OMG, Sean, he's got you here. You deny that you posted this challenge, then, you are proven wrong. Just like you call me a liar because I said there was a "thread" critical of Ollie and his divorce. Well, it wasn't thread just on Ollie's divorce. But, in that thread that attempts to rip UConn on anything imaginable for satisfaction for PC fans, Ollie's divorce was painted in a negative light buy many PC "charmers" in that thread
It's not worth it, to me, to look that thread up. But, others, here, saw it. It seems you like to deny matters that suit yourself, rather than the truth.
BTW, I noticed your starting that thread on" CT's native son." My best advice is if you wish to rub our noses in a CT kid playing for PC, you should actually send a film clip of a game in which PC actually wins the damned game!!
Finally, PC owes UConn on 3 different occasions.
First, years ago, Austin Croshire committed to UConn. His commitment was to Howie Dickenmann, then an assistant. Calhoun was out of town at that time. When JC came back he told Croshire he couldn't accept his commitment as he was holding it for Kirk King. King was a nice player, but Croshire led PC to the E-8. Big mistake.
Second, Ryan Gomes AAU coach begged Welch to take him. UConn took Caron Butler, who guided UConn to the E-8. Gomes was instrumental in a couple of wins over UConn (famous incident with JC & Solomon of NH Register) but, UConn won it all that year. Gomes never had an NCAA tourney win at PC.
Third UConn didn't have an available scolie for Kris Dunn. Final scolie given to Omar Calhoun. Dunn is having a great year. But, it probably will be his only year with you guys as he's moved into the 1st round of any potential draft. We'll get 4 years out of Omar. You'll get 1 great year out of Dunn. Let's call this a draw.
Comparing Chuckwu to Brima, right now, is no contest. We win. We'll see what the future brings between these two.
But, right now, you owe us.

It's Welsh. You are correct on the above, I do not agree on Dunn however. You will never convince me unless I hear it from Dunn that he would have chosen UConn over PC. BTW, congrats on the win last night. Rebounding and defense looked like UConn normally looks. What was up with all the empty seats? I was a bit surprised with the number one team in the AAC in town. This is not a slam, I'm curious. We struggle with student attendance sometimes too. Kids are different these days I guess.

XL center on weekday night is the best guess on a weekday night Tulsa doesn't have the same name value imo as old BE teams or even SMU,Memphis ,temple or Cincy.

In regards to this topic, PC had much higher ratings on the ESPN channels when we lucky enough to be on them. It's mostly an FS1 thing. Ratings for most BE games are higher then when FS1 shows the Pac 12

Regarding Dunn, I say with confidence he would've chosen UConn over PC if offered. If you remember, Dunn & are Drummond were best buddies. Drummond was leaving St. Thomas Moore to attend Wilbraham. Dunn was leaving New London high to join him.
That all changed when Drummond announced he would attend UConn. Drummond had to pay his way. Dunn decided to go back to NL High and complete his senior year. Both would've attended UConn. Dunn if scholie existed for him. No way Drummond was going to PC.
Not to sound like a snot, but few CT kids will bypass their home state U for PC. These are no longer the days of Johnnie Egan and Soup Campbell. Only exception is Chuckwu who went to Fairfield Prep. No Athlete from that school gets away from the Catholic schools. He never even set foot on campus. A big football OL, UConn desperately could have used this year, from that school is headed to BC in the fall. A lot of Catholic High schools in the northeast do the same for Catholic colleges.
Regarding last night's attendance, the game should've been at Gample. Tulsa is not Syracuse etc. But, the big donors need to be satisfied, and UConn does a lousy job of getting the students from Storrs to Hartford.

I won't go as far as saying Dunn definitely would have chosen UConn but he definitely didn't choose PC over UConn. Let's just kill that notion, UConn wasn't an option bc UConn got the guy they wanted in Calhoun.

PC and Cooley have really benefitted from UConns sanctions, in terms of recruiting, though that hasn't completely transitioned to on the court product.

Guys PC got partially because of the turmoil at UConn:
Dunn - love his game but he's only had on injury free season and it's not like UConn missed his the past two years.
Ledo - well not sure he ever had a serious offer from UConn and well...
Austin - rapist x 2, yeah...thanks for getting him
Chukwu look at his final two and you can see the influence (Catholic). Solid get though not Thabeet yet and not close to Brimah.

The 2015 guys both schools have gone after UConn has gotten: Adams and Enoch.

Combo of smack talk and trolling. sean and friar get pleasure out of coming here and some of the UConn guys get pleasure at ridiculing them and Providence. In the overall picture of nasty world events or even nasty UConn events this is way down the list. Not worth getting upset imo. I enter these threads with my bucket of popcorn. Cheap entertainment if you ask me.

I don't know if there is truly a need for more proof to show that FS1 still needs to develop and grow before it becomes a legitimate competitior to ESPN... but we all knew this... but there almost seems a need to rub it in the face as if you discovered something new.

ESPN is the giant, and the little boys are competing to make things more interesting.

I do not understand how Connecticut fans do not sympathize with the efforts by secondary sports channels like CBSSN, NBCSN, FS1/2 to compete against this Giant. Competition is only good for college basketball. The less influence that ESPN has in the college basketball landscape, the better for all of us. Do you really want ESPN to continue destroying college basketball and to pick and choose which programs will survives and which one will die under their shadow?

ESPN has clearly chosen that it will do anything to protect Power 5 Football... and guess what... we are not even part of it. So our best bet is to go against this stupid establishment instead of playing along...

I protest against ESPN every day. I pretty much quit watching Sport Center and only watch Connecticut games on the ESPN networks. I watch Fox Sports Live to get my highlights or CBS Sports Network. F#K ESPN... They have done too much harm to the Connecticut brand and to everything that we've loved (Big East basketball and football_

No network should have such massive power to control the college landscape... they only do more harm than good

I watch the champions league games on all the fsn channels and they do a good job advertising for the big east. I think what the big east needs to draw the ratings is for the teams to get good players and for the big name schools (gtown, nova,st johns) to start dominating OOC and in conference like they did in the old big east.

The Big East dominated its OOC schedule, that's why is up there in the RPI. It has almost a .760 WPCT which is right on par with the old Big East... They also have great players... Its not about that

Don't you realize that it IS ESPN that creates the hype around players and teams. They have the power to build a brand or to destroy it by simply not talking about it and ignoring it. Whatever ESPN says everyone else follows. The current Big East has a ton of great players of top tier quality... but Fox Sports 1 doesn't have the market and influence to draw attention to them. Doug McDermott was lucky last year that he had some hype around him.

You can definitely build some hype around these players if you had the influence, which Fox Sports does not.... and ESPN has no interests in hyping a competitors property.

PC just re-upped a series with UMass, they already have BC and URI in long term deals. Do you think Ollie would do a Mohegan Sun game?

I do not think it is at the top of the list to get done.

We have home and homes with Arizona, Georgetown and Ohio State coming up and they are trying to renew the Florida one.

We are at Texas also next year, and in the Battle for Atlantis which is loaded.

Beyond this the focus has been getting Nova, Cuse or St. Johns to do series, or in the case of Cuse and St. John neutrals at the Garden.

Maybe I am wrong but I think a neutral or a home/neutral series at the Garden would peak their interest more than a game at Mohegan.

Providence would be better for our RPI than Coppin State, I'll say that much.

Me thinks some of these dudes that are razzing the PC guys understand your point. It's just more fun for them to razz one another.

On the serious note the best thing for UConn is the development of other sports networks. At the least there will be more bidding when the AAC contract comes up for renewal (assuming some positive things happen for the conference) and there would be an increased chance the "Giant" would try to influence other conferences to poach some AAC members and UConn is still attractive imo.

Ollie mentioned PC as a possible future opponent at a press conference, regarding possible future opponents, a few months ago. Georgetown is scheduled over the next two seasons. Plus, Jay Wright mentioned a UConn-Nova series was in the works.
I doubt UConn would schedule more than 1 Big East team in a particular season. Therefore, should a UConn-PC series take place, it won't be for at least 4-5 years.
As far as Mohegan Sun, the men haven't played there yet. I don't think the men desire to play there. If a UConn-PC series took place, my guess is the games would be in Hartford & Providence. Both arenas have larger capacities than Mohegan.

Seems like a bit of an overkill on the New England schools, no? URI is a program on the rise, but I'd want no part of playing BC or UMass if I were PC. I would think with this recent surge, they should be able to schedule nationally moving forward.

Don't know that there would be much in it for UCONN. BC/ UCONN relationship is not the best.
 
I wish this thread would end really sick of hearing how some of the least east; NBE; or C7 are doing . Record wise or how many eyeballs are watching. That conference is dead to me.
