Oskar Giltay Stanford Center possible transfer?

I often wonder if we should/could have just red shirted Koroma and/or Millender etc.. and then had some backups with 2 years of understanding our system before they ever saw a minute of in game action.
1) those dudes are like 24/25 years old and have already utilized redshirt years, and 2) you don't want either of them in major roles playing direct backup minutes

Stanford. It came from Stanford. The school he currently attends. Stanford.

He's literally listed as a forward/center by Stanford.

The answer is Stanford.

Stanford.
What are you trying to say?!

And (3), even if (1) didn't apply, those guys weren't going to sit out a year. "Come to UConn, sit for a year as you approach middle age, then maybe get 5 minutes off the bench as a 7th year senior!" What a pitch!

Would be happy with him as our backup PF and Marchot as our backup C. Still need a backup G. County is our only G off the bench right now so that’s the biggest missing piece IMO.

Not shown shooting, he’s a center right? Seems like a great shot blocker.no way he’s a PF.

Yes, he's a C. Has no skills for a 4 in UConn's system
First time for everything. And we’re talking about the backup not starter. Is the formula that inflexible? We also never played a 10 man rotation but that could be a possibility unless we’re getting a bargain bin PF. The backup G has to be in the rotation.

Oh, you noticed that. Hurley said he was all set at the position, so there is nothing to worry about here.

Move along.

This is the first time under Hurley's tenure that we've needed to get two centers. They come at a premium, so unfortunately we were never getting two studs. Have to hope Hines develops well and the other guy can at least be serviceable for 15 or so minutes.

If the formula involves Giltay then yes, it is that inflexible. He has nothing we want from our 4 on offense or defense

I wouldn’t mind double bigs in the second unit with how big the good teams are now. Could be fun. I’ll happily step off this corner once I see us getting involved with more traditional PFs.

I'm not opposed, the difference is those teams have a talented 4 that's big to stretch the floor. Giltay and Hines are both strictly around the rim guys on offense. They took 5 shots outside the paint last year combined

We should probably start bringing in more freshmen bigs. Cheaper recruiting them and keeping them than going through the portal. It cant hurt. Let them go if they dont work out.

This guy can get 8-12 minutes being the back up 4 as well as the #2 back up 5 if they get Chol. Either way this kid can get coached up and turned into something. Bring him in!

In today's NIL world he seems like a solid backup 5. Sign me up.
Totally. Fits the bill for exactly what a backup C should be in our system. A ton of eligibility remaining, and good athleticism.

If this kid was coming in from Southwest Dallas Methodist A&M of Sacramento we would all be acting like he was a hidden gem.

He’d be a great addition. Let’s hope he wants to come here.
