These two won't make anyone else's list, but they're the two live recordings I go back to way more than any others:
1. Come Up Screaming, Big Country
1a. Live In the Air Age, Be Bop Deluxe
So I checked out “Be Bop Deluxe”.. very interesting.. took me a little bit, but it grew on me. Not sure how to define it though or what to compare it to.... but thank you for the enlightenment

Phish, any show from 1998. Hard to pick a favorite. More recently Phish Mangaball (2015)

Back in the day there were some comparisons to Bowie, but BBD were pretty unique. Just when BBD was sniffing commercial success, Nelson disbanded it and started Red Noise in 1978, which did one album that foreshadowed a lot of 80s electronica and new wave. And after that he went into a ton of experimental stuff, releasing 100+ albums. Nelson never really got along with the music industry and went his own way through his own label and distribution long before doing that was a thing.

98 wasn't as good as the cow phunk of the fall of 97 shows. 94 on the other hand, pure machine gun Trey. Magnamball was great, highlight being the 35+minute Caspian.

Jerry Garcia Band at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Sept 1 & 2, 1989
Bob Dylan: The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966
The Byrds: Live at Royal Albert Hall 1971
Neil Young: Live at Massey Hall 1971
Yes: Yessongs
Phil Manzanera: 801 Live

Island Run ‘98 was more or less an extension of the funk from Fall ‘97 and also a prelude into the ambience of summer ‘98. I was at MagnaBall (loved the Tweezer > Caspian btw). I’ll be at CurveBall this summer.
