4 Way Street, by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young... introduced to me freshman year.. 1993, New London First Floor in the Jungle.. still listen to it at least once a week..one of the life altering things I gained from my years at UConn. Helps my navigate all of the trials of life.. including updating this forum
to an obsessive level these days looking for that glimmer of hope that we’ll get back to what we once were.

What a difference a few hundred yards make.... Freshman year, also Fall of 1993. There was ZERO CSN&Y coming from our floor. It was 90% Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, etc... plus some kick-ass early 90's hip-hop and the occasional Dead

J.Geils, Blow Your Face Out

J Geils Full House

Both great calls. Great live band; Peter Wolf actually still puts on a great live show. One of the most underrated front men of all time imo.

Dire Straits - Alchemy. The version of Sultans of Swing on this live album still blows me away
Great call. That whole first side is excellent.

As you progressed down NL1 navigating the empty Beast and Popov bottles that were ankle deep by Sunday morning you transitioned from classic rock to hip hop and ended up with death metal. The Beatles were a mainstay though.

BÖC - On Your Feet or On Your Knees
Seriously dude, way to go.

They'll hear it.......The Subhuman, Last Days of May, Cities on Flame, and so much more.

I grew up with this.

I'm gonna play this right now.

I’m prepared for ridicule but I don’t know what BOC or MC5 are.

These two won't make anyone else's list, but they're the two live recordings I go back to way more than any others:
1. Come Up Screaming, Big Country
1a. Live In the Air Age, Be Bop Deluxe
So I checked out “Be Bop Deluxe”.. very interesting.. took me a little bit, but it grew on me. Not sure how to define it though or what to compare it to.... but thank you for the enlightenment

Phantom of the Opera with Crawford and Brightman.

The Three Tenors at Dodger Stadium.

Phish, any show from 1998. Hard to pick a favorite. More recently Phish Mangaball (2015)

Back in the day there were some comparisons to Bowie, but BBD were pretty unique. Just when BBD was sniffing commercial success, Nelson disbanded it and started Red Noise in 1978, which did one album that foreshadowed a lot of 80s electronica and new wave. And after that he went into a ton of experimental stuff, releasing 100+ albums. Nelson never really got along with the music industry and went his own way through his own label and distribution long before doing that was a thing.

98 wasn't as good as the cow phunk of the fall of 97 shows. 94 on the other hand, pure machine gun Trey. Magnamball was great, highlight being the 35+minute Caspian.

Lots of good stuff already chosen. I’ll add:

Phish: Island Run (April 2, 3, 4, 5, 1998)
Wilco: Kicking Television
My Morning Jacket: Okonokos
Oingo Boingo: Farewell Live from Universal Amphitheatre
Jerry Garcia Band at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Sept 1 & 2, 1989
Bob Dylan: The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966
The Byrds: Live at Royal Albert Hall 1971
Neil Young: Live at Massey Hall 1971
Yes: Yessongs
Phil Manzanera: 801 Live

Island Run ‘98 was more or less an extension of the funk from Fall ‘97 and also a prelude into the ambience of summer ‘98. I was at MagnaBall (loved the Tweezer > Caspian btw). I’ll be at CurveBall this summer.

I had no idea there were any Phans on this board. Love to see it!! I can’t wait for summer tour and curveball!
