internet backlash can be bad, but at least its a little more concrete evidence of the fact that he's a scumbag than say 1 tweet out of context getting him fired from a career type position.

This is a crossroads moment for this kid. If this was his first problem, I'd feel a bit worse, but he clearly has problems and not just alcohol abuse. If he's a , then he'll keep being one and I have no issue with him getting publicly ridiculed. If, however, he's a good kid that has alcohol and emotional issues he'll get help (which I'm sure he has the means for), he'll make very public apologies and all of this goes away. If his parents have the money that I assume they do (they sent him to ski boarding school), they'll get some PR consulting (scooping mac and cheese at homeless shelters and scrubbing dishes at the Union) and this kid will become a hero for turning his life around. The social media cross hairs go both ways.

I didn't know the word either but here's the definition according to urban dictionary:

doxed
Having your real personal information (e.g. name, address, phone number) discovered and revealed on the Internet, destroying anonymity
This pissed off so many people that the guy behind it was doxed, and will probably get what's coming to him

Thank You. Very Helpful.

This kid DESERVES to get DOXED!
